Great place and food was delicious but parking is an issue.
Delicious food, great atmosphere and we really enjoyed our visit.
Very good food and pleasant and efficient waitperson.
A great spot - always a bit crowded when it's a big weekend but a fun vibe and good service with solid food
Great to watch sports while eating, just make sure to ask for seating in the bar area.
We had 8 people with us so this review provides a good sampling of the menu. Here is a summary
Reuben - Excellent, one of the best we every had
Burger - overcooked and dry
Buffalo wings - Good, not great
Cooked veggie appetizer with lettuce wrap - very good flavor but awkward to eat
Hummus appetizer - Very good
Jambalaya - OK but can't compare to something in New Orleans. They used to have a chicken Gumbo that was excellent but is unfortunately no longer on the menu
Crab cake sandwich - Very good if you are not in Delaware or Maryland where the standards are much higher due to proximity to the Chesapeake Bay. This Iron Hill was in Delaware and you can get a much better crab cake sandwich at a number of places
Chicken Caesar salad - very good
falafel - good
The service people were very nice but the service itself wasn't great. We had to ask repeatedly for drink refills and after waiting 10 minutes for an extra fork we finally gave up and stole one from another table. That was minor, the drink refills were annoying. However, the food came out in a reasonable amount of time and it was hot and fresh.
Bottom line, i would go there again but i would have a better idea what to order now and i would ask for a drink refill after i took my first sip.
Table was ready when we arrived. Great seat by the window.
The only thing I don't like about Iron Hill Newark is they seem to put seniors and parents with kids in the back of the restaurant when the main dinning reaa is open.
Sarah is tremendous, so is the Pumpkin Ale. Thank you
Lovely wait staff: friendly and attentive. The apple squash soup was delicious, as was everything else!!
Highly recommended. Fantastic appetizers and menu. Great place to take your student(s) when visiting
The restaurant was crowded, but we made a reservation and it made things go smoother. The noise level was fairly high. The servers were friendly, they could have been more attentive, though. Overall, it was a good experience with decent pricing for the quality of the food. The creme brûlée was excellent.
I was told at the front of the house that my Open Table reservation did not come through.
We always love Iron Hill! Our go-zero spot to dine, and it’s a good ways away from us! This time, we were sat toward the back which was rather empty but filled quickly. Bibi was our server. She appeared to be new, but shows strong hope that she will be a great server with more experience. Very informative about what Iron Hill is. We’ll be back!
Great food at Iron Hill Brewery. I try to stop every time I'm in town..
Having been dining here for over 20years ! Always have a wonderful experience and tonight was no exception! Our server Laurel was on point even though it was a game day afternoon! Love coming here anytime though out the year but always a fun and exciting atmosphere when the students are in town and a game to boot ! Our family tends to stick to our favorites- nachos , egg rolls love the salmon when available! Tonight was the Philly eggs rolls, muslim salad , ribs & the standard cheese burger ! A large selection of in house beers to accompany all our food choices ! A solid choice !
The kitchen accidentally substituted a chicken for salmon in one of our orders and the waitstaff members were profusely apologetic. The person in our group did not mind as the dish was excellent. But the manager came over to the table, apologized again, and insisted that the dish would be complimentary because we did not get everything we had asked for. This is what you call outstanding service and attention to detail. We had a wonderful time, as we have had in two other visits here in the past six months. We will be back!
Understand it was a football game day at the U of Delaware. As a result I made reservations for a party of 5 for 1815 with an expectation to be seated in a nice booth by 1830.
We arrived about 10 minutes early and were told our table was being cleared. Then we started noticing parties that had arrived after us being taken back. At 1820 we asked how our table was coming and it appeared there had been an “oopsie”. So OK it happens. But no apology or explanation. We were quickly herded to the back or “overflow” room.
Now we are not infrequent guests at this establishment. I am member of their “King of the Hill” club and I knew that room as especially LOUD an free of pleasant atmosphere as I had hosted a birthday party there in the past.
I mentioned I am hard of hearing. I mentioned I could not hear the Maitre D at all and, although we had noted booths being cleared on our way to the “outback” room we were not offered a different option.
Food was very good. Service apologetic and excellent. My evening was miserable.
Excellent meal with friends. Really enjoyed the Pumpkin Spice beer too!
Great beer, great food at good prices. Parking could use some improvements, though that is out of their control.
We eat here often, food was good, Salmon was perfect! Surprised to have such spotty service this visit. Simple stuff, refills on drinks, spoon for soup ( I mean no spoon and no server in sight to ask for one) . Dishes not cleared. We felt ignored and I’m sorry, I just hate that. Waitperson didn’t check on us until we were all done and all we wanted was the check and to get out of there.
The Margarita Flat Bread “with” mushrooms added; Chicken Pot Pie; Pan Seared Top Sirloin (Med-rare temp) & Naked Burger Salad were all very good. The Maine Lobster Flat Bread was not a favorite. Service was top notch.
Excellent experience! We were a party of 8 including a toddler and infant. The staff at Iron Hill are wonderfully accomodating. They had a booster seat for the toddler and a sling for the infant in the carseat. The waitstaff and servers were attentive and food and drinks were great!
Eat here frequently when visiting our daughter at college. Food & service always good!
Two out of 4 orders were wrong, service was slow, the beer was on the warm side and the noise level was obnoxious. Management provided a gift certificate as an apology but the bill for 3 burgers and 5 beers came to over $70. if you are looking for over priced food, average beer with slow service and a 50/50 shot if your order will come out correctly - this is the place for you....
We've been going here regularly for twenty years and this was definitely our worst experience. The salmon was overcooked. The burger was undercooked (it was requested well-done and came out medium). After 15 minutes, a replacement burger came out and was undercooked just the same. Only the southwest grilled chicken salad came out correctly. At least they credited the burger (since it was never eaten). Both rounds of drinks were delayed. Our waitress seemed to be apologizing all night. I had the impression they were both understaffed and had new people working. A manager apologized and gave us a $10 coupon for a future visit.
We were traveling for business but brought our kids - wanted a fun restaurant with lots of food choices and found this at Iron Hill Brewery. We asked to be seated outside and was accommodated - what a fun place to spend an evening. The street this restaurant is located on is full of things to watch, our food choices were delicious and our waitress was friendly and courteous- she made our meal better by her service - would love the opportunity to visit again.
I am so sad to write a poor review of Iron Hill. It must have been an off night ....This has been our go to restaurant for years. I think we will be taking a break for awhile, or just order food hard to screw up.
I ordered pan roasted crispy skin 1/2 chicken having visions of golden, pan seared crispy yumminess and what arrived was a pale , soggy piece of chicken. The skin was unpleasantly drooping to one side almost in shame of its flabby disposition. Perhaps brined too long ...
I couldn’t eat it and had to send it back. The manager was responsive and apologetic. I appreciate her professionalism.
I settled on an appetizer.
A steak ordered did not deliver in flavor or texture as if it had been pre cooked then reheated. Usually Iron Hill Brewery produces some tasty food. This time around we left surprised and wanting.
Service was excellent, food was as expected and served hot (those dishes that were supposed to be served hot!) and ready to go!
Thought chicken leg portion was small and probably from a Cornish hen? Crab meat and spinach was good but again a small portion. If I pay $20 for a meal exclusive of the appetizer I like feeling filled up but was disappointed on this end. Furthermore, the outdoor table was wobbly and couldn't exchange it for another. Finally, my wife didn't like the type of lettuce in her salad.
Iron hill in Newark needs a refresh - the tables are sticky and grimy and I feel like I am at Applebee’s and not the Iron Hill that I am used to from our time in Lancaster. The food was also off at this visit. You either get a normal sized pile of fries or what has become a funny handful scattered on the plate. This was the night of everyone getting about ten fries each. The fish and chips were also off but the service was great.
We had a great dinner. Service was great and food was very good and the drinks were cold. They seated us at the front window, and the only complaint would be they did not have any type of shade for the front window. We built a tower to block the sun from hitting our one guest in the face.
Great food and great service!
Over priced for how much food you get. The beer was good!!
Food and server were good. Overall experience was only fair as food service was very slow for a party of 1.
In Delaware for a conference. This was in walking distance of our hotel. Made a reservation since we had 9 people in our party. They had the table ready and gave great service! Everyone enjoyed their meals-menu had something for everyone.
Food and beer were excellent. Service was a little slow but our server was very friendly and everything else was good.
I had one of their signature burgers and it melted in my mouth. My burger tasted very fresh and I could tell the meat with high quality. Salads were also very good.
I absolutely love Iron Hill!! I live an hour away from Newark but every time I drive by the area or have an event to go to, I make sure to stop by this amazing restaurant. I love ordering the Drunk Monk Burger wide an extra side of fries. I'm a bit lactose intolerant but the cheese on the burger never gives me any trouble which tells me that the cheese is supreme quality! The service is always nice and the place is very clean. I love the aesthetic of the inside and the outdoor dining is just as excellent. 10/10 would recommend to my friends (and I do!) It's quite a treat to go to Iron Hill.
Always great beer, food and service at the Newark Iron Hill Brewery. Been going for 7 years and never disappointed. Great job folks - keep up the awesome work.
