Overpriced with a very unpleasant ambience. Service was just okay. Food was good but it is ruined by the price and the surrounding atmosphere. In a nutshell the head chef must look for somewhere else to work.

It was my second visit and need to say I’m in love with menu ideas and how they pair it with cocktails! My favourite journey so far is Castilla with delicious Sea Bass served with Chorizo.
Cool venue with modern music at the background. Perfect for dates and bday celebrations as they are preparing special desserts with sparkle!
Will come back soon!

Unfortunately I had my table 1 hour after reservation. I consider this a lack of organization even if they were busy. The staff at the bar was friendly during the waiting time. The food was good but expensive. The cocktails of the journey were top level .

Low quality food executed poorly and at times cold with mismatched drinks. Service was not refined and multiple times received the wrong dish. Service improved once we mentioned that we were not impressed

Took a while to seat us but once we sat down was worth it. Food was great and the matching cocktails made it even better. I would suggest putting salt and pepper on the table though as the lamb needs it.

All my food orders were wrong.... the bar man was not vet hygienic when he was making the drinks. He had no gloves and was constantly scratching his hair and mixing drinks with the same hand and adding cut fruit.

We were two for two "Journey" experiences, £60pp on Friday evening, and it was very average for the price point. The service was all over the place, with paired drinks not arriving with the dish. Of the "journeys" we selected the Raj and Eastern Bloc set courses, the cocktails were more like small tasting glasses which meant you had to buy more wine/drinks to go along with the food and some of paired drinks were awful. Was left with a negative impression of the whole concept and ambiance, so would not recommend.

Interesting menus. A good take on global food and the experience takes you on a journey. Great pairing cocktails too and good value for money. 60 quid and you are done. Its a totally new take on eating and drinking especially with the upbeat vibe so get ready for surprises. Visit all the whole venue for pre and post drinks. Def recommend and will be going back.

As a vegetarian the food quality was quite poor. The drinks accompanying each course were not great either, we ended up having to order drinks of our own choice. One of the drink was like drinking fanta - super sweet and no alcohol.
The 'experience' is essentially in a pub with minimal decor. We had a table by the door so we were freezing. The main attraction i.e. the champagne puking unicorn was not working because it hadn't been refilled with champagne. On a Friday night which presumably would be their busiest night they didn't think to refill the unicorn. Poor judgement.
Had a friend in town from the USA so decided to bring her out here - waste of a Friday night. Should have known better than to assume we would get anything decent with £60 (4 course + 4 cocktails).
There was no vibe at all. The espresso bar on the top floor didn't serve any espresso drinks. Very confusing and the decor was overall unflattering.
We left hungry and angry at our (my) own judgement.
Only good thing was the music - DJ deserves to be employed somewhere better!

Hi Maddi, Oh no, I am so sad to hear you didn't have the most amazing birthday celebration with your partner! Journey is a new concept; I am sorry we have not delivered to you yet. I would love to make it up to both of you, perhaps with a visit to one of our sister venues? We have a fantastic Hackney Funhouse, which I think might just hit the spot. Please drop me a line at kezia@wearelollipop.co.uk - I will personally make sure we celebrate in style with you next time. Kindest regards, Kezia

Style over substance. The food was bland and unimaginative, the cocktails were more alcohol than taste. If they put as much effort into the taste and less on the spectacle, it would serve them well. Our table was facing out onto the way to the other floors so was constantly being banged as people went by, and lots of people went by. You couldn’t hear each other talk over the level of music and the waiter couldn’t hear us either, which may have added to the reason our order was incorrect. It wasn’t cheap and very disappointing.

Really liked the concept of this experiential restaurant. Nice design and ambience gives it a good atmosphere, staff are attentive and friendly. £60 per head is great value for four courses and matched cocktails. However, the food really isn't that good. I'm fine with simplicity but some of it was flat and unimpressive, plus the no dairy deserts are a real misfire (there's no dairy across the whole menu). Did enjoy a couple of the seafood dishes, with oysters being the highlight. Wine is good value. It's worth checking out for something different.

Responded on 28 November 2019

Hi Tom, Thank you for your honest feedback. We are trying to give the dairy a miss as we think that's pretty great for our bodies and the environment (we also offer a fully vegan version of each Journey) - I appreciate we might not have hit the spot yet, but we are working on it! We truly hope you will give us another go in the future and see how far we have come. Many thanks, Kezia

Everything was incredible. The food was creative, delicious, and beautifully presented. Each course was paired with a fun cocktail. This is an amazing value for £60. I had the Castilla journey and my friend had the Raj journey. We couldn’t decide which one was better because they were both to die for.

The staff were so friendly and attentive. Our server was so sweet. The manager gave us a tour of all 3 levels of Chelsea Funhouse and introduced us to the unicorn. Everyone at all levels of the location knocked it out of the park. Bravo!

The atmosphere was fun and magical. The entire place is beautifully decorated and just begs to be featured on Instagram. My friend and I both commented on how great the space looked.

I highly encourage anyone interested to make a reservation and experience their own journey!

Hi Nic, I have discussed your feedback with management. On the day in question, our General Manager did turn down the music for you, despite explaining that it is part of our vibe as a Funhouse. We were very happy to carry on accommodating you at the bar, and afterwards too, at our bar upstairs called Chelsea Black. I hope that helps clear things up! Unique and fantastic experience: You pick your culinary journey (I picked “eastern block”, my friends picked “Castilla” and “Silk road”) and then you get an amazing series of dishes (2 starters, one main and one dessert), each of them accompanied by a cocktail perfectly paired to food tastes. Great value for money too!
And if you haven’t had enough, you can head upstairs for a drink after dinner: Chelsea Black is lovely and cosy bar area with top class espresso martinis and much more.
Highly recommended!

The food and cocktails were great, although this is sold as an immersive experience, which is misleading. It is a journey with the dishes being based on places in the world, but it is just that, four courses and a cocktail to pair with each. I would consider an immersive experience to include something outside of just the food and drink. The music in the venue was also so loud we couldn’t hear each other or the waiters tell us what our food and cocktails were.

Overall, food, drinks and service were great, although not exactly as expected and just way too loud for a restaurant vibe.

We found the food very bland , there was a certain amount of theatre to it which was fun but to the detriment of the food. I chose the eastern block vegan journey, my mushroom dumplings were tasteless stodgy lumps with very little mushroom in them . My potato cake tasted of absolutely nothing.
The service however was ok but even though we were on the latest sitting we were rushed off our tables and drinks that we hadn’t finished were taken away. We met some old friends there and I was embarrassed that I had even suggested going. It was such a disappointment

The food was incredibly underwhelming for the price. Nothing bad, but also nothing I would care to eat again. You are meant to get a cocktail with every course, but the drinks were not brought to the table until we were already half way through the food every time, which was a bit annoying. The drinks were pretty good though. Tip is included in the price, which was also frustrating as the service was pretty mediocre, except for the hostess who was very very sweet. My biggest complaint, however, was that the unicorn was broken. This champagne unicorn was the number one selling point and the reason i decided to book this reservation. we were not told until after the meal that it was broken. the little card advertising it was still attached to every menu (which it did not have to be as it was attached with a paperclip). this was incredibly disappointing, but ultimately, it happens... BUT when we went to sit at the bar after dinner, we were speaking to each other about how disappointing it was, and the bartender then thought it was his business to tell us "dont worry, you can still get your instragram photos. who cares anyway?" at first, we were trying to joke with him and be lighthearted about it (ultimately its just a funny gimick anyway), however, the bartender continued to make condescending and rude comments about our disappointment. yea, i get it, its a unicorn that spits champagne, its not the end of the world, but i think its fair to be bummed out when you booked a table a month in advance with this as the highlight only to find out after spending £80 that its not working. perhaps the bartender should go work in a hotel bar if he cant appreciate the main gimick that brings people to his bar... clearly, this guy is judging his clientelle instead of doing his job. i dont need to be told that my instragram followers wont know the difference between it working or not working. im not an instragram influencer, i wanted to drink the champagne, not just post about it.
