I booked a table for 715 with friends one Saturday. I informed the waitress we’d arrived & we were told to get a drink, however it was 20 minutes before we were seated. We were given 5-10 mins to view the menu & hadn’t decided what to order. We soon decided & carried on chatting but after around 45 mins no one had returned to take our order. We had to call someone over & it was 25 to 9 before we ordered our food.
The food, when it arrived, was nice and we all enjoyed it. The restaurant was lovely & staff friendly enough, however the place could be greatly improved by better service.
Really tasty food and the cocktails were fantastic. Had a nice atmosphere and the staff were welcoming/friendly but service was a bit slow. Overall I would say very good value for money!!
The food was amazing and the service great, I will definitely be going back
Food and atmosphere was very good the good was very good. The service was very slow.
This restaurant is very nicely decorated and has some lovely features. However, there was a number of things which ruined the experience. It FREEZING, there were people wearing coats and scarves whilst eating their meals! There is also an "All you can eat" option for £19.99, which sounds like a good deal. I would not recommend this option as they bring out 6 random plates from the menu at a time and don't bring the next one until about 40 minutes later ... We received a lot of plates we didn't like and got informed at the end of our meal that there would be a charge for food wastage? Meaning if we didn't eat the whole plate of food .. even if we didn't like it then there's a fee, which is apparently on the small print that nobody reads on the menu! The music is also ridiculously loud it may as well be a club, we couldn't even hear each other speak. We finally got fed up and just asked to order the meals which we wanted, there was one girl running the whole restaurant and she provided us excellent service and although it wasn't her fault, it was very slow.
We were really excited about trying out Juni but we’re left bitterly disappointed. Despite the restaurant being barely half full, we waited over 30 minutes for our drinks to arrive. When the food eventually came, the flatbread that we had asked for as a starter came along with the main dishes, most of which were cold. The cauliflower dish was burnt, the chicken wings were tasteless and bland and the steak was so cold that we sent it back (after the waitress had touched it to see if we were correct). In terms of service from our main waitress and the manager, they were both extremely apologetic and understood our complaints. The manager did give us a discount off the final bill and a free round of drinks so I can’t fault his service and professionalism. However, based on the quality of food and value for money, I can’t see us returning to Juni.
Great tapas. Some of the standard fair but some really unusual items too. The all you can eat tapas was amazing value
Friendly, attentive staff. Quick service, lovely atmosphere and brilliant quality and value for money!! Comfortable seating and everything was explained brilliantly! Will definitely be returning
Went for our Christmas meal for work & the food & service was outstanding. Would highly recommend. A personal experience with very tasty food & drink!
Great food & drink with friendly service
I loved the atmosphere at Juni and will definitely be going back. The beef pinchos was a little chewy but the rest of the dishes were delightful. I'd really like to go back and try the all you can eat tapas with a few other people.
Excellent first visit to Juni - thought the food was first class...we had the ‘all you can eat tapas’ which was all very good and certainly left us full! Good selection of drinks, service was attentive and great value for money. Fully recommended and will be going again
The all you can eat tapas selection was. Great idea and good value.
Have already recommended to a friend!
A really good evening. The cocktails went down very well thank you. The tapas choice was excellent plenty to choose from. Live music from 2 lovely talented singer/ musician that added to the overall experiance of the evening. We will be back.
Live music was a bit too loud to maintain conversation and we were seated right in front of the open door when there were warmer tables available. Apart from this the food and drink and service was amazing, definitely my favourite place right now.
We had a really lovely meal. The “all you can eat”was great value and we had to ask them to stop! The waitress was excellent, she really knew how to get the level of interaction just right. Humerous but respectful.
The music was a little too loud for easy conversation (or maybe we’re a bit deaf!)
Would thoroughly recommend
Great place to meet up with friends. Staff helpful and friendly.
1st visit and food was outstanding...the 2 girls that were serving us were fab too
we had such a good time and social tile with our friends
Lovely bar, lovely atmosphere. Fantastic music which made the night. Nice to catch up with friends with good wine and live music. Food great value for all you can eat tapas but food average.
Alright for drinks, nicely decorated & good music. Better places in town for decent tapas for better value
Staff really helpful and friendly. Food and drink delicious
The place is very well decorated, nice lighting. The god was lovely and the drinks were great. Service was also great.
Initially the ambience was great but when a very loud party arrived it changed sadly. The service was excellent and the staff very friendly. We were recommended the eat all you can menu which was more than we needed and therefore not great value but tasty. Enjoyed the evening overall
This was our first visit and we will definitely be returning. All the small plate dishes were excellent and we found the staff friendly and attentive. The clean, fresh decor added to the ambiance....a great find!
3 of recently dined at Juni and came away thoroughly disappointed.
We ordered the breads and dips as a nibble to share. The breads were nothing special and lacked flavour - I'll guess they had been refrigerated. Three of the dips were fine but one had the tang of a dip that had started to ferment.
We then shared 6 small plates between the 3 of us. Paradoxically their sizes were all over the place. The pulled beef was almost a meal in itself but the bubble and squeak consisted of three cakes about the size of a 50p piece. The salt and pepper squid was bland with more breading than squid. The chicken was bland. They all gave the impression of having been heated in a microwave rather than freshly prepared.
For the sweet course two us ordered the baklava and one ordered the crepes. The baklava was terrible - a cold soggy slab of layers of unknown pastry with nuts and honey or syrup. The crepe didn't give the impression of being fresh either but having come out of the refrigerator. At this point we complained about the baklava and replacements were promised free of charge. We also commented (rather belatedly) that the food had been a disappointment and were offered a 20% reduction on our bill. The replacement baklavas duly arrived but were no better and the chap (perhaps the manager?) commented that they had been made with the wrong pastry. I would politely offer they had been made with the wrong recipe and far too far in advance.
The service was fine and the drinks were good. But don't go to Juni for the food.
After reminding the waitress we received the 20% reduction in our bill. We would have happily paid full price in return for a dining experience more in line with what was promised by the menu and other reviews.
A lovely experience, we were greeted and seated quickly with menus. We were also invited to look at the gin making area. Food excellent. Would definitely go again.
Great Food, Fast and Friendly Service, Reasonable Price and Amazing Gin Cocktails. Would definitely go again.
Lovely relaxed feel, simple tasty dishes accompanied with a great gin cocktail menu. We will return.
Everything about this place was excellent. Very welcoming staff and decor, excellent drinks, food and service. Highly recommend.
We had a really lovely meal here on Saturday. Both the food and the gins were amazing, staff were very friendly and helpful, talked us through the food options and gave good recommendations. Would definitely go again!
If you like sharing menus then Juni. Outdoor be for you. We enjoyed several small plates with a couple of their delicious signature cocktails. The food was very tasty.
I was really excited about trying Juni, however sadly I left feeling disappointed and dissatisfied in all senses of the word.
For a Friday evening the ambiance wasn't amazing, but for a relatively new restaurant I won't hold this against the place.
I was intrigued by the menu as I love different cuisines, so I was very excited about trying Serbian food in Nottingham for the first time. Overall, I was quite disappointed as the quality of the food was average at best, the menu was not cohesive (the dishes just didn't work together) and I felt a little ripped off (and still hungry) after our meal. My boyfriend resorted to ordering the plum dumplings for dessert as we both didn't feel satisfied after our meal. Not only were the dumplings tasteless with sharp yet bland plums, but also the dough was borderline raw and inedible. Our cocktails were okay, but really nothing to rave about and you can certainly find better nearby.
Most prominently the service really let the place down. The waitresses were very kind and lovely, however it was obvious they lacked knowledge of the food and drinks available. For somewhere calling itself 'exclusive' and 'the ultimate home for gin lovers', I feel this is a fundamental flaw that needs to be addressed. Our waitress spilled crumbs over our table, finished glasses were not taken away and it took several attempts to get the waitresses attention to order another drink (despite the place being more than half empty).
Hopefully these are just teething issues and Juni will improve in time, however I don't wish to return any time soon.
The staff were good as was the ambiance, nice cocktails but the one thing that let the meal down was that most of the food was Luke warm. We did tell the staff and they offered to reheat it for us but we had already eaten half of it so didn’t seem worth it. We have recommended you to several friends but also told them about the food. But we would come back & give it a second go.
Thank you for your review, I am sorry to hear that your dining experience did not represent the standards that we aim to uphold. We are investigating your comments to ensure that this does not happen again in future, equally, we want to make sure that the staff check back after serving food to a table earlier to make sure that if there are any issues, these can be rectified sooner. I am really glad that you are willing to return again in future, we look forward to hosting you
A nice little place, specialising in gin cocktails and with happy hour deals. The food is tapas style and very tasty. There is not a huge selection for vegetarians though. They do specials but unfortunately out server did not show us these and we only found out about them after we had ordered and when another server was showing other customers. Will go back go try the gin tasting experience.
Thank you for your review and feedback. As a new business, we are constantly looking for ways to improve, and will ensure that our new food menu (in April), has a larger range of vegetarian options. I can only apologise that you were not made aware of our specials, and we will speak to all of the front of house team to ensure that this is not something that happens again in future. We look forward to welcoming you back again in future
Good selection of Serbian dishes on the menu. The portion sizes are great way to taste different dishes from this part of the world. Will definitely come back and try more!
My Husband and I went here for his birthday and really enjoyed it.
The Gin cocktails were different to ones we have seen before and were very tasty!
The food was also to a very high standard, the only downside was the menu is a little bit like a Tapas menus and we hadn't realised everything we ordered would come at once. We had to send some dishes back to the kitchen due to lack of space on the table and we also didn't intend on rushing through our meal.
I would recommend stating how you would like the food when you order.
However this did not put us off, we will be returning and taking some friends with us too.
Juni is a hidden gem! My partner and I booked a table for a date-night meal, and were not disappointed. We were invited to have a cocktail in the stylish bar lounge before our meal, which was not only delicious and stunning in appearance, but also very reasonable in price! The food, including four different breads, is all made from scratch each day onsite, which you can tell by how fresh and flavoursome it is! The restaurant is stylish yet casual and the staff cannot do enough for you. Will definitely be returning soon with family and friends
Amazing food and cocktails served by friendly staff, highly recommend!
