J Sheekey Outside Terrace at the Atlantic Bar
Great food, great atmosphere and friendly staff. Would recommend.
Food was excellent. Would return to restaurant but maybe not to outdoor terrace area as it did get a little noisy and rowdy with passers by but that’s no fault of the restaurant itself.
A delicious light meal on the terrace at the Atlantic on a lovely summer evening. We enjoyed the ceviche, and the burrata with asparagus salad. The standout dish was the octopus romesco... As with the main restaurant, J Sheekey never disappoints.
Wonderful as ever! I really enjoyed the new crab Thermidor soufflé on the menu from today. The sauce is perfect for dunking friies into. My mum thought the fish goujons were the best she ver tasted, as it was a Friday lunchtime, the place was full, buzzy and fun.
Sitting outside terrace is great fun if you like looking at people passing by. Food is amazing especially octopus recommend. Will definitely come back soon:)
Amiable staff and lovely shellfish, beautifully presented made the bill palatable, though a little on the pricey side for me. It was great to sit outside with the overhead heating and watch the passing tourists so all in all this is a place I would recommend.
We have never had seafood tasting so good before. The chef had really done an excellent job! And being outdoors? You don’t even realise! It it located on the loveliest (a bit busy, but) little, nice street. And the terrace was heated up perfectly.
We are definitely coming back!!
Great option for lunch weather permitting. Some tables are under heaters. They have large blankets for all tables You can order from either restaurant or bar menu
Booked for a dinner with friends. I had a souffle, and one friend had the fish pie - both nice albeit a bit small, and served unaccompanied. However, the other person eating ordered scallops for around £15 - 2 scallops! Drinks took a while to bring out, but other than that it was fine, and great for people watching of course.
A very special place to sitting outside under the heater if it’s cold, watching the world go by; AMAZING food and service and a special shout out to Daisy for her food and wine advice. (Vegetarians: ask for the veggie menu)
Brilliant fish restaurant in a great location. The staff are friendly attentive and polite.
I had really been looking forward to going back to Sheekey and trying the Atlantic bar. Unfortunately the service was appalling and very slow which somewhat spoilt the experience. We asked the waiter to stop to serve us a number of times and he was just too thinly stretched and carried on walking past us, it became comical.
This place projects itself as a higher-end, trendy spot for beautiful people; but, aside from its enviable locale for sidewalk dining, it didn't seem worth the inflated prices. Met by a bored-looking hostess whom I had to correct as to our outdoor booking (she did apologise), we then found the service painfully slow--we weren't offered a drink to start and then after several minutes of waiting to order both drink and food, the food took some time to arrive, and even then it beat the drinks by several minutes. There seemed to be not enough waiters (the one we had was nice enough), while two maitre d' types in sharp suits appeared to be pitching in when you could catch one. The food was OK. All in all, not relaxing, because of the service lag, and not worth paying over the odds for the fairly straightforward menu (unless you're just really into raw oysters and the like).
Was so looking forward to a seafood meal in London in the theater district and I ignored the bad reviews on Open Table in favor of the delightful ones on Trip Advisor. The experience was such a disappointment, and an expensive one at that. I will forgive the short wait at the bar since our outdoor table wasn’t ready. The alley table was charming. And I will forgive the bottle of wine arriving before the cocktail we asked to have first. Minor quibbles. But I can’t forgive being there for 90 minutes with only some oysters and one starter to arrive at the table. Being largely ignored by the staff on a slow Monday? We were there for dinner. Maybe that was our mistake. We would have been happy with oysters and wine after a show if that was our only goal. But we were there for dinner and hungry, left waiting for dishes that were very slow to arrive, in fact the post theater diners had their meals finished just behind us when we arrived almost two hours earlier. Maybe it was a bad night for the kitchen. But for the very large bill I would have hoped to have a steady arrival of dishes and not to have had to ask repeatedly for things we ordered to be brought out. Fries/chips arrived cold. I wish I could say we had a wonderful London seafood meal but all I can say is we had terrific oysters and wine and the rest was a pricey bummer. There are so many terrific places in London that are better to spend your American dollar.
It was ok! Nothing special!
My Starter was overdone but overall a good experience
Sat at table for nearly 30 minutes before drink order was even taken despite multiple attempts. Ordered the fruit de mer platter which took OVER one hour to prepare raw seafood. To top it off, it wasnt even busy!
We were recommended to visit this restaurant for its seafood and definitely not disappointed. I had the Fruit de Mer, which was absolutely fantastic and, I would say, all British shell fish. My wife had oysters followed by the fish pie - also excellent but unable to finish!
We sat outside and people watched, great if that's what you like although there is plenty of indoor seating.
The staff were excellent - friendly, knowledgeable, helpful.
I've knocked off one star for value as although the food was very reasonably priced considering the restaurant is in the heart of London's theatre-land, the extensive wine list was expensive.
I would, however, definitely visit again.
Buzzy, fun place. The scallops were absolutely superb. The cheese toastie with lobster, prawn and crab was a little too rich for my palate.
Sheekey’s is an old favourite, so we know it well - and love it through and through.
It was, however, the first time the service has been off point - our waiter had the air of being uninterested and slightly superior almost to the point of patronising. He certainly didn’t handle my confusion over the different menus inside (where we normally eat) and outside, and kind of made me look stupid in front of our friends!
Food was, as always, superb!
A table outside Sheekey’s on a hot day is just bliss, and eating seafood even better. Whilst we enjoyed our lunch, the sea bass was a little dry and disappointing. We had to ask for our bottle of wine whilst we were eating our starters, and then throughout we poured it ourselves - not what one would expect for this calibre of restaurant.
Very disappointing visit as have fond memories of this place! The food quality, portions, cooking skills etc are that of a high street chain but with prices twice as high
£18 glasses of champagne not served on trays! Full plates collected but not asked why we hadn’t eaten the under seasoned food!
I hate to say it but I’ve had better meals in Cote!
Birthday then opera
Very good food and lovely to sit outside. Lobster was first class.
Booked a table Friday evening, had 2 glasses of champagne, water, olives 1/2 lobster and salmon. Very mediocre food and service was average too. Lobster had clearly been frozen as the amount of water coming out of it when you ate it was a dead giveaway, also there was no flavor. The only reason this has got 2 stars is the location which on a hot London even was nice. There are far better restaurants in London for an £80 meal!
Always excellent although a little expensive. Have eaten both indoors and out at J Sheekey. Will definitely be back again sometime soon.
A pre theatre supper - attentive service, food arrived promptly and was very tasty. Waiter advised that portions were modest which was a welcome change from the usual monster portions that is increasingly the norm.
However, the tiny portions were not reflected in the bill which was eye wateringly expensive
Wonderful food and service and very welcoming to our little dog!
Lovely sunny spot for tasty small plates & wine/cocktails pre theatre in a convenient location.
Certainly not the normal standard we experience at J. Sheekey. My wife was sat at another table from me even though I had arrived early and was allocated a table. Staff was a bit harassed. We were not quite sure who our server actually was. We had to chase people for drinks and to order. Croquettes had fish bone in it. Took ages to get the tab.
We were really looking forward to this post theatre dinner. Unfortunately it was a little disappointing. We ordered staters of bread and olives to be told no olives but a couple who were served after us got olives and we had to ask for the bread and extra side after main course arrived. Two guests were ill overnight and both had prawns. All seemed rushed.
As usualy the gorgeous folk at Sheekey's made us happy and comfortable. we had deliciouse food and wine and a lovely, relaxed, Easter Monday lunch.
Delicious food from the Sea. Helpful staff. Very busy at pre-theatre time and a bit noisy inside.
Terrace was very good however a bit chilly that night despite the chimnea and the blankets.
Terrace in a small street where you can watch the passers-by going.
Only seats offered were at the bar... that i n itself would not have been bad, but despite the presence of a dozen guests dining, the bar area is not treated like a guest area. Workers come and dump dishes into trays, as loudly as possible; bottles are dropped into bins, breaking glass, etc. Food was just OK, and VERY overpriced.... doubly so the wines. Avoid like the plague!
Having visited J Sheeky a few years ago I was keen to take my husband. I booked online what I assumed was the restaurant but when we got there were somewhat dismissively told to go to another party of the restaurant where we waited and eventually were shown a table outside. I questioned this as at no stage was I advised I was booking outside. Again somewhat condescendingly I was told there were no ables available inside.
The range of available wines was not great and the one we chose turned out to be not available.
The waiter who served us was very attentive, but my overall impression was of a restaurant that rests on its history. I would not either go again or recommend it to friends.
Complete disappointment. Staff couldn’t bother less, forgotten orders, dirty surroundings. Our anniversary day was ruined thanks to this place. To never come back.
Really lovely pre theatre dinner. Had not been here in quite a while but was worth the visit back. Great food lovely wine and good value.
Excellent, friendly service, fresh, vibrant food with great flavour combinations and a cosy ambiance. My only beef was the price of the wine. The cheapest white was £42 which is ridiculous.
After having read a lot about this restaurant we were really excited to go and try it. We sat outside on the terrace which was lovely. The only problem was the extremely rude wait staff and the absolutely abissmal food. I had the squid which was over cooked my boyfriend had the scallop burger which was minuscule flavourless and served with a very small garnish. Literally could have made better food ourselves which was a real disappointment considering it was vastly overpriced for what it turned out to be. I wouldnt eat here again. Far better seafood restaurants elsewhere in London.
