Jaleo brings alive the spirit and flavors of Spain with a menu reflecting the rich regional diversity of classical and contemporary Spanish cuisine, under the direction of renowned chef José Andrés. Jaleo offers an impressive assortment of tapas, the traditional small dishes of Spain, as well as savory paellas, superb sangrias and a fine selection of Spanish wines and Sherries in a festive, casual atmosphere.
A Jaleo favorite: fried potatoes with spicy tomato sauce and alioli
Gazpacho estilo Algeciras
Classic chilled Spanish soup made with tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, and bread
Seared salmon with basque style stewed vegetable
Great service, exceptional food, and puppy friendly outdoor!
Great experience as usual! The restaurant has implemented more COVID safeguards than any place I've been so far so you shouldn't have any reservations about dining here and the food is always awesome!
Excellent as always. Fully compliant with COVID prevention measures.
We had eaten here several years ago, and remembered the food being fantastic. It did not disappoint on our return visit, even during COVID. We ate outside, in a cordoned off area of the street, there was lots of physical distance between tables and our waitstaff wore masks (correctly, and they matched their uniforms!) and offered spray hand sanitizer each time they visited our table. They stayed several feet away during the ordering process, but we were never without what we anted or needed. The food was outstanding, and as I have a food allergy, they were very attentive, and modified an item for me so that could enjoy it with the group as well. Overall it was a terrific experience during a terrible time for our country.
Servers were great.
The salmon needs more flavor for actual Spanish style dish. Perhaps put the garlic sauce from shrimp dish onto the chicken ajillo, it tasted better. Just an idea. Overall, food was good.
Nice place & nice food! As a Spaniard, I can tell you that almost everything is really spanish food as you’d have it in Spain.
Sangria is improvable, but the rest is really good!!
Jaleo was wonderful - inside dining was so SAFE! They've put up plexiglas and are definitely keeping everyone safe and socially distanced! They wipe down/disinfect the chairs and tables before you sit down, use paper menus or the bar code on the tables so you can view the menu on your phone, and the servers and staff all wear masks and disposable gloves. Patrons wear masks whenever they're not at their tables. The food is always delicious and so well-prepared and tasty. The sangria is awesome - only tiny complaint is that they put in so much ice, you don't seem to get that much in the pitcher. Still, overall, it's a great place to go and I'll be back!
Great patio set up with good safe distance. Food and service was great
Food was amazing! Service was top notch! And for those worried about Corona the sanitation procedures were some of the best I’ve seen.
Jaleo has quality food at a reasonable price. They serve mostly tapas (appetizer sized portions), which allows you to try more dishes during the same meal.
It was pretty good and peaceful for a family dinner date. I enjoyed the food and our waiter was super nice. Will definitely be going back.
Super glad to see how Jaleo is going back to its roots now that it has reopened its doors for full service. After a few years of decreasing food quality and service, my husband and I were very impressed by both the excellent food and efficiency and friendliness of the staff. Likewise, the tables are spaced enough with glass divisions that provide good social distance. Nice way to go back to dining out in the middle of the pandemic.
It was a wonderful experience— my first since the pandemic started in March. I was sooo happy to have some of the chef’s famous dishes—espinacas a la catalana, ensaladilla rusa, buñuelos de bacalao and the fabulous flan for dessert. The staff maintained a healthy environment with distance, masks and hand sanitizers—we felt very safe.
Jaleo always delivers! The staff are very friendly and attentive, and the food is fantastic! We love sharing their wide variety of tapas. Also, the wine list is extensive and reasonably priced. We sat outside on a beautiful evening. Perfection all around!
The Server was excellent, as they are here. All servers are very attentive. Of course, the prices are high because it’s downtown D.C. The food is always very good. Sitting outside in the streets is starting to get old though, especially when the weather isn’t cooperating and it’s hot and humid. I feel bad for the servers with their hot masks.
We enjoyed the outdoors seating (set up for Covid-19) and found it very comfortable. As always, we loved sampling tapas while enjoying a couple rounds of drinks. Always a fun place. Great food and service.
We live in the neighborhood. Completely support Jose Andres and patronize all his restaurants. The food is delicious and the service, exceptional. That said, it's really pricey. Lunch on Father's Day was around $90 per person. We can't make a regular habit of it, but his restaurants are great for special occasions, and worth it for those times.
The food was good although the salmon could have been cooked better. The drinks were excellent and our server was great. The dessert, the flan, was AMAZING. I would come here again just for the flan and drinks and possibly try something else on the dinner menu.
I can’t wait to return to try the rest of the menu.
We were celebrating a friends birthday. The food was great. The hangar steak was cooked to perfection. We asked for top shelf margaritas. They were awesome. The desserts were great too. We had a really good time. We will go back.
Jaleo is doing everything possible and then some to serve amazing food in the safest environment. This was our first restaurant we have tried in months because of the pandemic and we are really happy with how they have achieved a safe and comfortable environment.
Oh, the food is amazing as always too.
Visited Jaleo's with a long time friend for lunch. Sat outside. Their menu is electronic. They have hand sanitizer readily available. The host, waiter, and attending staff all had face covers and stood away from the table. It was a very comfortable experience and will return within the week.
It was a lovely time and a lovely meal
It was such a delicious treat to be back at Jaleo! The service was wonderful and the food was delicious as always! The whole staff made you feel completely comfortable! Great job of welcoming diners back to Jaleo with Outdoor dining!!! Thank you!
Very nice! Great experience, especially after being on lockdown for so long. Felt completely safe with social distancing maintained and tables 6 feet apart, being outside on a beautiful day, servers in masks wearing gloves, menus on our own devices! Food and drinks were excellent, as was the service! Highly recommend!!
Even with a slimmed down menu it was fabulous! Great to be there on such a beautiful night, and can't wait to go back.
First time in a restaurant since the pandemic. The staff was fastidious about wiping down the table, wearing PPE and maintaining social distancing. Of course the food was fantastic
Jaleo handled the pandemic very well. Safety protocols were in place. Food was fantastic . Music was a bit loud But that is my only minor complaint . Staff was super lovely
We were seated outdoors, the menu is online. The staff is considerate and distancing as much as humanly possible.
First outdoor restaurant experience post quarantine and it was great! All the staff were welcoming and attentive, the food was amazing (per usual) and loved the music playing. It was really a treat to come back to such a great environment.
The salads and paella were all wonderful! Unfortunately, with the COVID-19 restrictions, we were sitting on the sidewalk with (light) traffic going by so it was difficult to talk at times. Jaleo is doing what it can to make everything work so it was definitely worth it!
We love Jaleo, have been going for years and the quality stays high. It was weird this time with a mostly empty place due to coronavirus concerns. But the food was excellent and the service terrific, as always.
I felt like we were back in Spain, food, drink ambience and our waiter Juan Carlos was awesome👍🏻
The food was incredible but since it was my first time dining here it would have been nice to be introduced to the menu and walked through with more information.
Very good service. Gin and tonics specials were a treat.
We have been here many times before but have not been for a long time. This time, we were disappointed. The main issue was that my husband ordered the ham and chicken croquettes and he found a bone in one of them. This completely killed his appetite. The waiter did credit us for that one dish, but it really doesn’t make up for the fact that there was a bone in his croquette. The other thing that was odd was that the portions were much bigger than one would expect for tapas. For example, my husband received eight large croquettes! I ordered a soup and it was quite a large bowl. This might work if you had a big crowd and were passing things around, but it was just the two of us and we would have preferred to get a larger number of items that were priced and sized more reasonably.
Always a good experience. Good food, great lunch prices and good service.
We had dinner before attending a Shakespeare Theater production at the Lansburgh. We each ordered two dishes and shared. For me, the stand-outs were the three cheese plate and the fried eggplant. The wait staff was attentive and we had ample time to make the 7:30 curtain.
