Staff were very friendly & food was excellent. Would highly recommend & book again next time in Edinburgh.
Food was very good, no doubt. Service was generally ok, but after we didn't order any desserts, we were presentes the bill without further communication. We felt a bit pushed. Noise level was very high due to a large group.
We both enjoyed our meal it was absolutely delicious as was the service. This was our second time seeing each other since we both met on holiday we will definitely be booking up the next time we are over.
I asked if they could do me a lamb saag vindaloo which they had no problem doing.
The food was as excellent, as was the service.
Really disappointed at our experience - we chose this venue because of a special occasion and based on web contents. The noise level was horrendous primarily because of two really noisy tables of young lads - the language was appauling especially in the presence of younger children and grandparents. The staff did nothing to calm the noise down probably due to the amount of money they would be getting - we just wanted to eat up and leave. I have also to add that despite booking table through opentable the restaurant had no record of our booking. One of the worst dining experiences ever encountered
The staff and food were fabulous! We enjoyed the lively atmosphere and it's in a great location.
Good food good service no complaints
Many staff on but a lot of time waiting to be served ,to get our food and to order drinks.
Not welcomed at all. Stood up waiting for table (booked online) for 45 mins . Particularly abrupt response from one member of staff. We gave up waiting and went elsewhere. They were obviously busy but some manners can go a long way in this situation.
We were a group of 9, so booked ahead. When we arrived on time we were told to wait, and had to hang around for around 40 mins. When we were seated they seemed to forget us, sonwaited ages for even some poppadums. The food was fabulous, but the service was slow..and abit grumpy tbh! Would recomend but only on a quiet night. Not a Saturday night in December!
We booked a table for 7 and when we got there it was packed. They hadn't saved us a table. The staff were rude and unhelpful. We weren't the only ones who booked and didn't get a table on time. It got to 7:35, we still hadn't been seated, it seemed like we were forgotten about. We did not stay to eat, so I cannot comment on the food. We ended up leaving and going else where. There is literally no point in booking a table here as it doesn't save you any waiting time. It was mainly the rude staff that made the experience worse. Would not go back there
Fantastic experience! First, you should know they can get busy and even if you book via opentable you'll get seated on a first-come basis. Regardless...the meal was superb, tasty, fresh and nice proportions. The cheese and garlic naan is out of this world! I love that this is a family restaurant.. it shows in the authenticity of the meals. Do not miss out...and do not listen to the bad reviews. The fact that the owner stands up for his food and employees madame want to eat here more!
Waited so long for the chips to come to accompany our meal that we had nearly eaten the curry and rice and when you ask where's your chips they just kept saying they are coming.worst when husband went to pay the bill I was still drinking my drink and a waiter starts washing the table to make me move.most appalling customer service
Food was good, nothing over the top for Indian. All dishes were good. They would not honor 10% discount as advertised in tourist magazine in hotel, there was no fine print on the advert or menu; but, they just stated not applicable to menu for 2.
Good food and friendly staff..
Only issue, the restaurant advertises their buffet lunch on a board outside but once seated you do not get offered that. I noticed that on a previous visit but thought it just by accident, however having watched other diners yesterday, it seems like a fly move on their part...
When in Edinburgh we always go to Indian Lounge, food is lovely, staff welcoming And great value for money
*Restaurant didn’t have a table for us, despite confirming our booking twice*
I booked online via Open Table and received confirmation. A few days before the meal, I added another person to the booking (again confirmed). When our group arrived 5 minutes before our reservation time we were greeted with a chain across the (open) restaurant entrance. After getting someone’s attention we were assured there would be a table ‘soon’. They were uninterested that we actually had a table booked.
After a few minutes’ wait in the bar area we were given menus to look at. After a few minutes more we asked for an update. Twenty minutes after arriving we made clear our intentions to go elsewhere. After a half-hearted ‘table will be ready soon’, we made for the exit as the waited shrugged his shoulders in disinterest (perhaps because by this point on a Saturday night during the Festival there was a queue outside and the table wouldn’t go empty for long).
I purposely booked a table because I knew Edinburgh would be very busy during the Festival. We struggled to dine elsewhere for this very reason, and I won’t rush back to try India Lounge due to their complete lack of interest in providing anything approaching customer service.
good food, funny staff, OK value, small wine selection but OK quality
Excellent choice of gluten fee options with over 90% of the menu offering gluten free choices
Sorry to say but worst experience ever. Bad food, bad service, you feel like eating at Mac Donald’s. Waiters are rude and all the food tastes the same. We made a reservation for New Years. When we came in a family warned us don’t go in, its terrible! They were right
Friendly staff and great food!
