We were asked to pay cash on the door to be allowed in even though we had booked a table.
So we left
It was absolutely awful. The platter of tapas for £20 was ridiculous, it had no taste and was still frozen! Felt like I’m eating a platter from Tesco. Honestly bad vibe, bad service, terrible interior and food. Coctails were actually good.
It was really easy to book through open table and when we arrived we went straight to the table. I enjoyed the fact that it was quite intimate although didn't realise at the tie when booking it was pretty good. The band that was on was good and we had a great time. Food was good. Nice.
Happy to find this genuine soul bar. Super atmosphere. Super music, so close from the musicians.
Thank you for your review glad you enjoyed your visit. Regards Briege
Fantastic venue and music, but I was on a date which didn't go well, that ruined my experience.
Service could be improved, had to go up to the bar to get a drink after waiting ages to be served by the waitress.
The Jazz is for sure a great experience, the Tuesday band is fantastic, energetic and has a great range of songs. However, the food is probably the worst i have had. They are lovely people and it actually sadden me to give such a mixed reviews but it definitely has to be done. All in all great music experience but go for drinks and have dinner beforehand!
Overall it was an enjoyable evening; the jazz was excellent, the ambience was good; we were just let down a bit by the food which did have a couple of complaints. But well worth the visit.
Staff very well organised and friendly. The food was very well cooked, tasty and well presented. We were made to feel very welcome my friend and I.
The music was great, but the customer service was poor. We booked a table which wasn't there as the online reservations weren't checked. We then got constantly chased to order, in spite of having paid the substantial entrance fee, and we were told off for not having cash ready and trying to pay separately by card.
We wanted to go mainly for the music which starts at 10:30 pm. However at internet the latest time slot we could book was 9:00 pm, meaning we had to have food there. Food was very poor. Limited choice, bad taste, poor service and not giving the impression that hygiene was at satisfactory level. Music was great though!
We love Jazz After Dark, we’ve been visiting for over 10 years! Fab evenings - thank you for the memories.
We didn't eat, hence no score for food but everything else was great, brilliant band, great music and lovely staff... Atmosphere was up there, really friendly and other customers on separate tables were equally impressed.. All happy to chat to each other, dance together and generally feel that a good night was had by all.. Thank you Jadey; as a band you pulled it all together with great tunes, vibe and audience connection!
Fabulous intimate venue in the heart of Soho. Who knew it existed! Great staff, great vibe, friendly atmosphere and great music.
I booked a solo table for my golden birthday. The staff was quick and polite. I consumed several jugs of Back to Black (it was divine). My most memorable experience, aside from the house band, was being able to chat with Sam Shaker. He is very laidback and took time to ensure I was having a pleasant evening on my own.
As a student the Saturday night cover fee was a bit out of my budget but I will most definitely return on a weeknight.
Sencond time we have visited this bar. Great night with fantastic music by Jayde and her big band.
A fantastic evening, great band and singer , was a tribute nite on 14th September which was Amy Winehouse birthday and also where she spent so much time singing .... brilliant.... staff couldn’t do enough for us , a great vibe
The food and service were unreal, absolutely amazing, however the singer in the band was about a semitome out of key for the whole performance but seemed to think he was amazing, even when heckled. Music was quite loud. £22 for a hug of strawberry daquiri is also pretty fair considering London prices
Had a really fun evening in this intimate club. Good music, friendly staff .. service was good .. very casual & unpretentious but would definitely go again
We were made to feel very welcome, food and drinks were very good value for money.
The jazz quartet were exceptional. Fantastic entertainment.
I absolutely recommend this venue in all respects.
I never been to a Jazz club before so I didn't know what to expect. In opinion Jazz After Dark is very original with an electric atmosphere, and the band called Transcendence was incredible, very talented musicians . We were lucky to have a table right at the from and to see the band so close was amazing, so booking in advance is the right choice. Good selection of drinks and sensible prices, we didn't eat so I can't comment about their food. Was One of the best nights I had in London, specifically for a Father's day treat. We will definitely come back .
Great time. Fantastic singer. She was hilarious and uber talented.
The best things come in small packages and this intimate music venue was a real treat. Nothing fancy just great music, ambience and service - late night Soho at it's authentic best.
Music wasn’t Jazz, was all just pop and rock covers. Wasn’t worth £15 a person at all. Drinks were overpriced, tables wonky, table was always wet but wouldn’t give coasters or napkins. Felt the place was cashing in on Amy Winehouse’s affiliation way too much also.
This was my 3rd and last time at Jazz After Dark. First couple of times we had very good time, the band was really great and although the place is shabby and food is not great, we had enjoyed the experience.
This time they had an amateur band with the singer playing off key at times and standard karaoke-like vocals overall. And we were charged £15 /each, just for the live music... I will never return.
Great band and very nice and kind staff. The place is a little bit small and hot.
Best experience ever , great ambiance, fantastic service. Incredible place.
We joined the venue, when first show had finished. Waited on the bar for some minutes. After that we were allowed to get into main hall. After some minutes the next show started. Oh God, we gave fee 10 Pounds each for such a nonsense! Drummer and lady on electric piano (very boring), one bad singer and 2 girls immitating singing without knowledges any text. The worst experience in London clubs ever. And dinner - they know the only one way of cooking art - put something into the fryer and serve. Never ever again.
It’s like marmite, some like it and others don’t.
The drinks were below average
The food is very poor value for money
Overall not a great experience, having spent £210 for four people we left in an hour.
Was a good experience. The food was okay, a bit expensive for what it was tho, and the music was alright. I liked the feeling of being so close to the scenario but the musicians just knew how to play a few notes. I would recommend to book in advance a table to fully enjoy the experience.
The service was quite rude, and wanted to squeeze 3 people into a tiny squared table that could only fit 2 people, just to squeeze in more people into the listening room.
Small but cosy, excellent service and atmosphere was lovely..
They llives under the amy’s death and engage music band who don’t play anything well ! It’s a shame
Worst food I ever eat in London
Great jazz band, we stayed for almost 3 hours as we enjoyed the session. Dont count on local food though and get there early if you want good sits. place is packed
I chose this jazz bar for a late date. I think if you like jazz you will like it. There's good music plus a nice atmosphere which makes it worthwhile. But the drinks are way overpriced and the food is alright.
Such a lovely full of character place. It's an intimate place full of good vibes and great live music. Hosts are amazing. Strongly recommend it!
This was a brilliant experience! For the unique concept and overall service, it was worth every penny. We were encouraged to pour our own wine in the dark to add to the experience. After finishing our meal we were lead upstairs to review the menu. In the same room a member of staff taught us basic sign language which was a great touch right after dining Dans Le Noir! I'd highly recommend this to all; an experience to remember.
The trio were fantastic the ambience was brilliant great night
Lovely venue. Great atmosphere. Could do with better range of beers.
Southern Beauty were absolutely fabulous and would be 5 star - more if possible. Unfortunately the evening was ruined by the support act - off key and unpleasant to listen to, she read lyrics from her phone like karaoke from someone who can’t sing. It was an appalling insult to a paying audience, a quarter of whom literally walked out while she was singing. The venue was clearly lucky to book a class act like Alison Wheeler from The Beautiful South and her amazing band. I would be going to hear them without an atrocious support act, so will not be returning to this venue.
