Jack's Oyster House
Opened in 1913 by Jack Rosenstein, the restaurant has been continuously operated by the same family and is now under the direction of grandson, Brad. Joined by Brad is Executive Chef Larry Schepici. Together, they work to create the ultimate dining experience for you each and every time you visit. In their dedication to the tradition of Jack’s, they have developed a menu to satisfy their faithful clientele as well as delight a new generation of Jack’s customers. Our dinners were delicious & the service was outstanding!!
I enjoyed the raw oysters and the steak but the whole place feels like it is stick in time and needs a fresh update—music—ferns—making the Old a world come alive again.
Not impressed, but would give it a second chance. Seemed expensive for quality of food. Overrated.
We visited the first Friday during ent. There was a limited menu, we opted for the stuffed lobster tail which was ok. The lobster was a little tough and had to cut with a steak knife. At a$42 price you expect perfection. Otherwise a nice but pricey meal.
A friend from Albany recommended Jack's. I owe him big time. It was a great place to eat and very charmimg.

Had gone to Jack's with my son for a Saturday night dinner disappointed that we were not informed it was a limited Valentine's Day weekend menu wait staff was very accommodating although was not able to eat what we came for

We had a delightful Valentines Day Dinner; everything was delicious! It was a lovely evening. They had a prix fixe menu for the evening, when we arrived the tables were strewn with rose petals. Very nice touch!

I had the Prime Rib and it was DELICIOUS! Enjoyed an oyster appetizer at the bar before dinner. Always good to go home to Jack's Oyster House.

Its the charm, atmosphere,and most of all well dressed, manured wait staff (I enjoy that formality) that I go to Jacks for. The food is most consistent, not excellent, but always eatable . I don't mind paying for the total experience. We had the fried fish/chips (excellent) the filet sandwich (a bit dry) the oysters (excellent),shrimp cocktail enormous shrimp ( overcooked) and the butternut salad (disappointing) they did comp the salad. Dessert the chocolate peanut cake (excellent) creme brulee (passable)
No matter what, its the best old establishment in ALBANY and I recommend you good and enjoy your visit.

Attentive, elegant service; beautifully maintained, handsome and historic rooms; inventive and classic food—superb crab cakes and excellent veggie risotto—and good wine list. Jack’s is perfect for a special occasion or a post-legislative dinner. We’ll be back!

Wonderful restaurant. My Significant Other had steak- delicious. I had a pan seared salmon-too dry. Only two restrooms, not enough for the crowd. No coat room. Great place to go when going to the Times Union for a show

I think it was an off night. Celine Dion was in town. I think the server was new and she tried her best. She just didn’t seem super confident. Food was kind of blah. Always wanted to try it. Probably won’t go back.
Had a great meal, many customers going to Celine Dion concert. Service was top notch with our server Patrick. We'll be here again
