J Sheekey Atlantic Bar
Open daily from midday until late, food is seasonal, delicious and affordable.
Appealing to seafood enthusiasts, but neglecting no-one, the menu offers small sharing plates of fish, shellfish, salads and game, not to mention with the very theatrical Plateau de Fruits de Mer.
The team is passionate and knowledgeable, serving from an open kitchen as and when the dishes are cooked.

Great location, food portion is a bit tinier than I expect. The place has plenty non-vegan and vegan options, quick and efficient service. Decor of the restaurant is pretty unique. seafood lovers will love this place.
Food was excellent. The fish soup was perfect. The waiting staff very attentive. The only area for improvement being the bar where we had to wait to be seated, which was crowded and service there was considerably slower.
Excellent food all round. The oysters especially good. Nice wine by the glass, staff all Super friendly and helpful. Overall a great way to spend 2 hours before a Long flight.
Best ever valentines treat. My wife and I were in London to see a show and booked before we caught the train home.
I normally love this restaurant but sadly the service was not up to the previous level. The wrong starter was brought to the table and when I said it was wrong I was told that was definitely what I ordered. I also ordered a main course but that was not done so when we had had our starters the table was quickly cleared and I had to make the point. Everyone seemed to be in a hurry to close and get home - You really cannot accept bookings after the theatre if you cannot be bothered to serve properly. I finished my glass of wine and the glass was promptly taken from the table and I was not asked if I would like another.
J Sheekey has been our ‘go to’ pre-theatre bar for a decade and half. It’s the warm up act that helps transform us from being stressed out London commuters into a chilled out and happy audience. It was on particularly good form this week; buzzy, glamorous ambience around the bar and fresh and flavoursome sharing plates served fast. It’s true the menu hardly changes and there is always a generous quota of foolish older men dining with younger women - but that all strangely seems part of its timeless charm.
Very nice food, very nice interior and location, just let down by very slow service. But I would eat here again as I really liked the food menu and interior, it felt like seafood bars in New York
Food is good
Ideal for a pre-theatre meal. Prompt service but we didn't feel rushed. The food was delicious, beautifully cooked and well presented.
One of the best seafood restaurants I’ve tried in London!
Great place for pre-theatre dinner. Very accommodating and they watched timing so you get to show on time.
I wish we had booked for the restaurant-not the bar - as the menu is more limited in the bar. But everything we ate was delicious especially the honeycomb ice cream dessert.
Only criticism is we got a very small table near the door- a bit cramped and we had everyone walking by us as we ate.
Birthday 85th my mum
Went for a date pre theatre and it was lovely.
Food was amazing, service was great! Will definitely go back
we enjoy dining after the theatre at this buzzy casual restaurant/bar and are made most welcome by the excellent staff.
the food is of a high quality.
The evening didn't get off to the nest start when we arrived to find ourselves seated side-by-side at the bar. As this was a birthday treat this was not what we wanted, and was worsened by the initial attitude of the front of house staff who effectively blamed us for "not specifying that we wanted a table" (despite my booking clearly stating that we had a "Table for 2". If diners need to specify that they want a table then Sheekey's need to state that clearly on Top Table and their own website. Thankfully my wife is made of stronger stuff than I and stood firm, and we eventually were sorted with a table after about 15 minutes (sadly spent at the bar being completely ignored by the bar staff).
I must confess I'd booked at Sheekey's based on previous experience of the main restaurant, but the Atlantic bar is a very different kettle of... well, y'know. Much brighter, much noisier (clientele and music), less dressy. That probably suits modern dining but wasn't really what we were after and I wish we'd booked the main restaurant.
The food was good but not great. The menu is a bit daft. I don't really understand how a Prawn and Crab Burger is a "sharing plate" - do we take alternate bites? I see it's not a sharing plate in the main restaurant but maybe the diners in the main restaurant are just more selfish. The burger itself was great but not really 20 quid great. To be fair, I'm not sure any burger is £20 great, especially sans fries.
On the positive side, the waiting staff were really excellent but if you're on a date night I would find it hard to recommend (go to the main restaurant instead). Just remember, if you do book, be sure to let them know you want to sit at an actual table.
Very impressed with J Sheekey's Atlantic bar, the food is excellent, the staff genuinely helpful and friendly,
Perfect for pre-theatre too.
We've not eaten there for a while , so we were delighted the high food standards and service are still maintained.
Highly recommend the bar seating area for a cosy dinner.
Ate at the bar pre-show. The food was excellent. The servers were friendly and attentive, but seemed to disappear into the pre-show rush when I was left waiting to order dessert and again when waiting to get the bill. Nevertheless, I would recommend both the restaurant and the American Bar and intend to go back.
£3.50 for bread we didn't order, endless waiting and repeated requests for drinks and the bill meant a much less enjoyable experience than we had hoped for.
Removal of the drinks (not the ones we had ordered and arriving 20 mins late) from the bill didn't really make up for the very disappointing experience.
Excellent shrimp and crab burger, highly recommend it!
Couldn’t be better.
The food remains absolutely top class
Exactly what you want for what I think is one of the best restaurants in London.
It doesn’t show off. It just does what it does for all its customers every time.
Food was very tasty, but a couple of options were sold out already (7:15 sitting) giving us limited choice. Good quality food but relatively pricy.
Haven't been here for about 8 years and thought I would see what it is like now that they have extended. The food is still fantastic. We had 2 starters to share, 2 mains to share - Atlantic Prawns and Dover Sole and a dessert to share. No booze as we are off it for Jan. The bill came to £124 including service.
All in all - great service, great food and lovely atmosphere! Highly recommend.
Great seafood and atmosphere
Great service and very fresh Oysters. Highly recommended
Having been going for years and the Atlantic Bar was the perfect setting to escape the hell of the West End in New Years but still be part of it.
The restaurant she advice customers this is a Tapas Restaurant. The food is over priced and not valued for money. The staff are over friendly maybe because they are unpaid.
There need to give customers value for money, the only way they get away with it is because is more of a tourist place
Always excellent. Opted for the Oyster Bar for a change. Was very quiet considering two days after Christmas. Good to do something different.
Delightful start to Christmas with excellent food as usual and very engaging knowledgeable staff. The skate was knock out and Alice the pastry chef made mince pie heaven please pass on thanks
Lovely atmosphere, fantastic staff and service. Would recommend to anyone.
Lovely ambiance, sat at the bar, had delicious sea food and great wine. Very attentive service.
Heard its a classic and best seafood place in town but the quality was so so only. Interior was nice but we were seated on the other end of the restaurant I guess the menu was different may be..
The food is always well presented and very tasty. The service is welcoming and professional. When visiting London a visit to Sheekeys is always high on our list. It never disappoints.
We had very good luck here, on our way to a play around the corner. We were seated at the counter, which is fine when you're concerned about how long it takes to get served. We shared a variety of small plates. Each dish (and the cocktails) were thoughtfully conceived and well executed. My wife eats fish, but no meat. It was nice to come upon a menu with so many options that we could enjoy together.
I’ve been going there for 45 years and As always great food great service and ask for Edward who has the most wonderful personality
Amazing food and very good service! Will definitely go back.
What a great spot great food and service
Every member of staff made us feel welcome and valued customers. The food and wine was superb! Excellent venue for pre or post theatre.
Great stuff, good joy, easy, great experience
Absolutely the poorest service I have ever received at any establishment, continental or otherwise. Appalling lack of attention to tables, compounded by a server who told us to “Wait” when attempting to place a drink order.
After being seated (with a reservation) and actively ignored for over half an hour, our party of four elected to take our considerable dining budget elsewhere. I would avoid at all costs, this establishment looks to cater solely to tourists unable to ascertain the meaning of value or service - much like the garishly lit outposts in the vicinity of Leicester or Times Square.
Tania and Alex were very very professional.
We had a fabulos evening,a geat restuarant.
Keep up the good work
