Lovely food, lovely staff! Good variety of food and drink to choose from!
Food and service excellent ruined by families with unruly childten. Too bad because really good fried chicken. Will try again later in the evening but will not stay if full of kids running amok.
Chicken wings were amazing! I loved the coq n balls. Highly recommended, quick service, friendly staff. We went before a gig at the o2 Forum Kentish Town.
always good food at souther jo's, staff are friendly, great cocktails
Food was nice. Service slow at times but friendly staff. Awesome 241 cocktails! :)
Excellent service and food. Great value too!
Easy to get to as right by Kentish Town Station. We went for lunch but would be nice for evening meal. Lovely prosecco!
Great menu with awesome US style wings
Amazing food, big portions. And very good value for money!
Possibly the worst chicken I have had in London in a long time. Difficult to get fried chicken wrong, yet Joe's managed to. Bland sides, small portions. Very poor value for money. I suggest going elsewhere.
Amazing as always. & found out you can use your tastecard for half price!
Best chicken I have had anywhere. Will definitely be coming back.
Had a great dinner, really tasty chicken burger with a side of corn. Staff were excellent, very friendly and efficient. Highly recommend!
Friendly waiters and good food.. The wings and Tabasco honey sauce are everything!
On arrival the waiter was very friendly and polite. Then a different waiter and waitress took our orders. All of my table removed their orders, I was then informed that the Walter had forgotten to tell the chef my order, so I had to wait even longer. One of my group ordered a Bellini which nerve arrived, also hot sauce which didn't arrive. I also asked the sister for a larger plate, he nerve brought it. My bill came too £97, I felt totally let down by the staff at Kentish Town as it was a special occasion with my family.
We all felt that for some reason we weren't important and that when we asked politely for things, the staff simply couldn't be bothered to get it. I tried to just enjoy my meal, but I couldn't as I had to keep reminding the staff to bring things. The whole experience was awful.
I've lived in Kentish Town for over 40years, and like to support new restaurants ect... £97 is a lot of money, I am very annoyed about the whole evening, as were my family.
Food was OK; nothing unpleasant just nothing special. Perhaps I've been spoiled in other places where I've had great blackened catfish rather than just OK.
Felt the food was a little overpriced and that for the cost of the main courses they could have included a basic portion of fries or salad( they could still charge extra for their special sides) .
Service was a bit ditzy. Very polite and sweet but we had 4 different people as part of a short, two drinks plus main course meal for three and got the sense either they were all brand new or all very slow learners.
Overall acceptable but disappointing; did not live up to their website.
Visited on a Tuesday at 6pm - was not impressed that they had 'run out' of mashed potato so early in the evening. Otherwise we enjoyed our food and the staff were pretty friendly.
Average wings, great sides and service. Would recommend for a quick bite, but if you're a fan of buffalo wings don't get these.
Just a simple menue that would suit everyone. Great food, casual atmosphere and awesome cocktails.
The food was delicious, and the staff were all very lovely. This is just down the road from us but we don't go anywhere near enough. A meal with drinks for 2 will easily set you back £55, but you're not getting fast food. It's delicious and worth it every now and again.
Food was good however probably a little overpriced for what it was.
Coming from the America and with roots in the south...a name like Joe's southern table perked me up. Unfortunately the food didn't keep me perked up. The food is not bad food. It's just not great food.
We had fried chicken which is a main meal there. The chicken like mentioned in other posts is too greasy. They maybe should toss it in paper towels or something to reduce the excess grease before serving. Or change the batter consistency to reduce grease rentention...whatever the solution do it. The chicken was good. Didn't have a dry piece it was all moist. The "Collard Green" are not really collard greens but Kale. Now these were actually really good. But not as advertised. The corn was okay...probably over Barbecued.
The "Baked Beans" are more British Style than American style. My wife liked them but...not authentic to a Southern American recipe.
So...okay food... Not great... A couple tweaks and I think it could be great.
Great service, good food. Could do with a better selection of beers to let it compete with places like The Diner. Fried chicken was a bit bland but the sauces helped. Fries and mac & cheese were fine. We managed to book the large table last minute which was great and the staff were attentive and friendly throughout. Would come again once in the area.
It took an hour for our food to arrive and when it did the starters came with the main, sides were missing and drinks didn't come in rounds, everyone got their drinks at different times.
Good food, lovely & spacious, staff were pleasant.
would definitely visit again!!
I expected that "Southern" dining to be more BBQ oriented with pulled pork, ribs, hush puppies, breaded okras, corn bread, etc. But it is more like Southern style deep fried chickens along side some burgers if that, as their selling point. Ok, if the deep friend chickens accompanies with more convincing Southern generosity, but you needed to buy sides separately. In a way, it is a glorified version of ye olde familiar chicken shops. All freshly cooked and well attending staff, but there was nothing particular which wowed us. We would probably try visiting the Mexican place Wahaca on the same road when we dine in the area next time.
Service good, ambience good. Food disappointing. From menu seemed like it would be super tasty but in reality pretty bland.
The dining experience at the Kentish Town location was not as enjoyable as at Covent Garden. The beef short rib was a bit dry compared to that served at Covent Garden location.
This is genuine I guess as everything is full of saturated fat and sugar
This was the third time I had been to Joe's since the wife seems to like it, I thought I would give it one last chance to wow me...The restaurant is nice as are the people but the food is just a big let down...I ordered the Nashville Half chicken (£14) and it was so so so greasy and not spicy. I have a big appetite but I ate maybe half of the plate before retiring. I took the rest home and its still in the fridge. Their chicken should be what they are good at but even nandos is far better.
I wanted some authentic southern tastes but the grease inhibited this.
Probably wouldnt recommend the poor food to anyone.
A group of came to Joe's for a meal as part of a stag weekend. The service was excellent except for the time it took to have our initial order taken.
The food was excellent, the ribs seemed to be particularly good.
The drinks menu, in particular the cocktails, was very good. I particularly enjoyed the "rumdog millionaire" cocktail. Would definitely recommend.
Very very good chicken. Nice restaurant en very nice people.
A friend and I went here before a gig at The Forum, perfect location actually.
Had a couple of lovely cocktails at the 2-4-1 price before 7pm.
The southern fried chicken burger was LOVELY! I had chips on the side with chicken salt YUM! My friend had the grilled chicken burger which she said was 'good', she had food envy :)
Would definitely go back again! :)
We love Joe's for a pre theatre dinner, great wings, chicken. burgers are good as well. slight problem with the drinks order, we were given something other than we ordered, but when it was brought to the waitress's attention she promptly fixed it no issue.
We'll be back for more Joe's! and the good whiskey too. :)
This was our second visit to this restaurant. The food is very good and the the portion sizes generous. The service leaves something to be desired, though. The staff are not particularly attentive, the drinks orders take an age to arrive (our second order was made when our main course arrived and was delivered to our table as we were finishing) and most irritatingly they insist that you only order from the specified waiter for your table and not from any other member of staff whose eye you eventually catch.
That said, the food makes it worth persevering with and we will go back again for sure.
I've been to Joe's at least 4 times and have encouraged lots of friends to go there too! The burgers are really tasty and classic with a very nice twist (Chicken salted fried are to die for!).
I haven't tried the cocktails yet, but a friend said they are absolutely divine and Joe's offer a 2-4-1 deals for Happy Hour.
Got to the restaurant to discover they were screening a film at around a million decibels. We were eating before a gig so didn't have time to find somewhere else. We literally had to shout our order to the waitress! Food was nice but nothing standout. Service was quite slow, I think cos most of the staff were watching the film! Seemed like the place would have quite a cool vibe normally but we went on a bad night. I wouldn't rush back.
Understandably, a Friday night with a gig across the road at The Kentish Town Forum results in a busy evening for this restaurant. I booked a table for 6.30 for three in the hope of an enjoyable experience pre-gig with enough time to enjoy the meal and still be inside long before the main act appeared.
Sadly, this wasn't to be the case. Seated at 6.30 but with a wait of 20 minutes before any order was taken (only water was brought to the table before this, no offer of a drink or appetizer to start things) and it was 7pm before we received our one ordered drink for the table. It was a further 35/40 minutes before any food made the way to our table and we were not the only ones to experience such a delay.
I'm happy to wait and understand staff are very busy, but being kept informed of a long waiting time, offered any other drinks and even bringing our appetizer out first would have improved things greatly.
I asked one of the staff at around 7.20 how our food was getting on - there was no apology before this or update without me taking the initiative to ask. It was said to be 'five minutes away', this was without even checking with the kitchen how it was getting on, so unfortunately was a guess which proved to be incorrect as we waited at least another 15 minutes before receiving anything.
When the food finally arrived, after being seated for around an hour and 10 minutes, it was good but the Nashville Hot Chicken was far from what it should have been in terms of spice. Everything else was pretty tasty - especially the great jalapeno poppers, so it's sad that the incredibly poor service lets this place down as it has great potential.
It further annoyed me to find the service charge of 12.5% was already added to our bill - no note of it being 'discretionary' and we were not asked how our food was or how our evening went. If staff were somehow unaware of the chaos for customers, I can see where things are going wrong at this restaurant.
Went here with my partner for a late afternoon Sunday meal. They had some very tempting sounding roast dinners on the menu but I needed my fix of fried chicken and that's exactly what we got. This place is great value, the wings are outstanding, the pecan pie is about the best dessert in London and the feel of the place is great too. Definitely need to head back in again soon.
Didn't find anything interesting or exceptional about the food. Could get better from KFC
Aa bar might be fine. Saw a couple of groups enjoying the cocktails. Music was pretty good
I don't think I would go back
We went for the Thanksgiving Dinner special menu. The food was good quality, though the service struggled a little bit, though the staff was friendly. The non-special menu seemed limited, so we are unlikely to try again. The atmosphere was good. Overall, it was an average meal, which was somewhat good value for money, but generally unremarkable.
