With years of experience in Indian food, India India Restaurant is committed to provide the best in traditional recipes in a modern style palatable to Londoners that is close to Fleet street and Fetter Lane.
First impressions on entry is that the decor is rather basic but dont be put off by that. I went two nights running and choose off the specials menu.
Nice place, and fairly standard food for an Indian restaurant, and service was OK although I think the waiter struggled to understand what was said. £48 for a simple 1 course lunch and no booze was quite pricey, although these days the location drives the price up I think. Given the place was deserted when we visited, I suspect the price has put people off. I managed to spill my lunch on my shirt, and it would have been nice for the waiter to hand a cloth, or tissues or similar, but no dice on that front. Shirt suit and tie ruined - but that wasn't the restaurant's faul - it was my fault, (there was a carrot-display on top of my dish which was cooked and carved in to the shape of a flower - so I thought I could cut it up and eat it - as it was raw, I couldn't and it shot off my knife like a rocket on to my shirt, tie, jacket).
3 stars is a pretty generous review, and actually looking at what I've written, this really could be 2 stars. I would recommend this place if nowhere else is available, but failing that I'd urge the management to either reduce pricing or look more closely at table-staff.
Soothing ambient, amazing staff and, most importantly, very good food. Recommended
Food was excellent- not difficult to find - waiters were busy but friendly and were quick to respond - highly recommend to anyone.
Good Food and Service. Catered for a large group. Friendly service
Absolutely awful! we walked out half way and wouldn’t even recommend this my worst enemy! Food was bland and no taste. Service was awful! We walked out after eating half of the starters because it was awful! I wouldn’t ever go back to this place. Save yourself some money and don’t go here!
Food was average, felt very rushed by the waiters bringing the courses out with very little time between them. Service charge of 12% I felt was a bit much considering there was only 2 of us dining
A perfect end to a night out with a group of friends. Nice curries, prompt service, pleasant restaurant.
Hard to find but nice when you get there. Tasty authentic food. Recommended
Great food! Restaurant was kind of hard to find though. They were putting up a new sign which should help to bring in more customers. Highly recommend you eat here.
Food good quality. portions on small side.
Fair value with offer
Food really good -and service.
Don't touch the ice cream sweets tho.
The average score for this restaurant was not that high but we felt it was lower than deserved. The front of house team were also very helpful.
Sister branch of The India in Cannon Street. Take advantage of the offers - suddenly what would be a slightly overpriced place becomes some of the best value and best-cooked curry in the City of London.
Has an excellent menu. Chef not quite as good as the Cannon Street branch but getting there. I would recommend the Gosht Kata Masala and I have a friend who raves about the Lamb Balti.
Service a tad slow but very friendly.
Hidden down a back-avenue off Fleet Street/Fetter Lane. Worth a look!
As with other reviews we dined on a Saturday night and again we were only 1 of 2 tables which was a disappointment as it was a birthday celebration. However the food was good albeit quite small mains.
The staff were friendly but sadly we were only 1 of 2 tables of diners on a Saturday evening between 6 and 8pm which made the atmosphere quite flat. The food tasted nice however the meat in the curries was dry and over cooked which ruined the taste of the dishes.
Dined on a Saturday night, although the restaurant was quiet when we arrived, a large table soon joined and the atmosphere in the restaurant was much livelier. The food was really good - the chicken nawabi and jaipuri were particularly excellent. Staff were fantastic - we ordered too much food and a take-away bag was soon organised. We also took advantage of the 50% opentable deal so very good value for money. Will certainly dine there again.
Found this restaurant last minute on new years eve, the service was very good the waiters knew their dishes and were able to recommend ones that suited what we wanted.
The food was excellent, it had the taste and spices that we wanted and we could not pick a fault with any of the 5 dishes that we ordered.
Will definitely go back again.
I went with an Indian colleague - we were disappointed as the food was Indian for the UK - very poor veggie selection did not help.
When you arrive you get a very enthusiastic greeting, which was nice. Once we were shown to our table the waiters were very persistent to get our orders, we did not even have time to open out menus before they were asking us what we wanted, even though we asked to give us five minutes or so, they were back in a minute asking again.
Once we placed our order for the food, we moved to order a bottle of wine, had one bottle of a Italian Sangiovese, which was delivered with no problem. For the actual meal we decided to go for a Chilean Carmenere, they offer us a merlot, which we did not want so they had to go back to get the bottle we actually ordered. The second bottle of the same type, they also tried to offer us a bottle of merlot, which they tried to open it before we could reject it for the bottle that we ordered.
The food itself was very good and definitely one of the best Indians I have had in London.
To end the evening on reviewing the bill we found that they had snuck in a fourth bottle of wine and an extra main course, so they had to correct the bill before we agreed it.
Overall the evening had very good food, excellent and quite wide selection of Indian food and a pretty wide wine selection too, also offers beer.
Good food, outstanding service, nice restaurant, value for money
Great food! Great service! Accidentally stumbled upon this place and I’ll definitely go back.
We arrived on the late evening and checked in after a two day journey on the road. We were tired so decided to eat in the restaurant. We were very well looked after by the owner and his team. We were helped with our choices from the menu plus some speciality dishes. Definitely recommend
Visited my favourite Indian restaurant in London on a hot busy Saturday evening and once again lovely evening! My friends and I opened our fast here and as always service was fantastic! Food was on point and prepared just in time for us.
The location of the restaurant is perfect between fetter lane and fleet street. I walked from my office from chancery lane and it took me 5 minutes. The food and ambience was brilliant and they gave a special discount because I was local resident.
Delicious food and excellent service!
It is amazingly decorated, and the waiters are passionate with their service. Food was really good. The prices are reasonable but perfect for celebrating an occasion or going on a date. On Saturday evenings especially RESERVE! I went to celebrate my dad's birthday and it was perfect.
So amazing. So worth the price. The restaurant is gorgeous, the staff is knowledgeable, smart and very helpful.
The cocktails menu is limited but all the cocktails that we had were outstanding. Recommend the happy hour between 5-7
