Extremely disappointed. Booked this restaurant for my birthday and had been looking forward to it. Received confirmation email of reservation the previous day. On arrival 2 men took our name and told us that we didn’t have a booking. On further discussion it turned out the restaurant was closed. They didn’t apologise. We were unable to find another restaurant to eat because it was mid-December and every where was booked. Let down by the poor organisation and customer service.
No longer James Cochran's restaurant, mostly empty on a Friday and service was still bad.
Fabulous flavours. A real treat for the taste buds. The jerk chicken is a delight!
Great high-end, tapas style, food. The chicken and the gnocchi were the stars of the show. However, and maybe because it was a Monday night, the place was virtually empty and felt a little soulless.
Great evening. Fantastic food! However, the restaurant decor could be improved to reflect the excellent quality of the menu. Flower on the table perhaps? Maybe, dim the lights a touch :)
Excellent food but unfortunately the service and restaurant decor were not of the same standard.
My wife and I loved our experience at James Cochran EC3.
The food is absolutely outstanding. Bold flavours and intricate presentation paired with a great wine list and attentive and quick service. We expected a good meal and got an exceptional one.
We will certainly be back (soon).
Saturday night January- we don't expect aircodition in full- draft was very strong- restaurant was half empty. Waiter was pushy -she wants to start us to eat and finish quickly- - every 5 min she ask us - did you finish????around 11 restaurant was completely empty and they switch on light , stop music- they were in rush to go home.
I don't recommend this restaurant at all.
Food was not testy.
Service was the worse in London.
Maybe they keen to serv quick lunch when people are in rush but deffinetly not for dinner.
This has been my third time at EC3 and like the two times before, I had a great time, great service and exceptional food. They clearly know what they are doing and I will always come back!
My wife and I went for dinner the last weekend and we had an outstanding experience.
The food is absolutely divine - our favourite was the celeriac with truffle and apple, we highly recommend that. The jerk chicken is not for the faint-hearted, juicy and succulent but carrying a lot of heat. It is absolutely delicious.
We also tried the tasting menu with the wine flight and it is the best priced, most delicious tasting menu you can get in London. Simply sublime.
Our service was quick, efficient, very friendly and engaging - the right amount of attentiveness without being intrusive.
The restaurant only recently started dinner service on Saturdays, which explained why the restaurant wasn't full on a Saturday night.
Overall, we had a lovely time and can only recommend this hidden gem! I would go as far as to say, this is currently the best restaurant in London! When word gets out how good the food is, I am sure, this will change and people need to queue to get in.
Not so gone on the venue, but the food is just delicious! Treat it like tapas and assume everything’s for sharing, then if you’re 4 you can pretty much try everything on the menu. Good wine list too, and reasonably priced. We’ll be back!
Our first visit and we loved it. Very careful cooking, skilful wine pairing and exemplary service. We'll return very soon!
We were travelling from Canada and had read reviews about this place. The food is fabulous but the ambiance was not there. The choice of music was not the best. I felt like there was a disconnect because the food was so great but the rest was ordinary. With a few changes this place would be simply amazing. I would probably give this a second chance if we come back to London.
Had a great dinner here on Friday night. The staff were truly outstanding - all so friendly and knowledgable. The food was excellent, especially the famous jerk chicken! 6 course tasting menu was great value. A real hidden gem in the city!
