Whether you’re stopping by for a glass of red, settling in for a romantic meal or enjoying the music, Jules Bistro delivers a memorable experience with the reassurance "we’ll always have Paris."
Live music 7/7 Brunch & Dinner. Cover charge from 7.30pm to 11pm Sun-Thursday $2, Fri-Sat $5 per guest
I simply adore this place, the perfect combination of delicious food and great music. One of my favourite place in NY!
Fantastic live jazz music fills up this tight nook of a restaurant. Very small, family oriented vibe to the space. The food is quite good and fairly priced. Doesn't appear to have liquor, only wine (glass or bottle) and beer.
Bring a few dollars as gratuity for the jazz band.
Went for an 11am Sunday brunch with a friend. As it was early, we were the only ones in the restaurant until customers started to arrive by 11:30am. Light music played in the background. From their brunch menu, we selected their BLT dish. It came with fries and a small salad. It was delicious! We also had their Detox Juice which was perfectly citrusy and refreshing. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. This was our first dining experience at Jules and we will definitely be returning. I am looking forward to returning during dinner as they have live music in the evenings!
Excellent restaurant with very good food. Excellent ambience. Great smmoth jazz- we especially emnjoyed the singer, Cody Kasselman. The music was not loud and made for an excellent dining experience. We will definiotely return. Highly recommended.
Loved the food and the jazz. Wonderful romantic ambiance with amazing French wine. Will go back!
The food was pricy but delicious. Worth the money. The service was outstanding. Our waiter, Kilian, was very attentive and provided an excellent service. Nice music. We will be coming back to this place again soon.
The food, music and ambiance was wonderful. Plus it's a great value! We'll definitely be back.
One of the things I love about New York is that there are gems on every other block, it seems. Jules Bistro is one of those gems. Fantastic, intimate ambience, charismatic and friendly staff, and surprisingly (for a live music place) superb quality in the food. All around, top drawer!
The brunch menu was nicely varied, and what I ordered was actually quite good. I was there for brunch late on a Saturday (1500), so the place was literally empty, and the kitchen was about to close (1530). Brunch times that are posted are 11-1600. I did get the bottomless mimosas, which were quite good, but I kept having to ask for refills, even as the only table in the place. I don't know, I guess I expected a bit more attentive service. Also, the food, although good, was not prepared as it was described in the menu. It was overall enjoyable, mostly because of the food, but the service was lacking, and the ambience was a bit blah. There is a very cozy and cute outdoor seating area that did add a little to the atmosphere.
We heard some great music and enjoyed a fantastic meal. Our duck breast was magnificent as were the steamed mussels. Mostly French servers and hosts, so if you want to parlez-vous Francais this place is excellent but they speak New Yorker as well!
Delightful bistro focused on ambiance and people. Outside of Paris you won't find a more authentic experience. Leave your pretentions at the door because no one here gives a damn what you share on Yelp. Wines are deliciously selected, service is sincere, proprietor is always on site and the cuisine is 100% authentic!
Great atmosphere and great jazz with a global flavor. It would be even better if the infrastructure was spruced up/improved. I will return next time I am in the city.
Too bas that there wasn't jazz. Good to call beforehand to check what type of show it will be.
Loved loved loved my birthday night at Jules. Had never been so didn’t know what to expect but discovered a new
favorite place to be. This is somewhere you can find that
most elusive but most valuable quality: charm. The people
who run this bistro are exceptionally charming, in that uniquely French not even trying to be kind of way and the entertainment was just lovely. It was the kind of magical evening always hoped for but rarely found. Dinner was delightful. One of our favorite nights out ever. And that’s saying something!
We were very much looking forward to hearing some jazz as we dined. However, the music was so loud it was impossible to talk to my companions. The drums were amplified so much they drowned out the wonderful female singer, whose microphone was so muffled we could hardly hear her. Halfway through our meal we spotted a table outside and quickly asked to be moved. I also don't appreciate being seated so close to other diners (even when they are perfectly enjoyable) that you actually rub elbows with them. We won't be going back which is very unfortunate, because the food was actually quite good!!
Thought this was a bunch spot with live music, but no live music. Food was okay. No hard alcohol.
On aurait souhaité un service moins expéditif, nous avons senti l'urgence de libérer la table pour le prochain service. Dommage car lorsque nous étions venues en 2014, tout était parfait!
What a delight! Great music, charming atmosphere, exquisite food and attentive service.
Noe Soche: great music; always enjoy the music and people at Jules. We try to go often but probably not frequently enough. Food and atmosphere good.
Escargot and skate wing in classic caper butter sauce were delicious. Half chicken was good, marred by a commercial brown gravy. Kale salad and hanger steak were well prepared and tasty. Entertainment (jazz band w female singer) was terrific, although they need a sound man or better speakers to improve the mix. Fun place.
great dinner with family and relatives visiting from out of town
wonderful attention..great service..excellent cuisine. and perfect music!!!
Very good food and service. Made me feel like I was in Paris. Order the steelhead or rack of lamb. Mussels are very good as well. Nice wine list, especially by the glass. Had a Sauterne for dessert that was like the nectar of the gods!!
Loved jazz brunch!
Yo eat the food with no socks on it tastes better
We love coming to Jules for dinner. The relaxed, jazzy and French ambiance makes it special. Good assortment of French whites, roses and reds. Friendly service.
I took my wife to Jules for her birthday. I had passed by it on the street many times over the years and was always interested in the restaurant and its atmosphere. We had pate compagnarde and a plate of chevre chaud for starters. My wife who is wary of trying new and unfamiliar things thought the pate was very good. I enjoyed both. She had poulet roti and I ordered the magret de canard. The waitress recommended medium, and I ordered it that way but probably would have enjoyed it more had I ordered it medium rare. It was delicious, but i prefer it a bit less cooked, that's just me. The pinot noir coupled well with the food. For dessert we had an ile flottante which was outrageous and profiteroles which I love. There was a small charge of $5 each on the bill which is a cover charge. I didn't know that it would be there beforehand and didnt mind paying as the live jazz playing through dinner made the experience well worth it. The service was excellent, friendly and French. I am looking forward to going back. When I do I will have the foies gras for starters and have the moules frite as my main.
Really enjoyed the food and the service was great. The entertainment was so so.
It wasn't my first visit...I love this location and the food too. I'll will come back for sure.
POSITIVE: Fantastic venue for live jazz in a low key environment. Check website for set times.
NEGATIVE: Food was poor. The burger was overly greasy, the bun and cheese tasted cheep.
Jules was so lovely. It felt like we had walked into Paris. The food is amazing. The ambiance is fantastic. They used their front garden space amazingly. I especially loved the jazz singer. She really elevated the experience
The food took a long time to come, over 45min but otherwise fabulous experience being outdoor and still hearing the jazz concert. Food and wine were excellent. We will be back!
Cosy , We were able to talk an listen ti the great Jazz Trio! Everyone loved their dish. Steak Hanger better than the Filet mignon.. friendly waiters
great atmosphere. live jazz.
Always great. Been several times for brunch, but this was our first dinner there. Excellent.
The perfect brunch spot in the East Village. The atmosphere and food were wonderful and my friends and I loved the harp and guitar player. I definitely recommend and will be back!
We went to Jules with our parents to celebrate our wedding. At the start of the dinner, the busboy spilled a full glass of red wine on the table and my father's lap. This was an accident. However, the response from staff was unacceptable and one of the worst experiences I have had. The busboy proceeded to clean the table without assistance from the waiter. Our waiter saw but did not leave the other table he was attending to. When he returned and we were upset and asked for club soda and napkins so my father could clean himself, the waiter was rude and unapologetic. From that point on, he was rude to our table. He never asked during our meal how our food was or if we needed anything.
I was shocked when the meal ended with our bill arriving and no offer to comp anything, even the spilled glass of wine or my father's meal.
I would have expected the manager to come to our table and offer to comp a portion if not all of our bill. A free dessert. To cover my father's dry cleaning costs. Something. And I would have expected the waiter to continue to provide exceptional service, rather than rudely handling the rest of our meal.
Now, my father who is visiting is short an outfit at the cleaner and what was supposed to be a celebration of our wedding was spoiled.
Jules was a favorite of ours. After this experience, we will not be back and would not recommend it to anyone else.
Great little jazz club. Nice Sunday brunch with a great performance
We loved the jazz brunch. The Jules Mary was GREAT and my husband enjoyed his bottomless mimosa! The food was hot, fresh and tasty. We loved the bistro feel of the place and we loved the French-flavored jazz by Margot Sergent and the guitar player (whose name I can't remember - but he was good!). Can't wait to come again.
Excelent music!! Delicious food!
