We cook it slow so you don’t have to
We love flavour; spicy hot jerk with cooling slaw, sticky brioche with melt-in-the-mouth goat. It’s simple food – not easy food. Our food encompasses the best of both worlds – we cook it slow and serve it fast.
We will continue with our passion to deliver you the best jerk and slow cooked food.
We will have fun cooking and serving delicious food, so you will have fun eating it!
Jerkmaica is not just about jerk, it is a way of life.
Took my mum and children for Mother’s Day, was a lovely meal, happy staff and great value for money, big tasty portions. Would recommend
Food was great, rum cocktails were excellent and the service was great
Great service food was nice will return defo well recommended
A hidden gem in crouch end..lovel atmosphere and friendly staff.
Amazing food and great location service was really good to, highly recommend.
Food was average ... do stick to the jerk chicken .. Service good .
The place is very dark .. need to sort out the lighting .. no atmosphere as empty .. on a Friday evening .
No wine selections .
Well priced, funky decor, chatty and happy staff, and great food!
The food was amazing as always. The staff were super friendly and quick. The portions are very filling and not expensive.
Of course the fun cocktails are also a great attraction.
I'm torn writing this review. Upon arrival it was clear that Jerkmaica is not your typical Caribbean restaurant. Other than the empty pigeon peas tins on the tables, there isn't anything in the decor (fairly dark, with back walls) or the ambiance (electronic, slightly too loud) that made us feel like we were in a Caribbean restaurant. I don't think that the restaurant is looking to cater to a Caribbean crowd - more on this later The staff, however, were lovely and very welcoming.
Whilst the food wasn't bad, it wasn't great either. Neither our jerk dish or our goat had the fruity heat of scotch bonnet present, our rice was under seasoned, and the dishes lacked sauce - yes, even the curry goat. In fact, some of the lack of flavour stemmed from using the leaner cut of goat, which dried it out slightly, and not meat on the bone.
Whilst I acknowledge that a number of Caribbean joints overdo it with spice sometimes, this place does feel like it's anglicised Jamaican food. It's no bad think if your catering to a particular market (and in Crouch End, I guess it makes sense). But I guess that Big Narstie was right when he says that the places with the worst service serve the pengest Caribbean food.
If you want soul in a bowl then this is your place. The food very flavoursome and tasty. The portions are hearty but not too big. My wife and I both had Hoppin Johns bowls, I had the the goat and my wife had the jerk chicken, the goat was lovingly cooked, melted in the mouth with a smooth mildly spiced and really tasty sauce, the jerk chicken was beautifully spiced with a warming kick and was also moist and succulent. The music set up was Carnival style with a big speaker in the corner, the sound level was managed really well and the music was funky. Staff and Chef are friendly, welcoming and wear smiles, the Chef (I think he was the owner) really knows his food inside out. This was our first time at Jerkmaica and we are going back very soon! PS. The Montego Mojito should not be over looked. Do yourself a favour and book a table if you love food for and from the soul.
fantastic food, delicious curry goat and superb jerk chicken
we will be back!!!
Difficult to review because on a cold midweek January evening we were the only people in the restaurant. Suffice to say we got lots of attention. The food was very pleasant without being exceptional. I think for a quick bite it is very good value
Delicious food & lovely staff.
The best jerked chicken I’ve ever had.
The staff were warm and friendly and the service was prompt. The Friday evening we went was quite busy. Tables were very close which made seating a bit cramped.
The food was tasty and portions good.
Advise you ask for the jerk sauce to be spicer if getting a jerk chicken meal, the standard is fairly mild. Roti was great and spicier. Overall, we enjoyed pre-cinema.
Food and cocktails are always delicious and excellent value for money!
Good food and good cocktails. A bit pricey but in the London average I guess. I'll be back for a drink!
It was good
Lived up to the review in the papers
Waiters should wait in between courses and make sure all courses are hot
Fantastic food and service. We were pleased to discover that it was still happy hour when we arrived.
There are many disappointing Caribbean dining experiences in London. This is NOT one of them. Every aspect of the experience - venue design, ambience, music, table set-up and, most importantly, the food - was excellent.
Most impressive was the "proper curried goat". The use of the word "proper" in the description is absolutely justified because the curried goat melts in the mouth; it was not tough/chewy at all, as all other curried goat I have eaten has been (including next-door at Banners!)
Great food, even my moody vegan teen loved her vegan choice. Started with cracking cocktails and food was tasty and generously portioned. A firm local favourite for my family!
We arrived at 7 30pm as we had booked a table for 3 but we were show to a table for 2 at the back of the restaurant. We were not happy as we pointed out we had booked. 3 days earlier, after a certain amount of discussion they asked if we were prepared to wait if they found us a better table, they offered a free drink from the happy hour cocktail list which we enjoyed. After half an hour we got a much better table. The staff are nice, the ambiance is good, the food ok but the restaurant a bit cramped but we would try it again.
Just go and taste how good it is. .
