We had a beautiful meal at Jasper’s whilst visiting Amble for the weekend. We ordered the scallops with pork belly and black pudding for a starter and it really was amazing! Our main courses were just as good, the monkfish coconut curry was a particular highlight. The staff were really friendly. We will definitely return next time we are in Northumberland.

We had a lovely time. Friendly waitress who explained the specials board to us and apologised for the few things that were unavailable saying they had had a private party in that afternoon and they’d eaten all the scallops, shame on them. We both had squid to start which was outstanding Bouillabaisse to follow for me and sea bass for the lovely one, the dishes were cooked to order and well presented with bags of flavour. We finished with rhubarb and ginger crumble, another triumph. A bottle of Merlot and a few pale ales helped everything along. All in all a very enjoyable and relaxing evening, nice ambiance with some good tunes playing in the background. We’ll be back.

The food was delicious, super freshly cooked and piping hot. We had squid and garlic focaccia for starters then linguine and risotto. We couldnt resist the crumble of the day so shared a rhubarb and ginger one with the most amazing pot of custard. Total comfort food. Service was great and the chef very friendly.

Jasper’s Bistro is a little hidden gem. The relaxed ambience of the restaurant is so intoxicating, along with the choice of timeless musical jazz. We had a very warm welcome as we walked in. Our table was positioned so we could watch the maestro at work, preparing the delicious mouthwatering delights to eat. The Specials board was filled with “ Catch of the Day” creations to make your mouth water with delight in anticipation of tasting it. For those not wanting an ocean fare experience, there are other delicious meat & fowl dishes to choose from. The desserts were all made at the time of request. We had an incredible Rhubarb & ginger crumble with the most deliciously light custard. Thank you for a wonderful experience. We are so looking forward to our next visit of this very special restaurant.

Nice venue and evening started well - starter of scallops/ black pudding delicious. Wine was also very good .
Very long wait considering there were only 6 others in the restaurant- 4 of whom were on coffees when we arrived. My main of “daily catch “ of Monkfish in white wine sauce was bland and looked grey and unappetising. Ironically my request for salt and pepper on the table was met with recommendation that I taste food first !! This was then relayed back to chef in a stage whisper so the restaurant could hear !!
Given the size of venue I did not wish to make a fuss and impact on others enjoyment but was furious 😡
I left my husband to pay but this really ruined my evening.
Ironically no amount of salt or pepper could have rescued this dish .
My husband had seafood risotto which he enjoyed but by definition risotto is a rice based dish and there was very little rice evident in this risotto .
Very disappointing experience which went beyond the actual disappointment in the food .

This is a hidden gem in Amble.
It's definitely somewhere to visit for a romantic meal with good quality food.
The restaurant is small, but spacing of the tables is well set out for social distancing.
If you visit, you wont be disappointed.

My husband and I visited Jasper’s for lunch on my birthday and we loved it. We shared a mozzarella and garlic bread to munch on while we waited for the main and it was amazing. Much better than any garlic bread I have ever had, squishy and decadent.

My husband enjoyed the catch of the day on the specials board. It was a monkfish tail which was cooked to perfection. I had the ribeye steak from the main menu. It was cooked exactly as I wanted, rare and nicely rested and it was so tasty and tender.

We didn’t have dessert. The one I would have selected wasn’t frozen enough and other choices were too heavy after the very satisfying mains.

The bistro is tiny so in these Covid times there are only about 8 covers and the doors remain open to keep air circulating. I’m not sure how this is going to pan out as the weather gets cooler. Happily we were given advance notice of this and were warmly dressed. The restaurant is informal in its style but the food is cooked to order using very fresh ingredients in a very limited space.

We loved it and would definitely go back but look forward to the new enterprise opening in Morpeth later in the year. They will do well.

Excellent food prepared to order with good quality fresh ingredients. A very unexpected find I a tiny fishing town and so glad we found it. Very small bistro and only taking bookings for half normal capacity owing to covid so very lucky we got in. We'll worth a visit but make sure you book well in advance.

Not tried before and heard that it was opening in Morpeth soon, so we thought we should do a recce. Delighted we did. A real find. So small that we would otherwise have missed it. Lovely, friendly atmosphere with some cool music playing in the background, not too loudly. Food was beyond excellent with an array of exotic tastes and quality seafood. Can’t wait for Jasper’s to come to Morpeth.

Need to sort the ventilation as we all took home the smell of the hot fat cooking. Bottled beers should be kept refrigerated.
Good food but probably not memorable food.
All food cooked to order so if you have to be elsewhere not the place for you.
