We booked for 8.45 and when we sat down….they had run out of a lot of what was on the menu. Utter rubbish! The menu was also very expensive.
Lovely setting looking over the sea.
The food was excellent. Crab cake and the mackerel were particularly good on the starter front. The plaice, the Dover sole and the traditional fish and chips were very good; it’s surprising how often is not so good in many places but they did it to a tee here. Only one minor observation on the food and that was that the salt was a bit too much; for our tastes anyway.
The service was very friendly but very slow. Maybe the kitchen staff had been depleted by ‘COVID pings’.
lovely views and staff very friendly and the booking system works very well
Service was slow and the food is restaurant prices for pub food
Everything we had was cooked perfectly. Mackerel starter, plaice and the risotto, very nice.
A vast improvement from the food we had here last month. Change of menu helped.
Staff very welcoming and efficient.
Visited for lunch on a Friday, family of 5.
This place had so much potential, it was clean and beautifully decorated. Our table was reserved and it was a nice cool welcome break on a hot day.
Our main issue is that the limited menu, in itself not a bad thing as we find fewer dishes can be cooked well and with finesse, was restricted even further with half of the menu not available. The majority of the fish dishes were not available, at a restaurant specialising in fish, this was disappointing, and the steak was running low so one of our party had to change their order. They had also run out of various drinks so we had to change our drinks selections too. The only thing we did manage order from the full menu was dessert.
The food and drink we did receive was excellent, tasty and well presented. It was just disappointing that we weren’t able to have the full selection of food and drink.
What a beautiful location and the food was outstanding. It wasn’t really busy either which was nice.
Lovely views and delicious food. Very friendly staff.
The staff worked hard and once we got to our table the service was good. However the food was very mediocre . We had the burger and the haddock risotto. The Shiraz was okay and the total bill was £55 . Nice atmosphere but limited real ales and probably won't return in a hurry to eat.
Atmosphere and food were excellent along with the service. I agree with other comments that the prices are rather high for beverages and food.
Dover sole and Mussels were rather small portions for a main meal
Fantastic location and dog friendly so will be back.
Had a great Sunday Lunch here. Good and service were both very good and the pre-requested high chair was ready at the table. Thank you.
Excellent location. Great food. Waitresses were very attentive. We had our starter but then unfortunately had to wait an hour for our main food.
Great place lovely food & service, will definitely return. It would be nice to see more veggie options on the menu
Excelllent location and the service was good. Food was excellent but a bit pricey for what you got. Sides were extra and not huge portions either.
Over priced wine, food did not leave us as locals with a positive recommendation to others. It’s a shame as it used to be quite good.
Obviously looking for tourists and not local trade.
Maybe the approach will change when the winter comes....
Lovely setting overlooking Seaton Beach. Food was fantastic, and staff very friendly and welcoming. Well worth a visit.
Service was very good. We were greeted upon arrival and shown to a suitable table. The waitress was very attentive.
Most of the food was good, with the asparagus salad deemed excellent.
However I ordered Mullet (at £18) and received a very small fish with an interesting sauce, but no vegetables. I had trouble with bones, but the main shock was how small the fish was (6" long) - it was probably not fully grown - which didn't justify the price. It became the joke of the group that I must be on a diet.
Also a minor gripe was that the sparkling water came from Harrogate. Surely the carbon footprint could have been reduced by using Cornish water (we have friends who bottle the stuff on a nearby farm).
We ordered rump steak and burger both were dry and tasteless.Menu quite limited. Over priced but a beautiful location.
Slow service, although pleasant staff. Always have to wait about fifteen minutes to order drinks and then another twenty minutes to actually get the drinks! Been there many times and same each time. (We go because of the views and close proximity to home.) The main courses are generally very overpriced. Often all you get is the protein part of what most people would class as a whole meal, ie meat, fish, veggie protein option. You have to order extra chips or salad if you want something to go with the protein. For example, you order a lemon sole for about £16 and get just a tiny fish with a tiny bit of samphire on the side. No carbohydrate at all. Also ordered mullet and literally just got a fish on the plate! Not even samphire that time! At least both fish were cooked well and tasted great. Another disappointment was that the saucy garnish layer on the fish was put on top of the skin, so had to scrape that off , then take the skin off and put the sauce back on before eating the fish.
Having said that, staff always lovely and the ambience and views are great.
Couldn’t fault a single thing , excellent staff , great atmosphere and lovely food .
Delicious food, great service and lovely location. Staff very polite and helpful. Portion sizes were more than adequate and it was obvious good quality ingredients were used. Can’t wait to go back.
Was the worst meal I have ever eaten
I had fried crab cakes for starter the dressing overpowered, so could not taste the crab
We both had grey mullet all we had was a piece of fish no vegetables the salsa topping was far to strong that we could not taste the fish
Would never go back too this restaurant even if you paid me
Lovely meal sat outside overlooking the sea. The service was very good as was the food, we will definitely be back (we are locals).
We sat outside watching the sun go down beautiful setting service was a little slow but it does say they are advertising for more staff unfortunately desert took far too long to come had to chase it up
The view was amazing but the service very slow, the starters where spot on however the mains, which for me was mussels the sauce was a wash with bits of Herbs & swimming in what I presume to be olive oil, the sauce was actually meant to be real ale add to that the dish only had 6 mussels & the shells were broken on 2 Of those so that was also added to the sauce mix
Fantastic service and great food. Would highly recommend
Excellent food and good atmosphere. Worth a visit if in the area
Lovely pub, delicious food 😋 I had the vegetarian beetroot, goat cheese salad omg it was delicious 😋 5 stars xx
Our food was great and everything that passed by looked great too.
Dover sole was excellent really tasty and well cooked. Steak wasn't great under seasoned, over cooked one side, chips obviously refried a few times and some inedible . Considering it was nearly twice the price of the fish I'd of expected it to be a lot better. Definitely not a £27 steak. Service was lovely, quick, attentive and polite. Have the fish😊
Great place, very friendly and helpful young staff, food great and reasonable value, ambiance and outdoor terrace is really special with spectacular views over the coastline. Slightly reticent to divulge what a gem this place is as don’t want it to be booked out all the time.
Beautiful spot and very good food
Lovely place to stop and chill very good service and food average price not cheap but good quality
Overall very good experience considering circumstances
We normally eat here several times each time we come down on holiday. In August 2020 and April 2021 we were really impressed with the service, food and ambiance. Last night we ordered 2 simple meals (fish and chips and a burger) and they took almost an hour and a half to arrive. We had to ask several times if the food was coming. When it did arrive the food was fairly mediocre- the fish and chips was all skin and batter- very greasy and very little fish. The burger was advertised as having streaky bacon in it- it didn’t- it did have lots of mustard which wasn’t mentioned on the menu or I would have asked to have no mustard. We could have complained about the meals but by that stage we weren’t prepared to wait any longer. Other tables were also complaining and the restaurant wasn’t even that busy. I hate to think how they will cope in Summer peak season.
We were mainly disappointed with the service as it was incredibly slow. We got served drinks quickly then had half hour wait for starters followed by 3/4 hour wait for main. We then gave our dessert order and after 40 minutes told them to cancel it. No one came to apologise for the delay and it would have taken only a few minutes to put a scoop of ice cream in a bowl! I felt it was overpriced for average food. I really don’t like giving negative reviews, I feel they needed to either employ more kitchen staff or not take so many bookings.
Disappointing that most of the white wines were unavailable, no risotto, no fish and chips and only one ice cream flavour.
Earlier in the day drinking on the terrace was lovely.
A very enjoyable and to be repeated experience. Food, staff and atmosphere excellent.
This was our first visit to Inn on the Shore. Fantastic food, excellent service , a lovely atmosphere and stunning views. Highly recommend.
Lunch, very friendly staff food was good quality and well presented. Could of used a touch more seasoning for my palate.
