Il Covo - Toronto
The service at this place- stunning. Ambience very cosy and exclusive.
Appetizers I got the foccacia. It was alot thicker than I was expecting but was okay.
The mains were arguably alot better. I love how the chef does his own twist on classical italian dishes. I got the lasagna and i was pleasantly surprised by how they finished it in the oven to crisp up the ends to use as chips. Ingenious and delicious
We enjoy dinner at Il Covo every 5-6 weeks when we visit Toronto. Giuseppe and Davide are always most gracious. The staff is fun, considerate and attentive. The menu, specials and wine list are a treat.
Nice, cosy atmosphere. Delicious food. Friendly staff.
Early Sunday Dinner in late November.
Seated promptly in a dining room fit for romance.
Attentive, unobtrusive and thoughtful service from Taryn and team.
Seamless in fact. Wonderful appetizers and pastas shared.
An impressive wine list and cocktails on offer.
But mostly, I challenge you to find a more delicious or beautifully presented
Lasagna di Mare. Sorry. You lose.
Amazing. Attention to detail and great food. Loved it
I gave it the highest rating because the entire dining experience was superb.
I had a great time at this restaurant! Great food! Very pricey so if you're someone who can afford it, go for it. If not, reserve for special occasions. The waiters were so hands-on, stowing our jackets, refilling water and taking care of the table settings.
The only thing that lacked was the abundance of fruit flies that drew back from such a perfect evening. Tip: One part apple cider vinegar one part dish soap does the job.
The appetizers, dessert, drinks and coffee were very good. Very very disappointed with the pasta dishes. The Carbonara had so much black pepper it was inedible. Stringy "ham/bacon". The ravioli was good but the ragu/sauce was nothing special. I make better sauce. Everything else was perfection, service, ambiance, drinks and wine. We are consummate foodies and was honestly shocked that two basic pasta dishes could be so underwhelming.
Took a friend here for his birthday, having had an incredible tasting menu experience several years ago, and we were deeply disappointed. The quality of food has absolutely nose-dived; overcooked lasagna, bland ravioli, and bread that was clearly baked from frozen dough. The service was attentive and helpful, but I can't help but be annoyed at the cost to quality ratio, having paid top dollar for what was just competent food.
The service was excellent. The ambience was very nice too. We were seated at the only high top and although we were the closest to the door, it wasn't at all congested or awkward.
The appetizers were a little disappointing. They were not bad, I just expected more creativity and flavour. The menu said the salad was mixed herbs & greens but I only saw 1 kind of green in ours and the croutons were teeny-tiny. The main portions were smaller than expected, however, because we had ordered a few appy's - we were not left hungry. The pasta was cooked well but I asked for more pepper. The branzino was cooked very well also. We ordered the tart for dessert and again, it didn't feel extra special - bland actually. Our dinner mates ordered the tiramisu. They enjoyed it very much.
Absolutely memorable experience, service and food were fantastic. Will definitely be returning many more times!
Friendly and attentive server and maître d'hôtel, but disappointing food. The charcuterie is indistinguishable from supermarket quality. My steak was chewy and had a line of silverskin right through it. That's just poor craftsmanship. Like many restaurants they play upbeat slightly too loud music to get people to eat up quickly.
Fish portion was small and burnt
Carbonara cheese was too bitter
Food not proportionate to price by any means
We had booked the Back Room for a private dining event. The atmosphere was just perfect. Everything from the lighting to the decor. The staff were great and the food was amazing. I had suffered a medical emergency during dinner. The staff were quick to help me, ensure my well-being and remained with me until I felt better. The manager also called me the following day to check on me. Considering that, the evening was perfect. Everyone in our party loved the restaurant and the food. We will definitely be going back again. Highly recommended.
Very good moment spent at Il Coco!
The food was excellent - very good quality of products.
The charcuterie, bread, olives were delicious and the pastas (carbonara and lasagnas) was tasty and cooked very well.
Also the team was smiley and always around if you need something.
Definitely an address that I recommend for a dinner with friends, family or date.
Went here for a birthday dinner with a party of 9 people and thoroughly enjoyed it! Wonderful and attentive service. The drinks and food were very good. For big parties there’s a long table at the back of the restaurant that gives you a bit more privacy that we really appreciated.
Amazing good and impeccable service. Highly recommended!
Very disappointing meal.
Everything was lacklustre, from the service to the drinks to the food, which was cold and poorly prepared.
I would not return or recommend this restaurant.
Our first time at Il Covo. Great little place. Everything started out good. Service was attentive and we received our cocktails and apps - they were good. When our apps were cleared, service somehow stopped. Our server no longer visited and we sat there and waited 35 minutes for entrées (both pasta dishes). We asked two servers when our food was coming and was told 4 mins...it took another 10 for a total wait time of 35 mins between app and entrée. When our food arrived, service somehow started again - refills on water, asking if we need more wine, etc etc... Two pasta dishes were ordered - Bucatini and Risotto. The bucatini was amazing but the risotto was an embarrassment and came out on a flat dinner plate vs a risotto bowl and was soupy-watery vs rich and creamy. A man did come and tell us that they lost the order chit in the kitchen. At the end of the meal, another told us they were using a 'new system' and it caused issues and delays. We finished our dinner, skipped dessert and ordered two espressos and asked for the bill. The manager/lead server returned and offered dessert/drink (we were done) and gave us a drink mix to go instead. We're happy that they addressed the issue but they really should've comped the pastas as we only ate a quarter of the risotto and waited so long. I'm sure we'll eventually try Il Covo again, but not for a while.
Incredible experience from the food to the friendly staff!
Gracious, helpful and fun staff. Innovative and delicious menu. A wine list curated by one of the owners that always offers fantastic non-LCBO selections. My wife and I love Il Covo!!
Not really a brunch - food was all lunch. Service was obnoxious.
Giuseppe and his team always ensure the evening is a special one. Great food and wine selection.
Wonderful restaurant! The pasta is freshly made, and absolutely incredible!
Food was very good tasting and the wine was also great. was disappointed that our pasta came cold.
Great service and a delicious menu. Would recommend.
Average service, subpar food.
Food and service was great. Will be back!
Great, fresh, traditional Italian food. The staff are wonderful and the drinks are delcious! Highly reccomend!
Lovely place to eat! Food was amazing, service was amazing and everyone was so friendly and lovely! Great atmosphere and really nice sidewalk patio! Will absolutely be returning!
What a lovely spot! The food was delicious and the service was great as well. Will definitely go back !
Second time dining here. We had to wait about an hour to get any of our food, even the bread. So, we were starving when the food did come around finally. Restaurant apologized for the delays but didn’t do anything to actually make it better. Food is delicious, but the wait was unbearable.
Food was excellent. Not many choices of mains but very fresh and very good.
Service was friendly but we waited for drinks and apps and the. We’re rushed with mains. Didn’t take our wine order until after main was served.
Service was good. Portions small and food arrived warm to cool at best. Left feeling hungry and extremely unsatisfied with what I was hoping would be an amazing authentic Italian dinner.
We ordered the antipasto for 2, the pesto pasta and the risotto. The meal was great! Simple, straight to the point, just great food. Perfectly cooked, beautifully presented, good portions. Unfortunately we followed up with desserts…. We had the raspberry sorbet and the cannoli’s. The sorbet was beautiful in colour but lacked in flavour. The cannoli filling was a chocolate mousse texture with cocoa nibs on the outside. It was missing a richness and a sweetness I expect from a cannoli. It felt like they were trying to be “healthier” with their desserts. Next time we go back, I’ll stick to the cheese for dessert.
Celebrated our 38th wedding anniversary. No issues with Food, Drink and Service. It was a very pleasant experience.
Definitely will come back
Perfect outdoor covered table. Great service and food from Guiseppe , Ryan and team!!
Absolutely fabulous night. The best branzino in the city, amazing pastas and outstanding service. Run don’t walk!
