Warm welcome, great menu and good to see calm, organised kitchen at work. Enjoyed our lunch, one from set menu, other from a la carte, both good ingredients, beautifully prepared.
Amazing Sunday roast.
£20 for two of the best courses I’ve had in a while!
Great food and tasty wine - will definitely be back.
Kala is modern and nicely designed. There was a good atmosphere, the place was busy (Sunday lunch) but not too noisy that you couldn't hear. The service was very efficient and timely from arrival to departure. The menu is nicely compact and creative. The food was enjoyable, well cooked and flavoursome.
As fabulous as ever. The staff recognise us now and always make us feel welcome. Brilliant food and excellent value.
Tried Kala after several visits to Hispi. As ever the standards were of the highest for quality in both food and service.
Great food, imaginative and great quality but good portion sizes and not overly expensive. Great service too
Superb service throughout the night, and phenomenal food - we all had three courses and cleaned our plates. Prices are on the slightly higher end but 100% worth it for the quality!
Really great food and the staff were friendly and helpful
Friendly welcome and non-intrusive yet chatty service, great choice on the meny. Beautiful, hot food and delicious wine. Thanks Kala!
Excellent in every regard bar one: the tables are slightly too close together, so that buzzy becomes noisy and intrusive. To reiterate: food is great and excellent value.
Practically perfect in every way. The team were so lovely and even though there was a large group in, it was as though they had all the time in world to be attentive and friendly.
Not to mention the food! This was outstanding, the Featherback steak melted in the mouth and there was no shortage of flavours on a very well stocked plate. I managed to squeeze in the Crème Brulee for desert which was a champion sized dish! in summary, I love food and I love Kala.
Amazing food and service, great atmosphere, one of our favourites!
Good food and pleasant service. Prices are reasonable but noise level including music puts me off.
A great addition to the Manchester food scene
Like the small set menu choice - fresh delicious food.
Friendly service but not gushing!
Not sure about the decor - feels industrial but in an empty way - sorry!
Definitely will go back.
Loved ur quick bite at Kala before the theatre. The restaurant had been on my list for a while and absolutely is worth a visit. I'd definitely return.. it was quiet enough but we had an early sitting at 5.30 on a Monday. Loved the interiors and the staff were absolutely wonderful, so welcoming, accommodating and knowledgeable about the menu. Food and wine list are top notch.. definitely worth it.
Excellent meal once again by one of the elite bistros. First class service, first class food and wine. Top stuff would recommend to anyone and everyone. Thanks guys.
Focaccia was great.
Cauliflower with butter bean mash was very tasty and just what was needed on a cold wet evening. Was not so keen on the ‘chips’ which were like long roast potatoes and not crispy enough.
Dessert was banana bread, rum salted caramel sauce and pistachio ‘ice cream’. Loved it all except the ‘ice cream’ which when I spoke to the waitress about it, she explained it wasn’t specifically ice cream but was semi fredo. I didn’t like the texture and it wasn’t particularly cold.
Service was superb. Very friendly and timely. It would have been nice to be offered something in place if the pistachio ‘ice cream’ given that I did complain at the time of eating.
Sunday lunch and the food was delicious and good presentation. Service was good but we waited a while for the main course, we didn’t say anything and at the end of the meal they knocked the dessert and coffee off the bill. I will definitely be returning.
Love this place. Food is gorgeous, just need a second veggie choice on a Sunday please as I want/need to eat here a lot..
This is, without any doubt in my mind, the BEST place for lunch in Manchester. £23 for 3 courses of the highest quality food in the city. Absolutely sensational.
The most perfectly smooth chicken pate to start, with lightly oiled and toasted focaccia. Beautifully cooked confit duck for main. I recommend the sides of truffle and Parmesan chips and the lettuce. Parkin for dessert was sensational - a perfect balance of sweet and ginger flavours.
Then seeing as we were on such a roll, we shared the cheese plate for good measure. Followed by some tea to aid digestion.
The atmosphere and decor is very tasteful. All the staff were excellent. Special thanks to James who was our main waiter and is a thoroughly nice person, who is excellent at his job.
We will be back without hesitation. I urge everyone in the area to visit. You don’t know what you’re missing.
I returned for the Sunday lunch and it, once again, exquisite. This is, by far and away, my favourite place to eat in Manchester.
I have included pictures of the Sunday lunch. Pigs head and pineapple croquette to start, beef dinner for main, followed by banana bread and pistachio ice cream for desert. Service from Catherine was brilliant, but the whole team here are a true delight.
Great food and service.
FYI I’ve no idea what the noise level scale is about?? (What’s good or bad?)
Too busy, too noisy, tables too close together. Very difficult to have a conversation. Food OK at best - fish was way too salty for my taste. Toilets dreadful - unisex toilets not a good idea in an upmarket eating establishment - a definite no-no until men learn how to use lavatories as lavatories and not as urinals. I went in after a man - wet seat - urgh.
Food was ordinary, expensive. I was seated at the Counter beside the door- cold draught all night. Service was pleasant but a bit slow.
Great service, accommodating a late arrival, food was excellent.
Great service from our waitress from the beginning.
Food exceptional and was the right amount.
Side dishes were excellent although a wee bit pricey.
Great wine with a nice selection
Absolutely brilliant one of the best in Manchester. Up there if not better than Sticky Walnut in Chester and a far cry better than Wreckfish. Great value fantastic attentive staff full of enthusiasm. Hope it’s a great success as Manchester is hard nut to crack. Big thankyou to staff at bar service and pastry chef fantastic food experience we will be back.
Informal atmosphere , efficient service and excellent food at a reasonable price. Nice gap between courses too .
Thoroughly enjoyable lunch at Kala with a very good value set menu and a fabulous wine selection.
Excellent food, good selection of wine. brilliant service
Been meaning to visit for ages and we weren’t disappointed. Super friendly service , amazing food and a really relaxed evening with friends. One of my favourites in the city centre right now.
We went for a birthday meal on Friday night. The service from the moment we walked in was outstanding. The food really nailed it for me. Autumn dishes but not too heavy ensured there was just enough room for pudding! Has their wine of the month, a nice Austrian which we thoroughly enjoyed. Will definitely be back.
Food was amazing, had pig's head croquette and sirloin on the bone, absolutely delicious. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Great atmosphere. We will definitely be back, need to work our way through the menu!
Beautifully cooked and flavoured food, generous portions, served by efficient and friendly staff. The atmosphere was buzzy and relaxed, and there were interesting wine choices. I liked that the quality of the food and cooking were paramount rather than elaborate presentation. I will definitely return.
It was incredible - nicest meal I’ve had in a long time
It’s the third time I’ve been. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The food is consistently good and the lunch deal real value for money. I will go again.
Second visit, consistently high standard. Food; cooking and presentation Service; timely and knowledgeable Ambience comfortable. Disabled access is a challenge if you want to eat in the restaurant rather than at the bar
First time dining here after hearing great things. It didn’t disappoint.
Food quality was outstanding and all of the staff we encountered were excellent, friendly and informative.
Perfect addition to the Elite Bistros family.
We dined on a Sunday lunchtime with a group of friends. The food was delicious and very good value. I would have given a higher score but one of our parties meal wasn't as hot as it could have been. The serving staff were first class; efficient, charming and friendly. Service was prompt and we were made to feel very welcome. Highly recommended.
The Sunday lunch menu was lovely with plenty to choose from. The service was friendly and professional. Will definitely go again
Always nice food and good service. First time for Sunday roast.
