Fabulous impromptu evening. Happened to be there same time as friends. Staff reshuffled schedule and tables so we could eat together. Food was sublime. Now my favourite Manchester eatery. The wind recommendation for the Grindr was genius. See you all soon.
Fantastic venue, food and staff. Can't wait to return
Would definitely return to this restaurant. Staff were really friendly and service was just right. There was a really great atmosphere in the restaurant and all of the team worked really well together with a nice banter between them. Food was delicious and beautifully presented. We sat at the bar which was really comfortable and such a pleasure to meet such a great barman who looked after us so well enjoyed watching the pastry chef happy in his work. Thanks for a lovely evening team Kala
Loved it. Have already recommended to friends. Will be back soon.
Amazing food and service, from start to finish the whole experience was outstanding
Our meal was quite simply outstanding. We had Sunday lunch at the Sticky Walnut in March...superb. Thank you very much. See you again soon.
As per the rest of the restaurants in @GaryusherChef empire food, service and fantastic staff, Kala didn’t let me down.
Our first visit to Kala was a great pleasure. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. The excellent food courses arrived with optimum timing. We were pleasantly surprised by a special gesture recognising that we were celebrating a birthday.
Fantastic, warm and friendly service from when we arrived to when we left. Everything we ordered was inventive and cooked to perfection. This is described as a Brasserie but the food is much more inventive than that would suggest. Add to that the wonderful room and the buzzy atmosphere and it’s a great addition to the Manchester restaurant scene. Highly recommended
One of the best meals we’ve had in a while.
Brilliant staff and service, with really tasty food, made for the perfect evening.
Fantastic experience at Kala, having previously visited 2 of the sister restaurants (Hispi in Didsbury and WreckFish in Liverpool), I was looking forward to this meal. It did not disappoint!! The atmosphere and ambience is perfectly comfortable for every diner with the service being exceptional. The food is delicious, with the chefs going the extra mile with flavours and presentation to give you a delicious plate of food. 100% recommended when in Manchester, I will certainly be visiting again.
First visit. Lovely food. Exceptional service by Jordan. Will return
We had a lovely meal on Friday evening- genuinely lovely staff. Great food, lovely atmosphere. Will definitely be going back next time we are back in Manchester.
Good food, relaxed environment.
Amazing food and service, highly recommend this wonderful restaurant.
Went to Kala for lunch yesterday. Had main courses (Sea bream and Tandoori chicken) and desserts (Stem ginger semifreddo and Comte cheese plate) from the set menu. Very impressed with the quality, presentation and service. Overall very enjoyable and relaxing experience. Fantastic value for money. We will definitely be back and would recommend. Kala deserves to succeed in the competitive Manchester dining market and we sincerely hope it will.
Having been to other Elite Bistro's venues I was excited to come to Kala and take a friend. We were not disappointed. Great wine, super tasty food, and service second to none.
My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday lunch. 2 courses for £20 or 3 for £25 is such good value for money and we left very full and extremely satisfied. The staff at Kala were warm and welcoming and were very attentive. The food was divine (the Parkin especially). My only negative was that I found the restaurant quite hot. But then again I’m usually a hotbod so that’s probably my issue more than theirs! When I visit Manchester again, I will be back for sure!
Superb restaurant, food was beautiful and the staff were very professional.
Lunch for four foodies all totally interested in good quality food , we had no disappointment s. Table service was excellent and we had a most enjoyable experience. We will definitely will be returning in the future .
Top level service in a relaxed and well presented dining room. Great to see the kitchen and Gary on the pass. Food immaculate and well presented; simple and delicious cooking.
Had a brilliant time at Kala.
Sat at the bar for a couple of hours (on a very comfortable bar seat) and James the bartender kept me entertained whilst I ate the fish goujons, chips and sourdough bread. The food was brilliant as usual.
I am fussy when it comes to cocktails and James listened to what I like to drink and made me a cocktail I was very happy with.
The staff are lovely and attentive and friendly, making you feel at home, even though I was dining alone I had a fun time.
Tip - there are hooks under the counter to hang your handbag & shopping.
Delicious food and lovely staff. Delivers real quality in the city centre.
First time visit and it was very good, great friendly service and very accommodating with dish change requests. Really great looking restaurant too!
This was my second visit and I think there have been some small but very significant improvements. A warm attentive greeting from front of house, coats taken, table service was superb as last time and the food was excellent. A taste of wine before committing to a glass - lovely touch. We will be back for sure.
We were a group of five who went for a meal on a Thursday evening. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The food was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was great. Good wine. Our waiter was fantastic. Good value for money. So all told we had great time. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Worth a try. Bit noisy even if not full on Wednesday lunch. Staff very helpful.
Had the set menu 6-7 pm, good value for money. Food outstanding
Fantastic food and service! The set menu is an absolute bargain
Sunday lunch offer was excellent, Sirloin on the bone cooked to perfection
Great addition to the City Centre and to sound really lazy, don't have to go to Didsbury to have the BEST roast in Manchester!
I expected so much from this restaurant...and it really did live up to the hype.
Great addition to Greater Manchester.
I wanted to like it, after all I was taking my wife there for her birthday. The short menu, the laid out ingredients and the prices alluded to a meal experience that we would enjoy and talk about afterwards in a positive light.
We ordered bread for the table and a chicken dish each with chips to share with the hopes we would have just enough room left afterwards for dessert.
The bread was two slices thick with a paltry drizzle of oil, for that price they could leave the bottle, even nandos feels they can afford that.
The chicken breast tasted like a name brand freezer 4 for a £1 deal and the rest of the dish was along the same lines.
The dessert was lovely and saved the meal for myself and the service warranted tipping as we had lovely attendants. However when they said they wanted to reimagine the modern bistro I didn't realise they meant wetherspoons.
Lovely place staff very attentive and atmosphere was lovely, only feedback would be to have more side options as there was only 2 choices which were chips and creamy leeks
Service was outstanding, and really enjoyed the food. As it's only recently opened, I hope the problems with noise will be noticed and dealt with; the restaurant was 3/4 full on a Friday afternoon and I had to shout to be heard by my dining companion only2 feet across the table, which wasn't great. Once that has been dealt with it will be a perfect restaurant!
4 of us ate here on a Thursday evening. We booked for 6:45pm and the restaurant was quiet when we arrived but soon filled up.
The service was excellent from start to finish - the staff were attentive but not fussy, and very helpful.
We ate from the early dinner set menu, priced at £23 per head. The choice of meals was limited, which was to be expected and we had seen the menu in advance, but less choice often equates to better quality, which was the case here.
Across the group, we tried all 3 starters (soup, pâté and salad) and all were excellent. We all had the same main course - chicken - and whilst we enjoyed it, the views were mixed. The chicken was perfectly cooked, but the mustard sauce divided opinion. One of our group requested a gluten-free version of the meal and this was no problem for the server or kitchen.
We all agreed that the desserts were excellent (2 had parkin, 2 had semifreddo).
The meal was relatively expensive at £173 for four of us, but then again we did have two excellent bottles of wine and a couple of beers.
The general view of the group was that we would recommend the restaurant to others and we all enjoyed it, but for that price there are other restaurants that we would like to try before returning as infrequent diners in the Manchester city centre.
I had read the hype around the opening of Kala and wanted to take a look myself. The staff were excellent, friendly and attentive. The lunchtime ambience was a little lacking and the mass settings of tables for two, which I do understand for lunchtime service, meant that other diners were rather close. As there was a rather loud customer, two tables down, trying to impress over a business lunch, this did impact on our experience. The food was good, not exceptional, but good. We tried 6 seperate dishes, two from each course and all were eaten (apart from the chutney but thats my personal taste).
I would recommend a try for those going into the city.
We popped in for a working breakfast - great menu. fantastic food and drink, attentive service and a lovely peaceful atmosphere for that time in the morning! Would definitely recommend people check it out :-)
Brilliant dining experience. Perfect service, and outstanding food. Definitely worth splashing out on for a treat. Relaxed atmosphere but amazing food. Thank you :)
We love another of the group’s restaurant, Wreckfish in Liverpool, so thought we’d give Kala a try and we weren’t disappointed. We had the Sunday lunch menu which was great value and excellent food. The staff are so lovely too. We’ll be back!
