We were recommended Jamavar by a few our family and friends, thought we would give it a go but were disappointed in the food. Although the food was good we felt it was overpriced for what it was and could have been a lot better. We also felt for an Indian restaurant the vegetarian options were limited to what we were expecting and we were unable to have dessert despite our table still having 20minutes left. The bill came up to around £280 for 4 people despite us not getting to desserts.
We did however take off the service charge as we felt the service was okay and the fact they kicked us off our table earlier and stopped us from having dessert.

Great experience, all the staff were friendly, from the time we entered the restaurant to leaving. Brilliant hospitality. Would definitely recommend Jamavar. Would definitely add extra praise for the two gentlemen who served us downstairs. Excellent service. Will definitely come back

We really enjoy the relaxed feel of this place. The food is super tasty and well cooked. Great wine list and knowledgeable staff. We are definitely returning!

Perfectly cooked dishes, good variety on set menus, excellent service and atmosphere. Would have liked more mocktail options but overall very satisfied, great for a date night

We loved everything, the only thing I found the food a bit salty for me, for my friend it was ok as she usually likes salty anyway and always add salt to any dish.

This restaurant to had been recommended to me by a friend. I went with my sister to celebrate a special occasion. We order the 4 course lunch set menu (£35 per head). We started with a glass of champagne, and then, after looking at the exorbitant price of the wine list, ordered a carafe of their cheapest rose (not impressive). The first three courses were good, but the desserts were not worth eating. The bill came to £162, ie £70 for the food and £92 for two glasses of champagne and 500ml of an indifferent rose. We spoke to the waiter, and they removed the service charge, but either way I would never go back. Their drinks list is exorbitant, and although much of the food was good it was not somewhere where you could enjoy a meal out.

The food is incredible! I am a fussy eater when it comes to Indian food but their food is amazing! Had biryani which was the best I’ve ever eaten! Haleem was delicious ! But not the masala chai - that’s terrible!

Lovely restaurant, very nice ambience, good location, supurb service and a very good value for money. Definitely go again for lunch or dinner.

Food is amazing, however music wasn't really in keeping with the vibe odlf the restaurant.

On arrival the receptionist failed to inform us that only tables in the basement would be available. After waiting for the table to be ready the receptionist insisted that we would have sit in the basement which we rejected due to the current circumstances. At the end we had to eat outside which was unpleasant.

Overall ambience and food is very good.

Also waiters could have been warmer, when leaving no one spoke to us. Although this is minor, I tend to remember experiences for the service and this I always tend to appreciate .

Great decor and ambience. Fixed early bird menu was good value and there was too much for us to finish. All dishes were great. The pork, bass and lamb chops were as good as other reviews said. And the ‘sholay’ cocktail was the perfect accompaniment. Will try the biriyani next time as heard other diners rave about it

Only reason for the 4 stars is that I was told upon arrival that there would be a charge of £5 per person as we bought our own cake in for a 30th birthday celebration! Never heard anything quite so ridiculous in my life! Not only that she came to the table and made it super obvious that we had brought a cake which was meant to be a surprise. I even asked her why was this not mentioned when I made the booking where I stated that it was for a 30th birthday celebration.
Anyway one of the manager’s overheard and was very good about it and said he will take care of it and did wanted to make sure we enjoyed our evening.
We went for the tasting menus both vegetarian and non veg both were fantastic the service was impeccable we all had a great evening overall. We enjoyed all the dishes except the bhel which the mamra was bit stale/soggy but flavours were good. Would definitely come back again!

Had a lovely experience. Food was excellent! It was initially quiet but the energy picked up through the evening. Can not fault the food, delicious!

Outstanding service and outstanding food!

What a wonderful birthday experience! Jamavar offered a sophisticated but relaxed dining experience with exquisite food. Everything was beautifully prepared - dishes of note were the tandoori lamb chops (which the chef very kindly prepared differently to meet our various preferences) and the Malabar prawns which were deliciously succulent. Already planning my next trip back!

Most succulent lamb chops. Tasty goat curry, must try if you love lamb. Perfect Biryani. Bhel wasn't fresh hence that 4 stars. Service was attentive and excellent. Romantic setting

Everything was alright except for a disappointment about our anniversary that we didn’t receive any treatment for that although we were asked about the occasion.

Stone bass is a must try - one of the best Indian dishes I have had

Good food but not exceptional. Vegetarian choices could be better. I didn't feel like I was in Mayfair eating at a contemporary place. Ambience could be more authentic.

We booked a table for Saturday evening for 4 people. Then received a call from the restaurant to confirm the reservation which we did.

Upon arriving they showed us to a separate "VIP room" which is completely secluded from the main restaurant. When I asked why it is so and that we want to be in the main floor of the restaurant we were told there is no available table for us. Why would they accept the reservation then and do not disclose about it when calling?
The point of going out was to socialise especially after 3 months of lockdown, not sit alone in a separate room and keep waiting for a waiter to come and take orders.

Moreover, the ladies bathroom in absolutely terrible condition and caused quite a concern if all the areas of the restaurant are in the same condition.

Overall, very questionable experience especially considering quite high price tag.

Very efficient, very upmarket Indian restaurant. Recommended.

I always love jamavar but this time we had the tasting menu with the wine pairings. They really rushed the food and wine. As soon as one dish left the table another one appeared and you hadn’t finished the accompanying wine. Really poor in terms of a dining experience - felt like they wanted us to leave in order to fill a table requirement for later. If that’s true it was abundantly clear.

Incredible service - food vary spicy as a standard order

I booked Jamavar for my fiancé’s 30th birthday. This has to be the best service I have ever received. Very attentive, the staff aren’t over worked trying to tend to too many tables at once, they even refold your napkin when you leave the table! The food was excellent, perfect flavour and temperature. The butter chicken is amazing! We shared every dish, definitely filling. The ambiance is just right, not too loud, soft music. I will be back and I will recommend Jamavar to anyone
