Charged nearly 500 dollars for another diner’s meal after I came home. Called to clear up the issue and they could not get anyone to speak to me via phone after being on hold for fifteen minutes. Appalling.

I returned my food because it was inedible. Ordered seafood enchiladas which were full of crab, lobster and shrimp shells. This is a major safety hazard and shows a complete lack of quality control in the kitchen. Could’ve easily broke tooth or choked.
To add on, the served asked to see my napkin full of spit up food in front of my party as proof and said “this happens all the time.” It was an unfortunate dining experience overall.

Such a lovely venue that replaced Il Fornaio restaurant. The interior feels upscale and trendy. A nice place for a date or a very special occasion and yet feels welcoming to casual bar or dining. And the food was dee-lish - shrimp enchilada was scrumptious and the lamb chops were tasty.

Good place. Good food. For a high end, high service place, the pricing seems reasonable to me. A bit noisy for this old guy, but that gives it an exciting vibe.

In celebration of our 25yrs anniversary we decided to to go to this location since it was close by. From the moment we step in to the time we walk out there was 0 acknowledgment of happy anniversary from anyone in the establishment. Service was below par , and food quality was not same as other locations. Very disappointed and will not be returning, certainly not for special occasions.

Great meal and welcoming surroundings. Cost is high given other local options. It was our daughter’s birthday, which I indicated on the reservation, and we spoke about at the table, but no recognition. I saw another party get a cupcake with a candle so this was disappointing that we didn’t get the same.

I’m genuinely sad to write this review because Javier’s has always been one of my favorite restaurants. Unfortunately, there is clearly something wrong with the Pasadena location.
Every other Javier’s I have visited—including Century City, Irvine, Newport Beach, Las Vegas, and Downtown Los Angeles—offers a simple enchilada-and-taco combination. In Pasadena, however, I was told that no such combination exists and that every component had to be ordered à la carte: the enchilada, the taco, the rice, and the beans. I even showed our server Javier’s own website and photographs from other locations featuring the enchilada-and-taco combination, yet she continued insisting that Javier’s does not offer combination plates.
This was not an inexpensive dinner. Our check for four people was approximately $280, and paying that amount after such a disappointing experience was frankly infuriating.
What bothered me most was management’s complete lack of response. A manager—possibly the general manager—was clearly present and repeatedly spoke with our server. If she failed to tell him that a guest was plainly unhappy, that reflects poorly on her. If she did tell him and he chose not to come to our table, introduce himself, ask what had happened, or offer even a basic apology, that reflects even more poorly on management.
Our party consisted of four family members, including my 19-year-old college nephew and his parents. We were appropriately dressed, quiet, and respectful. There was absolutely no reason for management to avoid our table or ignore an obvious problem.
The other Javier’s locations have consistently delivered the food, service, and hospitality one expects from the brand. Pasadena was an enormous letdown and did not come remotely close to that standard. I sincerely hope someone from Javier’s corporate management takes a serious look at what is happening at this location, because this experience was not representative of the Javier’s I have known and enjoyed for years
