As wonderful as our experience was, it was eclipsed by the seamless, professional and engaging server, Meghan. She was fabulous. She answered our questions about the menu with pinpoint accuracy as we took her suggestions and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. It’s a gorgeous space and we’ll definitely be back.
The live jazz made our brunch all the more amazing. Food was delicious and we loved the vibe.
Brunch was pretty rough, steak and eggs was trash. Egg was undercooked, steak was overcooked.
Drinks, dinner, service - all excellent. Drinks were creative and well priced. We will be back on our next visit!
Fun cocktails...good food... good service...fun brunch
Went to James for a business meeting/lunch with a client. Great experience overall. Will be coming back for future lunches with that client.
We were here for Sunday brunch and much of the food looked fantastic and got excellent reviews. However, I was dissatisfied with my Philly Benedict. The ribeye was dry and the poached eggs were hard. Just a miss! My friend who ordered the Classic Benedict had properly prepared eggs and was very happy. For this type of restaurant, an egg fail is really disappointing.
Ambiance. Great musical trio.
I love James. It has become a "go-to" spot for me when taking a colleague to lunch. The food is delicious and consistent.
Food was very good.,
Service was very slow.
Bathrooms had NO TOLIET PAPER.
Jazz band was excellent!
Inattentive serving staff, and the room was just a bit too dark to comfortably read the menu, but the food was good.
I had the cheesesteak pierogies and the sweet potato hummus and my wife had the bass. All were excellent. The waiter Nathan was outstanding. We love this place.
Service was ok. Food was ok but the food was really salty which says a lot because I like my food salty.
Great food and service. But the ambiance left something to be desired.
Food and service were amazing. Our waitress Ariana catered to all of our needs. Awesome brunch date!!!
It is always a pleasure going to James. We particularly love going for their Sunday Brunch as they have a live Jazz band. Our almost 2 yr old daughter loves watching them place and she dances along to the music! The staff is always so kind and friendly. The food is also always incredible. We ordered the Lox & Bagel Board, Chicken Noodle Soup (which is a great and different take on the classic soup), The Philly Benny, and the Brunch Burger. All of it was delicious! We have loved coming to James since they hosted our daughter’s baptism and we cannot wait to go back again!
First time dinning at James. Very satisfied with the overall experience. Waitress was on point and polite. Prices were fair. Location is great !
Waiter was nice
Our server was great! We were seated and prompt and the food arrived in excellent time!!!! Seating was a tad bit snug but it allowed my wife and I to get cozy. Thank you.
Great little spot. A little noisy but excellent atmosphere
It was not what we expected. The food was good however the desserts were store bought and plated nicely. There was live music which was great but too loud that you couldn't have a conversation with people at your table without yelling. I would go back but just for happy hour and bar bites.
The restaurant was great. The only bad thing is that my waitress didn’t know much about the wine and cocktail selections offered. She told me to go with the most expensive wine choice because it had to be good because of the price. She should have had more information at all. She didn’t recommend any of the happy hour drinks saying that they were poor quality drinks. Otherwise, the service and food was great. I had the lobster & crab bisque, crab cake, & cheesecake for dessert. All very good but the portions were small. I would go back and recommend to a friend. Also, it was very loud. The music was very loud. Had to talk loud to have a conversation.
I went to James for Restaurant Week lunch. The portions were much smaller than expected. The Lobster and Crab Bisque was salty and there was very little of lobster or crab. I always go to James thinking they’ll be better but they leave me slightly disappointed every time. The drinks are good but I wouldn’t go there just for food.
Group of 7 - handled excellent - had multiple servers assisting our server so great service.
My waitress was very rude she did not check on us at all really she ignored us and forgot about things that we asked for the service could have been better the and the portions are small also what was on the menu is not what was on the plate
My mom and I came for lunch during restaurant week. It wasn’t busy at all, but the service was painfully slow and the food took quite some time. We both ordered soup and it came out lukewarm so we had to send that back. The meal was just fine, nothing great enough to make me want to go back or recommend to others.
Went there for restaurant week. We found out after arriving, they did not have restaurant week on Sunday. They were gracious and honored it for us just the same. It made the day.
Extremely slow service
Felt like we were causing a burden asking for more water, ketchup
The live music was too loud. It was hard to talk
The variety of food offered during Restaurant Week was excellent. The service was prompt and friendly.
Parking did not work as advertised on there site. Mentioned to staff and they did not know since they do not drive and park there- really! The menu for restaurant week on the center city website (which I looked forward to and the reason I was there) and what they offered once I was there was not the same, “ole switcheroo” I was there with family so I stayed wonder if that was there plan all along, you fooled my once so shame on you.
The food was very delicious! We also enjoyed the live music
The menu looks great, but the execution is mediocre. The cheese omelet was dry with cheese baked on top--not cheesy as one would expect; the steak tasted as if were microwaved; the crab cake was good, but there was no tartar sauce available.
A great restaurant in an awesome location. The service was excellent, the food delicious and the live music on Friday wasn't bad at all! Definitely will revisit in the future
The ambiance was nice, the food was okay, the drinks were delicious and the service was terrible. The wait time to get our food was ridiculously long, and our server barely checked in on our table. My friends and I will probably go and eat somewhere else, and go to James just to sit at the bar and have drinks.
This is the second time I went here for lunch and they got my order wrong. The only person that seemed to be concerned with this was the manager when it came out wrong a SECOND time and I had to get him involved. Most people during the lunch hours are on a schedule, and do not have time for their meals to be recooked at all, much less twice. This place is too pricey for the horrendous service it seems to continuously provide.
Great service and delicious food.
Went for brunch.
Service was spotty and soup was cold (should have been hot)
Main dishes were good, especially the quinoa salad
Would not rush back
