Coming down from M Street, il Canale is the 2nd restaurant on the left.
Amazing service and food! The experience was great all around, from the second we were greeted by the host and as we left the building. It felt like home and satisfied our Italian craving 200%!
Staff is very unpleasant. Quality of pizza much worse than it used to be. Very chewy. Noise is out of control, they need to fix the acoustic, could not hear clearly any friends at the same table.
Wonderful food in great Georgetown neighborhood!
Everything we ordered was excellent!! Service was great too!
Foods was not good at all ands the wine list was unsatisfactory as well. The salad was overdressed and not fresh and the pizza was soggy.
The pizza was disappointing. Toppings lacked flavor, and the crust was spongy like injera. Pizza for three (with two indifferent side salads, two desserts and three drinks) should not cost $151. Very noisy place, too.
This is my absolute favorite restaurant!!!! Best of everything!
Service was amazing but bit pricey. Food was pretty good but service is what stands out most.
Excellent pizza and calzones!!!!
Crust, sauce and topping are amazing!!
You can improve the behavior of your service staff!
Great meal and a very busy restaurant. High noise level due to everyone talking. Not any sound deadening material in the restaurant. Overall very good experience, just hard to talk with my party.
Great Marguerita pizza, yummy pasta carbonara
The staff went above and beyond! We originally chose an outdoor table, and when a storm rolled in unexpectedly, they already had an indoor table ready for us to keep us from getting wet. They didn’t seem bothered at all by the fact that they had to move all of our food and drinks inside. They then allowed several people to seek shelter from the rain in the entry way and never seemed annoyed by the crowd. They also gave some customers the cloth napkins to dry their faces. The food was excellent, and they were very attentive. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!
Our family each ordered entrees All were good. The pizza was so good that we ordered one for dessert.
I would recommend it to a friend with a gluten issue to try a non-gluten-free pizza. I can eat bread in most of Europe without an issue, so tried it here based upon the quality they advertised on their wheat. I was fine and it was tasty.
Everything was great except one of our Pizzas was soggy. The crust was too thin to support the toppings, cheese, and sauce.
Excellent services and good food!
Restaurant was loud, food was very sub par for the price
Great brick oven pizza, fabulous parchment wrapped Bronzino!
Friendly servers, fun atmosphere! We loved it!
Too noisy. Tables very cramped. Please don’t serve the entrees whilst your customers are in the middle of their appetisers.
Best Neapolitan pizza you will find!! Staff is very friendly and attentive. Il Canale is truly a gem in the heart of Georgetown!
Very solid, as usual. Meatball appetizer is very good, as are select pizzas.
Good service, as well.
Excellent service and food
Il Canale offers the best, most authentic Neapolitan food that I've ever eaten, outside of Italy. Try the pizza Margherita - the crust is chewy and lightly blackened around the edges with piquant mozzarella de bufala and a light, balanced tomato sauce. The generous cappuccino is balanced and frothy - absolutely no need for sugar. I simply can't overstate the perfection of the food, waitstaff, ambiance and location. In fact, recalling my meal there has left me ravenous!
The food was so bland and terrible. I'm not sure where this Restaurant got its good reviews. It tasted like someone defrosted their food and served it
It surprises me that Il Canale gets such high reviews. The food is fine but not special. The atmosphere is ok and the noise level is high. The service is good but overall the prices are not supported by the experience
Fantastic dining experience for the 4 of us--wonderful wines, amazing pizzas, lobster ravioli, delicious gnocci, and all of the desserts were a hit! Our server was attentive and friendly, but never pushy. The atmostphere was lively, but not too loud. The square table was a little small for the 4 of us, especially once the pizzas arrived, but that was the only thing I would change. Will definitely go again and highly recommend!
I really wanted to love this place. It's cute and very Italian. The service was good and my husband really enjoyed his pizza. But...I was looking forward to the house made pasta I'd read so many reviews about. I worked hard looking for a great dinner for a special night. The menu was different than online and I had the carbonara- I love good carbonara! But, unfortunately it wasn't . It was imported spaghetti not homemade and instead of a smooth egg and parmesan sauce with pancetta, it was a Parmesan cream sauce that was lumpy. Either the egg scrambled or the parmesan didn't melt and it was topped with limp bacon. It's too bad because this place had so much going for it.
Delicious food, pleasant lovely atmosphere
We love the pizza. It’s authentic so eat it quickly.
This nice cozy restaurant outside DC was excellent. I had the a plate that was not on the menu and they made it taste great! Thank you guys for doing that. The scenery was awesome and the location is perfect since were in DC.
Fantastic! The pizza reminded me of Rome! Can’t wait to go back. Also our waitress was lovely.
Good as always!
Authentic Italian pizza done right!
The quality and selection of dishes were fantastic. The calamari was not seasoned well, but the main dishes were phenomenal.
Greeter outside checking people in was a bit rude...put a damper on the whole evening!
Always wonderful! My teenage son even commented that he cannot understand what makes the food so outstanding at Il Canale... he said it looks like other pizza and pasta he has eaten, but it tastes so much better!!
We enjoyed a delicious meal at Il Canale a few days ago. We made reservations and were seated shortly after arriving. We have been here before but this was the first time during the Thursday dinner rush, around 730-8pm. The dining area was very loud but we managed. The food was delicious, especially the pizza. The service was good even with a very busy dining time. Will definitely come again, maybe earlier or during a less busy time.
Great experience and great food
beautiful restaurant, our server Eugenia was amazing, very attentive. just wasn't wowed by the food.
