Taking inspiration from the Viceroy’s house of New Delhi, the restaurant will be a glamorous Indian dining room with rainforest emperador marbles, dark timber paneling, gilded walls, and Lutyens inspired furnishings. The space will reflect the vibrant colours and intricate patterns of rare Jamavar shawls, offset with brass accents, hand-cut marquetry, and a sculpted bar that will celebrate the great textile traditions of India.
Dinner 17:30 - 22:30
Closed on Sundays
The food was absolutely amazing. And the service was on point.
We went there for my husband's birthday and I was pleased I didn't have to remind it for them to make it special for him.
Great atmosphere and great staff. Food was amazing
Excellent service and great food.
We had made a booking for 21.30 and had to wait for 20 minutes before our table was free. The girl at the counter was very friendly but we would expect that a free drink or something would be offered. The wine was way too expensive.
second visit. Not as good as first but it was the night of the england football semi. The wine we wanted (and one the reasons for returning) was not available. Mix up regarding starter but this could have been partly my fault. Overall a very good indian restaurant and recommended.
Superb service and exceptional creativity in preparation of flavorful dishes make dining at Jamavar truly memorable. Scallops Bhel was truly delicious. The trio of kulfis offered a perfect finish.
Super spicing of all dishes.
Dinner with out of town friends
Not impressing. Got problems after the food. Had much better Indian cuisine.
I am a big fan of indian cuisine, so was very excited to try out this Michelin starred restaurant after reading great reviews about it.
I went there for lunch and opted for the 3 course menu ( £29 ).
The first dish was a Pan-Seared Achaari Pork, masala puff, quail’s egg & pickled garlic. And I have to say this was one of the best cooked and flavoursome pork I have ever had. The pickled garlic was vey interesting and brought some pungency. The dish also came with an egg chutney which was delicious and brought the spiciness needed.
For the second dish I had the Malai Stone Bass Tikka mace, green cardamom & avocado chutney. I had very high expectations for this one after reading incredible reviews about this dish. The fish was indeed very soft and flaky, but it was a few second undercooked as the flesh was still slightly pink :/ But the flavours were on point and the avocado cooled the spiciness of the marinade.
For the main dish, I selected the Old Delhi Butter Chicken, after having been recommended this dish. But compared to the other dishes I had, this was just OK. The chicken came with many accompaniments as per usual in indian cuisine, including palak panner, a dal, rice and some bread (naan, roti). I was not expecting to get both bread and rice, as on the menu it said we could select either one, so I selected bread. As a result I did not even touch the rice, as there was plenty of food :/ As a veggie lover, I found that the side dishes more exciting than the chicken itself. The waiter even offered to bring more of the dal, but I had to refuse as I was already satisfied.
Overall, the lunch menu is great value for money, you can try many of the dishes without breaking the bank and leaving hungry. And, you also get a sample of dessert from the chef which changes everyday. I was lucky to receive a pistachio cake, which was delicious!
Definitely recommend this restaurant. Great for foodies, sharing, families, or to come solo.
One of the finest Indian restaurants in London. Service was superb and the food delicious. We will return soon
Really good. Biryani, kidgoat shami kebab and the Weekender menu were great. Chicken nihari was OK though. Great ambience.
One of the best Indian restaurants! Terrific, even if you’re not accustomed to Indian food, will appeal to everyone!
Have been to Jamavar a couple of times for lunch and it hasn’t disappointed. The set lunch is very high quality , delicious food and the service is excellent and unobtrusive. Jamavar is definitely on my list of favourites.. I must try dinner!
The food was in general ok. Nevertheless for a western taste it's too spicy. We liked the crab. But apart from that there wasn't any course that really astonished us for its creativity. Many Indian restaurants serve food as good as this and don't bear any Michelin star. Service was fast and good. The place was beautiful but a little noisy. Was ok but wouldn't repeat.
Food was delicious and service was top notch. The restaurant gave us a free slice of cake with candle for my friend’s birthday without us requesting. Overall very good experience. Thank you Jamavar.
Excellent food. Excellent Value
Amazing food, amazing staff! Couldn't fault a thing..
Food was delectable and cooked to perfection. Service was warm and friendly. Ambience is rich and classy. It’s the ideal spot for a very special occasion.
Another fantastic meal at Jamavar.
What an absolutely wonderful experience! My wife and I were celebrating an anniversary and couldn't have picked a better place. The food was great and the service was exceptional!
This was an amazing place, beautifully decorated, attentive but not over attentive waiters and the food was outstanding. Everything we had was excellent, perfectly seasoned and the spice level was exactly where we wanted it. No detail was left undone. Would come back here again without question.
Good quality Indian food. Lunch sets with good value for money.
Great set lunch, good options, easy location, definitely a place to return
Dined here on a few occasions and this was the first time we sat downstairs. I must confess I’m not a fan. Small room, slightly claustrophobic with too many tables squashed together. As a consequence we only had a main course, my wife’s dish of prawn moilee was first rate whilst my lamb shank was as expected, the stars of the show by a long way were the two side dishes of yellow lentils and cauliflower both excellent.
The food presentation was just ordinary, very basic. The person serving us didn’t even check who’s ordered what. He just assumed who’ll eat what n searved us the dishes. We had to then exchange ourselves. Not what you would expect. Overall staff was friendly
Big improvement from my last visit. Will go again definitely
We were referred to the Jamavar by friend who told us it was the best Indian restaurant in London. After our experience, we have to agree with him. It is rather pricey but the quality of the food and service was wort it. We did not go for a tasting menu but chose al la carte. The starters we chose were the king prawns and the soft-shell crab. Both were delicious but the crab was outstanding - the best we have ever experienced. For the main course the lamb shank was exceptional. The vegetable biryani is also to be recommended. Overall an exceptional and delightful, although expensive, evening out.
We had two friends over from Jaipur and wanted to give them a taste of Indian food in London and we were not disappointed, the food was delicious and the waiting staff first class, very friendly, professional and superb at recommendations, the only disappointment was at the end when we were asked, I felt impolitely, to leave to make way for later diners, we got up to leave and my wife who walks with a crutch didn’t have it returned to her, we had to find it and open the door ourselves to exit. However, the general manager has since very kindly phoned me to resolve the issue, this was done in a very professional and respectful way. It is often said that if things go wrong it is not the going wrong, which shows the true integrity, it’s the way it is resolved. On that count the General Manager Mr Prem Kumar was faultless and therefore, I highly recommend this restaurant as a top place to visit.
Jamavar's dark wood decor with painted panels of Indian gods is not the most suitable for a sultry early summer's evening , but how often do we get those? In most circumstances it would be warm and welcoming. We were seated on the ground floor, a large space with tables for 2 which were quite close together and round group tables in the centre. Service was excellent, attentive, friendly and knowledgeable from the start, making our experience very enjoyable .
To the food - we had the tasting menu with the accompanying flight of wines and between the two of us we tasted every dish. Deep fried soft shelled crab with plum chutney and whole garlic pickle was excellent, moist and tasty in a spiced golden batter. A small steak of stone bass in a yoghurt based coating with avocado chutney was also very good. Meats were a superb lamb chop and a green chicken tikka. All of these were "starter" courses and then for our main came full sized portions of butter chicken and green king prawn curry with rice, rotis and naan. Again, both were delicious, but by this time it was getting difficult to do justice to them. Puddings were both light and tasty , rounding the meal off.
By the time we left at 8.30pm the restaurant was full of people and a great atmosphere. The tasting menu was a very good introduction to the skills and variety on the menu, and we would definitely go back, probably order less and more selectively, confident that the food quality across the piece will be very high.
Had a wonderful meal and a great night. Great service by neil. The food was very very good. I would definitely go back.
Perfect really enjoyed
Amazing meal for my boyfriends birthday. Excellent service and beautiful food. Tasting menu with matching wine pairings is highly recommended. The sea bass was the highlight of the evening.
The food and service are excellent. The restaurant is very nice. We had the four course fixed price meal before going to the theater. We could not have been more pleased and highly recommend Jamavar.
Good food but whole experience compromised by rude service, something completely unnaceptable for a one star michelin.
Its overpriced. The set menu was just average.
The waiters kept attending and interuppting very frequently.
Absolutely amazing food! From the presentation to the taste. Everything was delicious. Definitely will be coming back. :)
Lovely food and service
We went for a early dinner set menu.
+ Great food, good staff, excellent ambience .
- Portion Small , 1 Naan & 1 Roti between 3 people
