The food was good but service was awful. If you want to try the food I’d recommend, otherwise for the service you’d get much better elsewhere!

Beijing duck & other menu items tasted very good with fresh ingredients & not oily. But good quality of food let down by poor service: had to ask for bowls & cutlery at the beginning & during the meal as used items were taken but not replaced. Delivered a wrong dish & a dish did not arrive. Food came ad hoc so we had just one plate of veg & no meat for example & had to wait more than 30 mins for each separate individual dish. So ate veg alone, then meat alone with 30 mins between each dish. So don't come here if you want a complete dining experience with lots if dishes on your table. If you are preoared to wait a long time between basic dishes then you will enjoy the quality of each dish by itself.

Placed in the waiting area with low ceilings. All wines were sold out, invoice wasn’t correct. Service was hardly interested in us. You just lost good customers.

It was an incredible experience as always, the only disappointing point was that we couldn’t order the traditional duck, because it had to be reserved previously, as far as I can remember we always ordered when arrive

Way too much food for the set menu.
Besides the dim sum, the duck and rye beef tenderloin, everything was not up to the mark.

Wine pairing was good though.

The food is great as usual but the service was sub par during this visit. Had to remind the waiters about tea, overall service was slow but they tried to rush with everything, which was also a little bit frustrating as you couldn’t get the attentions when needed. When it was clear that the condiments for the Peking duck would run out, we tried to ask for extra, but they only brought it after 10 minutes, by which time the duck was cold. The time limit set by the restaurant was the final straw as they only give 2 hours for a table of 6, while the service is very slow.

Great food, but something needs to be changed with the way how the place is run.

High expectations but lots of frustration, decor is poor, service so so and food nothing to compare with top Chinese restaurants in London. And sadly, bill is as expected…

Superb, flawless Cantonese dim sum served in a serene and sophisticated atmosphere where no detail has been left unattended. To wit, even the corners of the dining tables and marble sinks are rounded and there isn't a hint of red or gold to be found anywhere. No wonder many clients are fastidious Hong Kong transplants (like me) or visitors. Just keep in mind that the restaurant is, by far, the most expensive Chinese restaurant in London.

We were a party of 4 and due to traffic we were running about 10 mins late (we had called to inform them of this). 2 of us entered the restaurant first and we left the door open because the other 2 were coming (a family member had walking difficulties so was a bit slower approaching the door). However, the receptionist abruptly closed the door behind us (first 2) just as the other 2 were approaching, so they had to reopen the door again. In general, I would say the service wasn’t particularly friendly or efficient (except for one lady, I think Jocelyn? who was quite nice). I think we sat next to a table who was obviously their VIP because all the staff seemed to gravitate towards that table. We had to ask them to change our plates between starters and mains whereas the VIP table seemed to be waited on hand and foot throughout the meal. This further magnified the difference in levels of service we received even though we were charged the same menu price and service charge. I will say though, that the food was of a high quality. However, we are unlikely to return anytime soon because the overall experience was not great - especially as we mentioned in the booking that it was for a birthday. Nobody took notice of this at all. We decided to leave as soon as we finished our mains because it didn’t feel like a welcoming environment to stay. This was a real shame and did put a slight downer on the occasion.

First rate dining experience. First, let me complement the service at this restaurant. Extremely efficient and professional, yet friendly. This is something many restaurants seem to struggle with. The sommelier in particular was extremely engaging.

Second, the food is wonderful. We both went for the vegetarian set menu, which was full of unusual flavours. The hot and sour soup was amongst the most complex dishes I’ve tasted in many years. One of the vegetable dishes had a small black fungus that tasted somewhere between pepper and licorice: again, a more interesting and complex flavour than you get in many restaurants.

The wine selection is well chosen for the flavours. We had a dry Tokaij and a Riesling Spaetlese, both of which went well with the food. Although we didn’t take anything from the bar menu, I have to point out that it is one of the most comprehensive I’ve ever seen, and great to see a rum cocktail based on foursquare from Barbados.

Great place for authentic Chinese food, lovely environment and staff was friendly. One thing I would recommend is to improve the time the dishes go to the tables, we waited ages for our food and it was not in order cold dish->hot dish. Hot dish came first which was a bit disorganised. Steamed rice was too dry, I wish they can improve this as well. Overall it was a good experience, roast duck is always amazing there.

One of the best dimsum I’ve had! Also Peking roast duck was amazing, given I haven’t had one for more than 10 years. For the price we paid per head is higher than most Chinese restaurants, but the variety and quality of food you could get with the price is exceptional.

Only down side is they seemed slightly short staffed with front of house so service was a little slow to start with.
We would definitely come back next time!
