The Ned is a stunning venue and setting to enjoy a lovely meal and people watch. The decor is incredible. Sadly our experience on Sunday was really disappointing, it was very busy, so we crammed in. There are lamps on the dining areas, they look lovely in photos but in practice, they really get in the way of having a conversation. The sushi was lovely, freshly made and high quality fish. Everything was of the same standard as Itsu. I really wish it wasn't the case. That being said, I've eaten at Kaia during the week and it was lovely... maybe unavoidable when you make the proposition it all you can eat.

Good value for money. Odd seating arrangements.

The service was overall good but our first interaction with them was quite rude. It's unclear where the main entrance is (especially as both are used for the buffet brunch); We went to the "wrong" one and the hostess curtly moved a sign in front of us as we tried to enter without any commentary. All four of us in our party were a bit taken aback given the amount being paid and the Ned's reputation.

Never in all the years booking tables through this app have I been more disappointed. Making a simple reservation for a table for two, is translated by The Ned as ‘two seats at the bar’. Shocking and frankly pathetic, as this policy of theirs ruined our special evening. No, this wasn’t the usual ‘please have a drink at the bar, your table will be free shortly’ either...
The head chef at Kaia was lovely when discussing dietary requirements - nothing was too much trouble for her, and the food was worth the wait! We did get re-seated after 20 minutes, but this initial ‘downgrade’ was humiliating and unnecessary. I hope their other restaurants don’t have the same policy or they will lose my family, friends and company from any future opportunity to dine there.

One of the best dining destinations in East London. I’m a big fan of the Ned, but Kaia particularly exceeds all dining expectations, with their exceptional food, 5* service and really great overall atmosphere. Would highly recommend to everyone and specifically Japanese food enthusiasts.

The poke really disappointing, we ordered a double salmon bowl and received 6 tiny scraps of salmon. I expected better from the Ned.

The food was good and the location is obviously gorgeous! To me, the problem was that we felt rushed from the moment we sat down. The waitress was coming by every minute to ask whether we were ready to order. When we initially ordered only drinks and snacks, we were "incentivised" to order mains as well, as it would be faster. We hadn't finished our mains, when were told that the next reservation was in 10 minutes. I wouldn't recommend the place, apart from going there for a quick work lunch.

There was a strong cold draft from the air conditioning right by by seat blowing on my legs and body throughout. This couldn't be turned off but the staff helpfully brought me a blanket which blocked out most of the draft. Not ideal, but dealt with in good way. Food was nice.

Notwithstanding being told the table was only available for 90 minutes that really isn’t long enough for a meal at an enjoyable pace.

I should have known this was going to be “different” when I received the confused call to confirm my reservation. The first thing the lady told me that I have 1.5 hours and then would need to give the table back without stopping she then told me that brunch was served until 4pm. My reservation was at 3:30pm!

When we arrived - despite there being plenty of seats available and only 15 minutes early we were sent to the bar. The bar is not easy to find - being the other side of a different brunch option.

When we did get seated we were on stools on the corridor - as most people at the restaurant are. A strange location indeed. One of us had to walk along the corridor (as hotel guests and other diners were arriving) with our food. The food itself was perfectly adequate, but I would have expected better quality considering the price point and relatively limited selection. The tempora prawns were stuck together in a batter that was thick enough for my cod and chips from the local chippie that Japanese refinement. The lamb chop was lovely and sticky but cold, the salmon was similar. The sashimi was lack-lustre. The real star was the poke bowl. Mine was fresh and well balanced. The small desserts looked nice, but judging by the amount people were leaving did not really hit the mark.

All-in-all a bit disappointing. Sell the Poke bowls for take out and I will happily pay for those. Otherwise I will return to other and much better restaurants.

Apart from the food, which was tasty - especially the black cod (however not worth the £215 we paid) everything else was just ok. The service however was pretty bad - we were reminded even before we sat down that we only had a slot of an hour and 15. But it then took them 10 minutes to even ask us if we wanted a drink! We were rushed the whole time and felt like the staff just wanted to churn out tables. The restaurant is far enough from the band in the central part to make it nice background music and not over bearing. Glad that I at least tried it, but that’s about it and I wouldn’t go again - which is a shame.

Absolutely loved the cocktails, venue, and most of the food was amazing (gyoza, wagyu beef) but the vegetables weren’t very nice - asparagus included very woody brown stems, and aubergine was just steamed and a bit tasteless. But restaurant is beautiful...

Food was immense - especially the Japanese Fried Chicken! Service was also great - we got asked to move to a smaller table as a bigger party came in but in return got a free bottle of prosecco for the inconvenience. Always great service in the Ned and Kaia was no difference. Not a cheap eat but worth the money for the food, service & ambiance.

Coul be great but unfortunately just good. Food is exceptional but too busy and service suffers as a result. They need to create and invest in a waiting area where you can have a drink and relax, especially if they are going to keep you waiting for 30 minutes for a table.

The whole experience is worth it and all the waiting/chefs were very pleasant - but be aware there are two types of seating, low tables and high benches. With back problems I can't sit on a high bench/backless stool so just make sure if you suffer like myself, state so on your booking to ensure you're not waiting 45 minutes for a table like my party had to.

Food was very nice although did get pestered by fruit flies as previous reviewers had mentioned service was good. The place just seemed to lack warmth probably due to the fact of the scale of the Ned, the place seemed to have a great deal of background noise and and felt a little impersonal would go back, but would try a different eating experience perhaps.

Good food in a pleasant atmosphere but we were let down this time by surly, reactive service throughout from one of the waiters, an incorrect order (which was then handled slightly badly when we pointed out the error). Definitely not as positive as my last meal at Kaia - hope the next experience will be better...

I have been to one of the other restaurants at The Ned before and had a good experience. The Ned generally has a lively vibe. I was however disappointed by Kaia. The staff were abrupt. Our waiter kept tying to make us order the most expensive items on the menu. We ordered a bottle of red wine, and a bottle of white arrived. The food itself was underwhelming for the price being paid. We bought a number of dishes to share. I expected better for circa £30 for a platter of 9 pieces of nigiri.

On the positive side, the best starters were tuna tataki, black cod gyoza and corn tempura.

Called in advance to request a low seated table because I had hurt my back. Was told noted on their system arrived to be placed on a high stool facing where they wash the dishes! Absolutely terrible I complained and was told they could not seat me at a low table. I settled for the main area as my client was arriving. I was later offered a low table but declined as it was then too much hassle. Lesson learnt.

Seating wasn’t very comfortable. Tried to seat us on bar stalls when I’m 7 months pregnant. Staff didn’t seem interested, we had to continually ask them to explain the menu. When we did it seemed like a chore.

They told us we have 90 minutes at the table before we even ordered, even though the restaurant was empty. The service was slow so we were over the 90 minutes which wasn’t our fault.

There was no additional seating for after the meal and when we asked the staff, they where not interested once we had paid the bill.
Considering how much the meal was I’d expect an area to seat after the meal to enjoy the ambiance.
