Welcome to The Jolly Fisherman, Craster. Combining stunning sea views with delicious home cooking and beautifully kept ales, this is a tastefully refurbished pub with tradition and character at its heart. We’ve taken great care to retain the charm of this historic pub with stone flagged floors, low beamed ceilings and comfortable seating. We ate here on two nights just before lockdown on 5 November. Despite COVID restrictions, we enjoyed both evenings. The food and service were excellent.

Seafront location with lovely views - ideal for a lunch or in the summer to appreciate the views.
A bit if a shame the outside is not lit up for the evening in the gardens

I love fish and seafood so really enjoyed the Monkfish, although it needed just a little more sauce which the waitress was happy to bring.
A lovely early evening, eating good food and watching the sun set over the sea

The booking process was easy and we arrived ahead of time and were taken to our table which were well divided from each other and offered a sense of security.

We are not strangers to the menu and probably knew in advance what we were having and it didn’t disappoint, however I tried the Devilled Crab Toast to start and it was outstanding and will now be ‘must have’.

The staff cope well in difficult circumstances and the pub itself have very impressive measures in place which is reassuring. We hope that they emerge through lockdown2 in a position that allows them to continue delivering the quality food and customer service we received.

I really did think the food was outstanding! My crab soup was the best I have ever tasted - full if flavour. Staff were very courteous and the restaurant had clearly made an effort to follow all the current restrictions.
I would definitely make a return visit.

We had lovely view over the sea, staff very amenable & friendly even though busy. We had fish tray, with various kinds, salmon kipper herring crab & the crab pate was gorgeous. I asked if they did takeaway regrettably not!
Well organised for Covid19
Thank you 😊

Lovely table, view out to sea outstanding. Service a bit slow despite it being mid afternoon and quiet.
As ever love the seafood modern menu but my wife's meal was cold. It was replaced without fuss but by the time it came I had finished mine so overall not up to the usual high standard but still very good.

We live everything about this restaurant, from the views, the service and especially the food. I overheard our waitress talking to diners at the next table, she was able to give full explanations about the menu, offered to move some choices around and able to recommend which she thought best fir the children. And not once did she have to go and ask in the kitchen. I was very impressed

We had 3 meals here during a week's holiday in Craster; a lunch, Sunday roast and evening dinner. All were very acceptable at the very least. Friendly, helpful staff who went above and beyond during these difficult, covid stricken times! Recommended.

First time visitors, literally cannot wait to go again. The food was nothing short of outstanding, beautifully presented and served by very attentive staff. All this while overlooking the dramatic coastline, nothing more needed. We’d encourage anyone to go.

This was our second visit having had an excellent meal here on holiday two years ago. The booking was easy (online). They accommodated our wish to have our table an hour earlier than booked. The waitresses were attentive and our food arrived quickly. Our starters were great (oysters, popcorn scallops and mussels). This time unfortunately we were underwhelmed by the mains. My half lobster , supposed to be serve hot with a crab Thermidor sauce came cold with an unmelted butter with cold crab dolloped on the side with no recognisable ‘Thermidor’ about it. My husbands and daughters main of fish were both overcooked and dry. The other two mains of pasta and kids burger were ok, but we weren’t expecting them to be amazing as not restaurants specialty. Having said that the ambience was nice and all COVID precautions seem to be adhered to. Tough times for the hospitality industry.

Nice place, staff friendly, food ok, nothing special, thought the ‘famous crab sandwich’ a bit of a let down; have had tastier in Whitby.

Had been recommended, very attentive staff, fabulous choice of food. We have been in Northumberland for the last week and this was one of the two fantastic meals we had dining out (the others were disappointing!) Curried salmon was amazing. Would highly recommend and will be back here when we are in the area again. Thankyou all at the Jolly Fisherman 😊

This is a great restaurant. Fish all the way! Starters are inventive and tasty. Main courses are wonderful, thoroughly recommend the Fish platter. Fabulous selection of fish and pates including Craster Kipper pate. This restaurant was so good we went back for lunch the next day,. Mussels and crab soup were incredible. Lovely friendly and attentive staff. Impressive Covid adaptions as well. Felt very safe.
