Very good lunch out with the family
Lovely meal for fathers day. The bento box for £20 including a glass of prosecco was great value as well. The food was lovely & fresh & both pork belly & beef were cooked to perfection. As ever the staff were a pleasure. Attentive, polite & knowledgable they also made an effort with our 2 year old daughter.
The restaurant itself is beautiful, certainly one of the nicest venue's in Leeds. Light, modern, clean & airy with amazing views & a lovely roof terrace with views over the city. The warm rice oudding with caramelised banana's & banana ice cream is one of the best you can have anywhere in Leeds. Absolutely tremendous
Got seated straight away. The service received was brilliant. The server took a lot of time to explain the menu and advise which was very helpful. The food itself was beautiful. Very well presented and tasted amazing. Lovely atmosphere, the whole experience was well worth it
Totally amazing as usual
The food here is gorgeous. Great atmosphere and fabulous service. My only critique is that it is very over priced for what you actually get.
Delicious, but it’s definitely not a fast lunch so make sure you have the time to enjoy it.
A fantastic Japanese restaurant second only to Ogino’s in Beverley but a very close second. The pre-theatre menu was amazing & to be highly recommended. Good food, great price & fabulous surroundings. Will definitely return
The food and service were absolutely spot on - absolutely no complaints could possibly be made... however, it was unbearabley hot. We were sat near the open kitchen but I think the air conditioning was either turned off, or not functioning. I feel like I should add however that I was on a first date with an incredibly attractive lady so perhaps my nerves were just making me sweat :D
The overall experience was fantastic and I'm looking forward to going again in the future
Our third time at Issho and absolutely our favourite place to eat in Leeds.
We chose the pre-theatre menu as we were heading to the Grand and booked our table for 6.15, envisaging an hour for dinner. Our only minor gripe was that service was really slow (1 course in 40 minutes) until we said that we needed to be away from the table at 7.20 at the latest.
Our waitress, Alex, was extremely attentive and the chef and his team rushed out three courses over 25 minutes - all beautifully presented and consistently delicious.
As I said, it was a minor gripe and will not put us off from returning - though maybe next time we book slightly earlier and let the staff know when we need to be away.
The food is always great here but the portion sizes leave a bit to be desired for the price
Not good I don’t really write bad reviews but this place needs to reinvent itself
Very nice ambience and the food and service was great.
An excellent meal. As there were two of us, we chose the gourmet meal as it enables us to try many different dishes. The courses were delicious -each dish tasted so different, a lovely combination of flavours and beautiful presentation. We had to ask for a rest at one point! The service was great and I liked the fact that the waiter kept our glasses filled with tap water (as well as pouring the wine). A special meal.
Amazing food, good wine, good atmosphere. Over all pretty good value and works well for groups of people willing to share food.
Really attractive / stylish restaurant
Staff were attentive and friendly
However food is overpriced and I didn’t leave feeling full. Probably would go again but only for drinks not the food.
This is the most aesthetically pleasing restaurant I've been to in Leeds and the food tasted great. I will definitely be visiting again.
style over substance, lovely venue but poor value and inferior to yo sushi
Great choices on the menu would recommend the sushi.
Lovely dinner at Issho! Delicious food and great ambience in the restaurant! Had a cocktail on the roof top bar before dinner which was very nice as well, lovely decor, very cool! Only negative of the evening would be that after sitting down and ordering food at 8.30, the waitress re-appeared around 15 minutes later and said that if we wanted any more food then we needed to order now before the kitchen closed. Not only did this pressure us into ordering more (unnecessary) food but, it was also untrue as the kitchen stayed open for another hour and was serving another table! Despite this, it was a lovely evening and would definitely return!
Loved it amazing food and atmosphere will be back
Absolutely amazing food! The decor is fabulous, the only bad thing I could comment on is that there was one portion that was not brought out to us, so I questioned where it was and they then questioned me as if I were lying. The manager came over and described the dish to me as if I hadn’t noticed it, as if they didn’t believe me. The service after that then went down hill, we didn’t really see the original waitress after that and when taking payment she just smirked as if we had done something wrong. Everything else was excellent, shame on the attitude near the end.
Slightly disappointed at the smaller menu for lunch. Only was told this once seated so items I was looking forward too I couldn't have
I am legitimately obsessed with Issho. It’s been one year that I’ve been regularly dining at Issho with my mum and I boast about my experience to absolutely everybody! The food is perfect, the staff are lovely and I am basically friends with everyone that works there, the manager is super amazing and professional, the chefs are the best and the ambience is just wonderful. I am a fashion blogger and have even been invited to Issho for a PR launch event. The food has a higher price range than most places in leeds but it is well worth it because you know you are getting the absolute top quality of produce. Thanks for always being great.
Always love Issho. Amazing food and service.
Always an amazing experience. Food, ambience spot on.
Amazing food, great service and great atmosphere. It’s quite pricey but we expected that. Had a great evening.
HAd a fabulous evening ... I’ve been before with the girls but it was the first time my husband dined at Issho and he absolutely loved the food , the evening made Valentine’s that but more special xx
We arrived to be told that there have been a power cut two hours before our reservation. Nobody had had the courtesy to contact us to let us know. We had travelled from Holmfirth and were very disappointed. We understand that technology can let us down but a restaurant of Isshos standard should have contacted us prior to our booking. We will definitely think twice before returning.
Great night. Food was amazing and we'll priced ... Venue was great as well as the staff.. all in all a great night for drinks and food 👌🏾🔥
A great experience- excellent food , impressive service & great ambiance.
Would have given a higher score but for one thing.
The food was excellent, the ambience great - we had a really good table.
However I do NOT want to be accosted by our waiter at the end of dinner and told to put a good review on a popular Restaurant/Hotel social media site!! Really not want you want to hear instead of thank you for coming!
Lovely meal, nice post Xmas to have something a little lighter
Birthday celebration for the daughter she is vegan so good choice of food ! Super tasty menu and free flowing Prosecco. Reasonable prices for a Sunday lunch !!! Nice staircase as well
Great 6 course tasting menu! Really enjoyed the wine we had with it and Japanese whisky in the bar afterwards. Great night all-round, as usual!
Eaten and enjoyed many times for both lunch and dinner.
Only offered reduced menu this time, very disappointing. The restaurant should make customers aware of reduced menus at time of booking. If we had of know we would not have chosen Issho on this particular occasion.
If you book for 2.30 in the afternoon, the experience is heavily compromised. All orders have to be in for 3pm. Kitchen closes at 3pm to reopen again at 4pm. This doesn’t work well with the Issho concept, felt very much under pressure to make all orders in 10 minutes after being seated in the restaurant.
Service was poor despite the manager trying her very best to accommodate. Restaurant felt heavily understaffed compared to what we have become accustomed to. Many of the staff switch out between 3-4pm, the service during this time suffers further.
It took three attempts to clear the table, not good!
One of the ladies in the bar had a terrible body odour issue!
All these things combine to shatter the experience and don’t leave you wanting more, which is what Issho has done on many occasions in the past for both lunch and dinner.
- If you go for lunch and you want the full menu, check first.
- Don’t go late afternoon, you don’t get the same experience, instead book for 1600 onwards.
Dinner booked to celebrate family members birthday. Upon arrival requested that 2 of us have the tasting menu and 2 order a la carte. We were informed by the waitress and manager that everyone had to have the set menu as it was against restaurant policy. The reason given for this was that apparently customers were confused about their orders and complaints had been made about this in the past. The manager was rude and dismissive when trying to explain to her that this was for a special occasion. She had very little insight and to be running a high end restaurant in Leeds her manners/ tact have to improve significantly. The food can not be faulted but the overall dining experience left us dissatisfied. Quite frankly had we not gone for a birthday dinner we would have most definitely left to go to a different restaurant.
Lovely interior and excellent flavours. On the expensive side but a special meal overall. The tofu salad is a wonderful surprise!
Excellent lunch for a group of friends. Bar staff on arrival are fab and the service is excellent. Food was great also!
