We had reservations, if not, was a long wait. Service was great, enjoyed a nice meal and evening. Will be back again.
I enjoyed my appetizer and entrée. Everyone was pleasant from the hostess to my server who was training. I would definitely come go back!
If your looking for a great steak and some great side options this is the place to go. The maple butter that they use on their bread is addictive. I like that the serving staff all work as a team so you can stop anyone that works there and ask for something. Each time we asked for something we were given a smile and the item was brought quickly. The managers that work here are hands-on and walk the floor assiting their staff and making sure that the patrons have everything they need. The bathrooms are very clean which is a plus.
Dawson's is located in a shopping mall, so its focus has to be casual dining. Accordingly, it has created a relaxing well decorated atmosphere with more of a pub or lodge feel. The menu is varied, but not extensive, tasty and well prepared. Prices take into account that many diners will have children to feed as well. Altogether, it far exceeds a typical mall restaurant.
Melody provided excellent service!!! Service was speedy and the food was good. It was my first time there.
The filet mignon was cooked perfectly and was delicious, as were the sides that same with it
JB Dawson's is one of our staples for restaurants. Food is always good - service with the teams always works out well.
I often recommend to friends.
Birthday celebration. Unfortunately Birthday girl’s dinner order did not come out correct. Ordered a Cajun ribeye steak and received a sirloin. They took it back and 10 minutes later brought out the correct one but the rest of the table was almost finished with their meals
We stopped here on our way back from a funeral. We were seated promptly and bit waited awhile for our server. It wasn’t really busy at all.
Server was good at explaining the menu and specials and took our order quickly when he got to our table. Our food was brought out by other servers and none of them asked if we needed anything else or paid attention that our drinks were empty. We had to flag down our server again.
Food was mediocre at best. Got crab dip appetizer that didn’t have much crab and mostly cheese. Entrees were “ok” but not even hot. Child macaroni & cheese was basically pasta with cheese whiz poured over it. My chicken Oscar has little taste.
Disappointed in the experience
The crab dip and the cake dinner was very salty 2nd time I ordered same thing.
Have dined at the JB Dawson's many times. This is my wife's go to restaurant - I enjoy it on occasion. Food was terrific - I had shrimp penne pasta; she had sliders.
Just a casual Sunday afternoon is a scorching Delaware heatwave.
Always a good choice.
An old J Alexander’s that had started to deteriorate. Empty on a Saturday night which is never a good sign.
Really good food. Great service. It was a little warm in the restaurant but it was during a heat wave. Would go back again. Menu had good choices.
Good food and good service, but difficult to have a conversation due to the noise level.
This is our first time dinning at J B Dawson's. A pleasant surprise. First rate service, and five star food. definitely on our return list.
After reviewing the reviews online of multiple restaurants at the mall we decided on Dawson’s for our trip home. I normally don’t ever complete surveys but, The shrimp appetizer was larger than expected with good flavor. The ribs fell off the bone and the salad was an interesting tower, which was creative.
We finished the night with the chocolate chip cookie sundae which was pretty fantastic. Great evening out, thank you
Our server was friendly and efficient! She checked on us several times to fill our water, and to ask if we needed anything. In addition, the atmosphere in this restaurant was so comfortable. Also, our server recommended the desserts to us, which we ordered, because of her recommendations. We had a wonderful dining experience at Dawson’s! We’ll be back!
Thanks for the wonderful review!
Great experience! Seated quickly. Knowledgeable server. Food was cooked perfectly. We will be back again soon!
We had numerous servers who were not attentive. I found hair on my plate. My chicken sandwich was raw in the center, got no apologies for any of this. Will not be returning.
Wish this place was in my area.....
For the price of the steak expected it to be a good cut of meat but it was extremely fatty. I could have gone to Texas Roadhouse for the same steak and half the cost.
I always enjoy an opportunity to come here. The staff is always amazing and welcoming. The food is absolutely worth the value and they make amazing drinks as well!
Cobb salads were ok - the corn bread was dried out and burnt with really weird textured butter - I would skip that next time. Service and atmosphere was what you’d expect.
First timers! We loved the atmosphere! Felt like a steak house. Our server was lacking. My cocktail was God awful....pineapple martini....sour and had a bad after taste. Wouldn't get that again. The server was nice but while we kept waiting for different things...he was chatting up another server in booth behind us. Grrrrrr
The seafood was excellent as was the black beans rice and cold slaw. What the server did was very appreciated.....he brought my daughter an on the house dessert for finishing her cancer treatment with the approval of Stephanie the manager! Thank you. We'll return! And takes an hour for its to get there!
Great service . Quality food. Had a booth at the bar and the service was exceptional. We were visiting from Maryland and the online views were excellent . Recommend this venue when the college town is over crowded as well.
Very nice food was good
The Ahi tuna appetizer was dry tasting. The portion size for my scallop and shrimp entree was small. We were hungry and on a time crunch so we ate it and muddled thru. My entree tasted good- it was just small in portion and the shrimps and scallops were very small in size. Left still feeling hungry. I don’t think I will go back. The service was fine- they table share- so lots of people to check on you and refill a drink, etc.
The restaurant was pretty empty- but they sat all their guests near each other- and we were right outside the kitchen- when it would have been. I ER to have been away from the noisy kitchen and other patrons at tbkes that were available.
A usually enjoyable experience, this was not the case on Mother’s Day. We waited way too long for food to be delivered, one meal was too cold to eat. Asked for it to be reheated, and by the time the dish was delivered to the table everyone else was finished eating. Another dish obviously sat under a heat lamp too long, the crabmeat on top was crunchy, and the rest was lukewarm. Manager did apologize for how long it took to get the dish heated up, but what consolation is that when we waited almost 30 minutes for out meal, then just as long for the reheated dish. Our reservation was also messed up, I had to show the hostess our confirmed time, they had us listed for 30 minutes later. (Our cold dish was compensated)
Don’t go here on holidays! Will give them another chance based on past experiences.
We dined here on Mother’s Day weekend. The food was mediocre. I wouldn’t dine there again. Prices are high potions are small. Food was cold we sent most of our meal back for a do over.
Mothers Day Dinner
We were seated at the reserved time. Waitress was attentive and the food was very good. The coleslaw had no taste, but the waitress was quick to ask what other side she could bring. We had a good time.
We brought my in-laws to JB Dawson's because we loved their crab cake sandwich. My husband and I still do however, the crab cake was a just little too spicy for my 88 year old mother-in-law. The manager comped her meal and we ordered her a bowl of lobster bisque which she enjoyed ver much. Love the brown bread and maple butter with the meal. Service was excellent. This would have been a 5 star rating except that the chef might want to lessen the old bay or whatever the spices are in the crab cake so that it may cover a wider range of preferences...We will be back.
GraceF! Thanks so much for the awesome review! We will definitely check with the kitchen to ensure the Crab Cakes are being made properly. They are certainly not meant to be overwhelmingly spicy. Either way, we love hearing about great experiences and hope to see you again soon!
This was my first visit to this restaurant. It was my bestfriend birthday so I decided to treat her here because I heard great things about the food. Overall I really liked the restaurant, the quality of drinks, appetizers and food. My server was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. I would have given all 5 with my experience which was awesome but it boiled down literally to a baked potato lol. Please have a few available for lunch instead of having to wait until after 4pm other than that it was great.
Although our reservations weren't checked, we were seated right away. Our booth was very clean and the wait staff was very prompt. Our food was absolutely delicious. I can't remember what wife and kids had, but my Panko-crusted crab cakes were great. I had garlic whipped mashed potatoes and Cole slaw. We live in Baltimore, Maryland, but we often shop at Christiana Mall and will return to dine.
Server was great.
Thanks for the 5 star review!
It was very disappointing. My crab cakes were expensive and it was just a pile of crab with bread crumbs. My salad was drowning in dressing. The staff was lovely and attentive but the food was not at all worth it.
Excellent continuous food and service. I have been dining here for the past 5 years and never disappointed.
Eddieb, Thank you so much for the continuous patronage and the great 5 star review, however I do hope you meant to say that you're "never" disappointed! Please feel free to ask for me the next time you're dining with us. Sincerely, Randy Oxman, General Manager.
A chain nothing special
Amiandai, Thanks for the great review!
