The fact that we have been going to this restaurant for over 25 years must say something about the food and the service. It is our favourite restaurant, visit it and see why!
Warm and welcoming. A real treat.
This lovely restaurant never fails to delight - it is our family’s favourite....
Very nice food, a place hidden away, but the ambiance suffers a bit. Excellent service.
A lovely hidden away gem. Well worth a visit and we will definitely be back.
The food was excellent; whenever we are in London we waking a point of eating there.
Good lunch, excellent service with theminimum of fuss.
I love this gem. An Italian family ristorante hidden away in a pathway of ancient and historic London, right in the heart of the West End. What a great place to catch up with friends and be with people you love.
Intimate restaurant, perfect for romantic dinners. Amazing Italian food at fair pricing. Very nice stuff!
Great place, delicious food and very friendly staff
As always the food was of a very high quality. Thank you.
The best Italian around. Gorgeous authentic food. Lovely staff. The spinach and ricotta ravioli is awesome
Wonderful family run place with a great vibe and excellent food.
We have been going to this restaurant for twenty five years, never had a bad meal or any reason to complain, our favourite neighbourhood Italian restaurant.
Always great food and nice waitstaff
I've been here twice and both times I have been very satisfied. My favourite place in London to take friends to try real italian food.
Host is very friendly
I don't need 50 characters. The meals and the place were excellent as they always are
This little restaurant is tucked along a back alley which makes you feel like you’ve found something hidden. The restaurant itself is small and not overly decorated. The food was good, particularly the authentic Italian dishes. However, they were out of several things: both bottles of wine that I tried to order at the beginning were out and we ended with a reserve Chianti that was fine but just not what I was looking for. My colleague ordered the swordfish and they were out of that and she ended up with salmon. Overall we had a very nice time but the service itself was extremely slow. The bill was actually completed by hand long after we were ready for it. I would recommend this, just know that you will need a good amount of time to complete your meal.
The food was good but the veal portion was very small and didn’t taste like veal - over breaded. I would go back for the pasta
Amazing food and fantastic service. The ambience was great for our group as we wanted to talk to each other and the ambience was perfect for that.
My group loved the service as it had a personal touch to this place and was very grateful that I found this place.
Tiny, small menu, extremely noisy, tables too close together, food mediocre, dingy alley location.
The food is fabulous. Very fresh and delicious.
Host/owner has a wonderful personality. Service is polite, professional but friendly !
Hidden gem - great food - great service
Found this little hideaway gem in the back alleys of St. James and decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed and in fact the experience was above and beyond my lofty expectations. Excellent food, casual yet elegant ambience, attentive service and a solid wine list made for a very enjoyable evening of culinary exploration. Authentic flavors of Italy served with style and flair equally perfect for business entertaining or a date or any other special occasion. From top to bottom the food shone through as high quality and well presented. A resounding 5 star recommendation.
By and large the occasion was excellent and the owner was charming. My only complaint is the portion size for the cost of the meal. I have no issue with the quality which was good
The food was very nice but not hot and we didn’t have time to wait for another serving. The staff were lovely and it had a nice feel, but £6.50 for half a dozen olives and some bread which were on the table ( we didn’t know there was a charge) was way too much and £17 a head for tepid pasta and said bread and olives was over the top even for Central London.
Disappointing. Good first and second courses, and pasta. Limited wine list, and one of those out of stock. Offered another at same price, then mistakenly tried to charge the higher price. Limited choice of desserts. Prices for wines and desserts in restaurant higher than menu on line, and fewer desserts available. Did not recognise an Open Table cheque.
Great location in secluded passageway off St James'. Delightful food, ambiance and service. Will definitely return.
Very friendly family run restaurant on a quiet alleyway. The food was outstanding. Very accommodating to our 2 children.
The food here was delicious and the service was great! Everything is homemade by the owner and his chefs - pasta, tiramisu, panna cotta, limoncello - all homemade! You can feel the passion for the food and restaurant here. The owner made sure we were happy and was very accommodating with my daughter's allergies. We loved the family run feel and personalized service we received. It was a great recommendation from a friend and we will definitely be back!
Consistently excellent food, and fantastic service from a family-owned restaurant that really cares about their diners' experience!
If authentic Italian food, with personal service, is what you want look no further! We have been coming to Il Vicolo for many years and have never been disappointed. Listen closely to the daily specials.... they are superb! A must visit for good food and good ambiance!
Tables very cramped. Food very average. Ambience canteenish
Fantastic food and ambiance as usual
Excellent food, lovely wine, discreet service, ambient 50s' jazz playing in the background - Il Vicolo is the best place to eat if you're looking for a soothing experience combined with wonderful dishes.
Lovely family run local Italian in a passage in St. James’s London - very authentic cuisine.
The wait staff was very nice, however the upholstered chairs were clearly dirty which gave a feeling of uncleanliness to the entire restaurant.
Also, they had no salad dressing other than vinegar.
Wonderful food and wine, and terrific specials. Truly a neighbourhood gem!
Charming, low key and very Italian. Tucked away and all the better for it. The food was superb - the owner came over and told us the specials - tagliatelle with truffles. I ordered it and the perfectly cooked pasta was topped with an entire sliced up truffle - unbelievably good value for £23.
Husband had veal with pasta - daughter same as me but with a (I think) wild boar ragout.
Couldn’t fault this little piece of foodie heaven!
Amazing meal and great service!! ❤️❤️
