It is his passion for excellence, beaming hospitality and tireless work that have been the hallmarks of John's 30+ years as one of the Capital Region’s most popular chefs. He is known for his outstanding food that he serves to "real" people in a fun and unassuming style. His simple philosophy has always been "put the love on plate." In doing this, people feel comfortable when reading his menus and do not feel as if they need to be a chef themselves to understand it. There attention to safety and welfare of both customers and staff during these trying time is outstanding. This is the only restaurant we feel safe enough at.
We sat down for our reservation and understand that with Covid there are rules that need to be followed. For example, how long patrons are able to sit at a table. We sat down and our waiter asked us if we wanted tap or bottles water and we responded tap. He came back immediately and said, “are you ready to order?”.
We responded we needed a couple minutes because we had just sat down but could we get some drinks. He then proceeds to say, “okay you can have another minute but when I come back I need a food order and it’s NOT negotiable”.
We were both pretty surprised by this response and quickly put our order in. We had wanted to leave immediately after this interaction but since it was a later reservation we were hungry and thought we would just ignore it. He comes back quickly with wine (and leaves the opened wine bottle on our table which I don’t think is incredibly safe given while sitting we don’t have our masks on) and proceeds to ask what we want for food.
When the food came out it was cold and we decided not to say anything because we wanted to eat and leave quickly. We had ordered a burger and steak tacos. Our waiter kept asking us if he could clear out plates when we weren’t finished eating and finally I just asked for the check so we could leave. We were there for just about an hour.
I understand that with Covid there are rules in which restaurants and staff need to follow (time limits) and that waitstaff are under a tremendous amount of stress. What I do not understand is how we were treated and spoken to being paying customers.
It was great to dine at Innovo Kitchen once again after 6 months away due to the pandemic. Our waiter Steve was very attentive and knowledgeable.
Good food and service. Wine selections a bit weak.
Loved my cocktail. Their onion soup is absolutely delicious- not a French onion soup. Had that with a great salad. Heaters on at our outdoor table kept us warm. Will be back.
Table for 2 for brunch outside. Coffee and latte as well as the churro French toast, breakfast burrito and breakfast hash were delicious.
I’ve been going to Innovo since it’s been open and I’ve always enjoyed it people food always great but this past Saturday we had a new waitress that I’ve haven’t seen before and her approach on things wasn’t very good I get the COVID thing but u should really have an available paper menu for an older person that doesn’t have an I phone ( my aunt ) also we were told upfront in a not so nice way there’s a 90 min time on the table which I’m ok with I get that part of it dining outside but don’t come to my table after exactly 66 min and tell me u got 5 min. It’s not so much the time table it’s the way the host said it he knows me because I go often
He could of easily said to me any chance I can get the table early I would of been more then happy to Accommodate but for a person who has been going for years let’s just say I’m not going back for the simple reason you should not talk too or treat any people that way !!
The food was good however the service was okay. The waitress seemed in a rush to get out of the restaurant and the staff was clearing our plates before we were even finished eating. In addition, in the middle of taking our orders our waitress said excuse me I need to go attend to another table which was a bit rude. She also cleared one of our guests drinks when she was in the middle of it which also did not add to the overall experience. During a different time, I would recommend going back as the food was decent and with a different server I feel maybe the experience would have been nicer.
The waitress informed us after we’ve been sitting for about a half an hour that there were a lot of reservations and the tables really need to turn in 90 minutes. And then when we exceeded the 90 minutes she looked at the hostess and shrugged. I will never go there again.
We apologize that you felt rushed. There is a sign at the front desk indicating the 90 minute limit, there is also a sign on your table. We understand this is not ideal, restaurants are in survival mode at the moment. We feel 90 minutes is a fair time for a nice dining experience. It's imperative to turn tables for us to survive the 50% limits put on us. We respect your choice to never return, we hope that won't be the case. Please know any restaurant you choose face the same hardships.
No QR code at the table, and the menu on their website is not updated.
90 minute limit because of COVID- servers could do more to remind of this and keep the pace of food ordering/service to match this rule
Girlfriends meet up, all three of us had a pasta dish, there wasn't a crumb left. Two salads split between the three of us, just enough. Delicious! And our server was excellent. We always have a good meal here.
Always reliable good food. Loved the lobster roll plate. Baked beans, fries and coleslaw wonderful addition to the delicious lobster roll.
Lots of outdoor seating and great service in the middle of the afternoon. Great to have a place nearby that serves all day long.
Great drinks, delicious food— DEFINITELY try the queso dip!
It was our anniversary and our first time dining out since Early March. This is the only restaurant we felt safe enough to dine at. Everything was great
We dined inside and it was a bit chilly ..service was excellent! My husband got the fish fry special which was excellent! Food took a while ..backed up in the kitchen ..so the bun on my lamb burger kinda fell apart .. loved the complimentary white bean and crackers ..❤️..
Lobster roll was STUFFED with Lobster. Always more difficult than necessary to use frequent diner points, but food is amazing
The noise level is very high as are the prices. But the menu includes some imaginative choices and the food is tasty, skillfully cooked and nicely presented.
Good time in nice atmosphere - will be going back again
It’s been our favorite restaurant. That’s why we had dinner date there on the night of our 25th wedding anniversary. We had a wonderful time.
Brunch with the family. Enjoyed our meals and mimosas. Breakfast burrito, French toast and chicken and waffles. It was very relaxing and a treat to go to brunch.
The waitress was lovely, and prompt with any requests. Everything was very clean and well managed
Well distanced, amazing food, great service. I might suggest to bring bug spray; it had JUST had a downpour, so mosquitoes were out in force. Was our first meal AT a restaurant since March, and we felt very safe. The heirloom tomato burrata appetizer was a dream. And they still bring you chocolate bark, just wrapped up now :)
Innovo is without a doubt one of my favorite restaurants in the area. The service is top knotch, the food is absolutely delicious, and the drinks, dont even get me started. Definitely a must try if you’ve never been.
Innovo always prepares delicious things.
On this visit we came for lunch.
Both my friend and I ordered salad.
We noticed the protein options were quite expensive (more on the level of NYC pricing).
$20+ for a lunch salad is at the top of the pricing range for the Capital District area.
Our meals were wonderful and creative. Staff was wonderful. First outside dinning experience that felt like really getting out to dinner!
Really enjoyed our meals and the fish taco appetizer was the highlight!
Wonderful to sit outside and enjoy delicious food.
Service was a little slow but given all the new restrictions, it's very understandable. Our meals were excellent.
Great in all aspects! Including food, wines, décor, vibe, service, pricing....
One of the best places in the Capital Region for Sunday brunch. Outdoor dining during pandemic is a plus. The entire restaurant provides more than adequate social distancing space between tables. Service was very good and quick. Very professional and friendly wait staff. Highly recommend making a reservation 24 hours in advance for Sunday brunch.
I would like to give an update on my past review I spoke with the owner Tina about my last review and she couldn’t have been more apologetic and concerned about our experience . I give her a lot of credit to go out of her way to speak with me. It just shows how much they care about there business and there customers. I know I said I wouldn’t go back but after our conversation I will definitely go again. Besides I can’t resist the steamed pork buns one of my favorites!!
Cod bake with baby clams, corn and potatoes was the best thing I’ve had in a very long time. Exceptional.
Great spot with a diverse and interesting menu. Good selection of drinks and nice team of people running the place. One of our favorites.
Food was cold and eggs were undercooked. The mimosas were mainly orange juice. Innovo has gone down from when I started going two years ago. Honestly, would not go back
everything was fine very comfortable god food good service
Generous portions good food happy with waitstaff able to eat outdoors
The Sunday brunch menu is excellent! This was my second time going there for brunch. I ordered the churro French toast and my husband ordered the K.I.S.S. and we both thought our meals we’re outstanding! My husband had potato casserole that came with his meal and it was incredible. Next time I go, I’m going to order a side of that.
Our waitress was outstanding...brunch was amazing and the outdoor seating was beautifully done especially amid the current pandemic. Love innovo but love it even more now
Such a great place to dine outside! Great food, safely delivered, great service too!
Great time. Summer Chowda dish was superb! And so was the sangria cocktail with moscato.
