Thank you Richard and Chelsea for a great evening!
Made a reservation and sit at 7:30 pm on a Saturday night ...No server come up, so we stopped some servers and they told us our table is not their table to refuse service (especially one older Caucasian server served the tables all around us except our table) Walked back up to the host stand after being sit for more than 10 minutes, then the host and manager explained that they had assigned us to a table which was originally a station and no server assigned. They apologized and tried to compensate but with their way to say sorry is by yelling at us, we decided to leave as we have no trust on what will they do to the food and drink.
One advice if you want to go to this restaurant,
*Check with the host to make sure your table have assigned the server* to avoid the experience that I had.
As our first indoor dining experience in over a year, I have to say it went above expectations. Safe dining protocols were exceptional...table spacing was more than ample...wait staff was masked and distanced. The Salmon & Bolognese were so delicious and presented beautifully.
As one who is thoroughly OVER the to-go dining option, this was truly a wonderful welcome back experience!
I have eaten here a number of times. It was odd to be there post covid. The ambiance was lacking as there were no decorations and the place seemed bare.
Always a great spot with a great menu!
Wait service was abysmal. Our waiter consistently left us hanging. The sommelier and others had to pick up the slack. I love the restaurant, but was disheartened by the service.
Service was slow but otherwise everything was great.
It was wonderful to be sitting inside again, although your outdoor dinning is great. Our waitress was great. The food was wonderful. I tried the lasagna this time. Fantastic.
The food was delicious, from the minestrone to the tomato salad and the various pasta dishes.
We enjoyed it all, and the service was very attentive.
Great service and amazing food!
The table and sideboard were dirty. I had a moldy grape in my drink and the restaurant made no attempt to compensate for the drink with the bill. Poor etiquette. Will not be back.
As always, excellent food and service even in the outdoor seating set up for covid precautions.
Hello, I had dinner with 2 friends and mentioned it was a birthday dinner for Patty.
#1 There was no mention by the waitstaff of her birthday. Actually the waiter was rude and short with us. Customer service will stop me from ever coming to your establishment.
#2 the food with so much salt isn't healthy. Everything we had was loaded with it. True Italian food doesn't have harmful ingredients and this can actually send someone with high blood pressure into a heart attack or stroke and your restaurant would be liable for the hospital bills.
I ordered the tagliatelle and Bolognese, it was so salty I couldn't eat it and sent it back. The waiter developed an attitude like he can't be bothered with my concern. He abruptly removed the pasta and never asked if he could bring me something else. He didn't even apologize which was rude.
#3 I had the Cesarina salad and it was bland and had no flavor and no garlic. (Salt is not a seasoning, just a mask for bad recipes) I could make this dressing that would bring your customers coming back for more.
At the end of the meal, the waiter should have asked if we wanted desert, when we asked him, he was short about it and said the restaurant closes at 9pm which at that point it was 8:50pm. How rude of him to treat us this way.
I'm never going back to your restaurant and my friends won't either. It wasn't a good experience. Please hire people who have pleasant/bubbly personalities and are there for the "Customer". Your business will never survive this way!
Able to eat indoors because of good spacing and wide open sliding windows
Ceasar salad a little bland
Cannoli very good; shells crisp filling creamy
I usually have the salads, but decided to have the shell pasta this time. Great food, as usual, and I look forward to returning.
Nice atmosphere inside. Tables are separated for social distancing. Jorge the bus boy was delightful!!
Great food as always. Our favorite spot whenever we are in Burlingame. Attentive staff.
Grateful to dine indoors again. However, limited menu did not offer capellini. Had checked the menu to confirm Pomodoro, but didn’t realize the pasta was penne. Cappelini was the pasta we’ve missed; I can do better penne at home.
Hostess gave a warm welcome but service was not up to usual standards —- and we were about the only patrons there. Disappointing.
Had a reservation but when we arrived, no one was managing a host podium or checking people in - it took us about 8 minutes to flag the right person down to get ourselves checked in. Once we were seated everything was solid - food and service were good.
Went here for Valentines Date . Was an outdoor late lunch , good food excellent Italian food . Can't expect a good ambiance as its outdoor by the door they put small tables for 2 people & the rest are in the side street with plastic covers. It's pandemic season have to wear masks & social distance . A lot people having late lunch here probably known for good Italian food. Will come back when we prefer Italian .
We were so happy to have our friend and server Ray back to Il Fornaio, first time we've seen him back since Covid hit. He was his friendly, witty self and we were pampered by his service. One of us for sure, always get the Heart shaped ravioli filled with chicken, carrots, celery and herbs, with crispy pancetta brown butter sage sauce, tomato coulis and grana padano. So beautiful and so delicious, we both ended up with that, had the reigns salad to start and shared a bottle of wine. It was a perfect evening, thank you Ray and everyone at Il Fornaio
What could have been an excellent lunch was just mediocre. My niece had the salmon which smelled fishy when served. My braised short ribs we’re flavored well, advertised with roasted root vegetables & Yukon gold potatoes. Broccoli isn’t a root veggie, potatoes barely cooked. I was excited for the root veggies. All in all it wasn’t great☹️
Great food and service on the front outdoor area
It was so great to bet able to go out and especially when wonderful people like Carla and Alex work there. Cheers🥂
A wonderful reopening of outdoor seating, with a complimentary glass of prosecco that was given the first week of the reopening. They have it nice, warm and cozy. Food was great as always, but, what made it so special for us was to see the wonderful staff that have become our friends.. Thank you Heather, Joseph, Elsey and Molly for making for making our evenings at Il Fornaio so fun! Cheers, see you all soon
Very good to have a local favorite back open! Had some food go to dishes. Not a full menu but still good for just everyday dining. But like all Italian food expensive for what you get.
We were seated right away, the waiting staff were very attentive. The food was excellent, my daughter finished her entire meal.. it was great. We were celebrating our son’s 16th birthday and they sang happy birthday. Very nice.
Great food and service as usual. Great set up for outside dining
We sat outside, and the heater was excellent. The food was outstanding, and I was happy that the restaurant had so many options besides just Thanksgiving fare. Great wine and desserts. I couldn't have asked for a better dinner. :)
warm friendly yummy
Very disappointing. Food was ok, but all elements of service were poor, and they really didn’t care.
Very thankful they sat us very far from others. The waiters were attentive. Everyone was very well masked.
Our waitress was fantastic. Thank you Carla. For being a great server.
Any time my meal starts with a drink arriving in a dirty, lipstick stained glass, I get upset. Especially during these days of COVID-19, extra precautions need to be made to prevent its spread...that said, filthy glassware makes me wonder if there are other shortcuts and breaches in cleanliness overall at this restaurant.
Ladies lunch and we always enjoy Il Fornio
We all ordered Branzino with a bottle of wine.
Another fabulous meal and Alex waited on us.
He was a hit with us ladies and took very good care of us!
Would not go back. Small menu. Service not good. Small amount of food for the price and limited choices.
Overall it was a very nice experience. It felt normal, which in the middle of this pandemic is saying a lot. I felt safe bringing my 94yo mother. She ate everything and was happy. So was I.
The seafood linguine -- my usual -- was as good as ever. Have missed dining inside. Tables are distanced appropriately to accommodate the COVID issue.
Excellent provisions for covid inside and out.
Consistent menu and food with selections patrons are used to
Organized well managed
