Kaia at The Ned
Very expensive for small portions of food. People are far too crammed in and it is so noisy you can't hear your companion speak.
It was a great experience!
Went on a Thursday night. The ambience and overall atmosphere is great, but we sat on the long table with the barstools and you are literally sat on top of the person next to you. Crammed in like sardines. Service was good, but because the staff are running around, it’s sometimes difficult to get their attention. Food was delicious however, the black miso cod is a must! I think if you are already at The Ned, it’s a great post work drinks Japanese restaurant, however I wouldn’t go out of my way to go visit Kaia. It was also cold as the large doors remain open as people walk in so the draft cools your food down very quickly. There are other great restaurants in London, where you can have a more overall enjoyable experience.
Whilst the food was delicious, the service was terrible. 2 guests arrived slightly early and were told that they would have 1.5 hours from being seated (not from their booked time) to order and eat. On returning from the bar at the booked time, we were made aware again of the 1.5 hour time constraint. The server mentioned this each time she came to our table, notwithstanding the fact the food had taken some time to arrive. On paying the bill (over £300) we were told we would have to vacate immediately (even though we had not yet finished our drinks and the restaurant was now half empty) as our 1.5 hours was up. While we appreciate that it is necessary to limit seating times, the constant reminders and general rudeness of the waiting staff ruined the experience and we certainly would not recommend this restaurant.
They tried to sit us in the middle of a high table in between other guests. Eventually got our own table but it’s very noisy and feels more like a rail station concourse than a restaurant. The food was fine but not special. We were given warm glasses and no ice. Service was just about ok but no one was friendly. Won’t bother again.
Can thoroughly recommend a good vibe super food and a buzzing atmosphere
We went on a Monday so enjoyed the music as well as excellent dinner. Staff were friendly and efficient.
Took my 14 year old daughter for the 1st time on Sunday and she loved the restaurant and atmosphere. The Miso soup was superb and all great value.
Food was very tasty but the seating was pretty uncomfortable. Nowhere to put coats or bags - hooks under the counter for bags would have made the experience more pleasant.
Lovely food, great service. One of my city favorite for a healthy lunch
Great food - lamb chops are amazing as is the sushi and sashimi. Quite expensive but good fun. Only meh dish is the aubergine.
Food was really below par considering how much they charge. Service was non existent, we constantly had to ask for staff. Food was served at lightening speed-they just want you in & out quickly which is fine if it was a please & tasty dining experience!
Fantastic menu and lovely ambience!
We needed something quick, so tried Kaia. Food was great quality, especially the Sushi and black cod.
Tonic could have been colder ;)
Good night out with a love band performance. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is buzzing
A bit pricy for what it was and not one of my favourites at The NED. Will stick with Malibu or Cecconi’s.
Great service and food!
The service was terrible - we asked for recommendations for drinks and were laughed at for what we explained we liked. We were also left waiting for 15 minutes without cutlery whilst our food got cold and when we tried to ask staff, our first question we were asked was whether we’d asked the waitor. Food was pretty mediocre and over priced compared to other restaurants at the Ned.
The food was good, but the service was appalling. I had invited a guest and I was embarrassed. The servers could not get our order right and would deliver a number of things to us that weren't ours and then were annoyed with us that they had brought the wrong thing. There was no care, or attention. Maybe it was because it was busy, but they should put more staff on in that case. It's sad because the Ned is right by my office so was thinking of using it as somewhere regular, but I won't be doing that now.
Service could improve .
Great food, lovely place and sleek service. Can’t expect much more!
Amazing food but the service was absolutely appalling.
amazing evening, excellent food
Food was really good and the room had great atmosphere but I felt really rushed trough the meal. There was no pacing and it didn’t feel I could relax and enjoy the experience. Considering it’s quite expensive that was a real shame as it ruined the effect a little. The tables are also really small and therefore the space for food is very limited .
Amazing Christmas spirit all around :)
Thought it was a gorgeous setting in the ned very atmospheric with the jazz band playing Christmas music - thouroughly enjoyed the experience.
Food is ok but nothing special. The salmon did not have much tatste. The quality of the ingredients was average. Service was quick but clumsy. The waiter keep asking us if we were done with our food. An extra pound was added to the bill without any explanation about the charity they would like their customers to support.
Overall, it is better to go to the Ned for a drink and save your money and your appetite for a place where you can get great food.
Amazing restaurant had a great night. Food was really good and staff super friendly!
Beautiful place. The Ned is lovely! The restaurant itself is great, We ordered sushi (soft shell crab, spicy tuna and California) and some Gyoza it was absolutely delicious!!!
The Ned is beautiful at Christmas. Kaia is so-so. The food is good for a light meal but the service is awful. The waitress would not let us come in half an hour early for a drink even though there were more than 5 empty tables. Instead we had to stand at the busy bar next door, looking at the empty tables. She also refused to take our coats, and sat us at a table with a lamp between us so we couldn’t see each other to chat and made a fuss about moving us to another seat. We had to ask a different server to move us.
GOOD FOOD AND SERVICE. SERVICE FELT A BIT RUSHED, BUT NOT SUPRISING AT THIS TIME OF YEAR.
Waited 25 mins before I was even served them 20 more minutes for a drink which hey got throng and then another 10 mins to bring another one, so nearly an hour in total! They are clearly under staffed but the staff they do have are slow and inept. Shame cos the food is great!
The food was wonderful. Service was quite slow but friendly. When we entered it wasn’t busy and they sat us on the worse table in front of the kitchen on a wobbley stool.. they did move us on request. The food was fresh and well seasoned and lots of fun cocktails even if you don’t drink
Tasty and affordable Asian-fusion menu entree on Hawaiian poké bowls. The two of us selected 6 dishes off the menu, a mix of vegetarian and non (e.g. ahi tuna bowl, broccoli in sesame dressing, aubergine with miso butter). All very tasty and filling. Wine selection by the glass was narrow but good enough. Came to around 120gbp with service included. The ambiance is rather nice in this huge converted bank - we went on a Friday afternoon and their was live jazz, buzzing crowds and a queue to get in if you hadn’t booked.
I had dinner at Kaia with two girl friends a couple of nights ago. The menu caters for sushi lovers but also for those keen on warm dishes. We were told on arrival we had the table for 1h30 which, I guess, is understandable during the busy festive season. But as we finished our dinner we were asked at least 3 times if we wanted something else though we already said we didn't. My friends had spicy tuna sushi and crab sushi as well as the waggu beef starter which they loved. I had the vegetarian rainbow poke bowl which was delicious and the grilled aubergine with spicy miso glaze. The aubergine came sliced while I was expecting it to be presented as half an aubergine with the glaze on top, but nonetheless it was delicious. My two dishes (which were fully vegetarian) came under 20£ which is very well priced given the location and quality of the food. I would definitely go again.
I think the quality at Kaia has slipped. The food was average at best. Tasteless tuna tataki and oily corn tempura. The sushi was good though, as was the beautiful rose and to be expected, the ambience of The Ned.
Excellent ambience and great food, service could be better and some loyalty card systems would encourage more patronage.
Very busy this time so service was a bit slow but food was still very tasty
