Had Sunday lunch. Food very good. Let down by roast potatoes although I realise it’s difficult to produce them on a continuous basis.
Amazing food; the best Sunday lunch in Manchester. Only thing went wrong was the food arrived before the drinks and we had to ask but other than that it was exceptional.
Fabulous food and our waitress was lovely
We just had to wait a while for our main courses to be cleared.
Our waitress sorted out some lovely profiteroles for me as I didn’t want them cream filled!
The red wine a montepulciano was superb.
A fabulous way to spend a Sunday afternoon
Fabulous. Outstanding food, attentive and efficient service. Nice relaxed surroundings. Music could have been a bit less present but minor detail. Highly recommended!
Overall a lovely experience. Great, wine and quality produce. However, felt service was a bit rushed, although staff were lovely and welcoming, it was clear we only had the table for two hours - we felt a bit rushed. Food was delicious. One final critique is that if two people on the same table have ordered the same make sure the protein servings are similar.
Booked for an early supper before a concert.
Food was very good and service excellent and swift.
We celebrated our 38th wedding anniversary at Kala on Saturday before going to the Theatre. The food was amazing and the staff were extremely friendly but not at all intrusive. I would highly recommend.
Excellent menu choices, food, service and wine on a Sturday lunchtime
Excellent really interesting food and attentive friendly service, but terrible noise bouncing off all that bare concrete!!
We really enjoyed the flavours and execution of our dishes. The set lunch was great. Thank you.
Fantastic unbelievable food all 7 of us had amazing starters mains and pudding. Professional attentive team. Could not find one fault. We had a perfect evening and will be back
Good food and nice location would definitely try again !
Just a wonderful experience
Excellent welcome and caring attention to my wife’s food issues
We were impressed by the quality of every ingredient and the inspiration in the mixing of materials and flavouring of them
The wine list was well chosen and the prices were remarkably reasonable
The ambiance and experience were wonderful
We will return and recommend to our friends
Beautifully cooked and presented food. Service very friendly and helpful . Wine interesting.
As always, they just get it right!
Feels so comfortable and homely, yet the food and standards of service are top top class.
A great experience from start to finish, really good food, service and atmosphere, and superb value for Sunday lunch. It's now on the recommend list.
Fantastic service from all staff members.
Food is amazing, £25 for 3 course Sunday lunch is excellent value for what you get which is an amazing Sunday dinner!
We had a lovely meal. Service was great and the food was delicious. Sirloin for two was the best steak I have outside of a Hawksmoor. Will definitely be back.
Meal extremely tasty. Good size portions. Waitress - Natalie was knowledgable about the ingredients of our meal and the wine choice . The restaurant had an informal atmosphere which is exactly what we wanted ie. not pretentious.
Delicious food, great wine, friendly service. Wholly recommended.
Bar seats are fab if you like to watch chefs in action on the dessert prep!
Elite Bistros have got everything right at Kala. A warm welcome on arrival, an exciting and interesting menu, fantastic food, and enthusiastic knowledgable staff make for a wonderful experience. Can’t recommend this place highly enough. The feather blade of beef is out of this world and the custard tart is the best I have ever tasted.
My second visit to Kala and was pleased to see it is noticeably busier than my first. Service here is terrific, a real stand out, and the food is definitely a cut above the average. A real asset to Manchester.
A trip to Manchester from London gave us the chance to try out Kala. It was a lovely lunch with excellent service and stupendous value with the set lunch deal. Definitely worth a trip. Some lovely wines by the glass too, with helpful advice.
My husband and I ate from the Set Menu. The starter of broccoli soup with a chive scone spread with cream cheese was excellent. I very much enjoyed the dessert of yorkshire parkin. My husband was pleased with all of his dinner. The only reason I have not given a 5 for the whole meal is because my vegetarian meal of roasted cauliflower and butter bean mash could have done with more almonds to give it enough texture.
I’m aiming to eat in all of this little group. The food is well thought out, usually beautifully cooked and presented. The staff have all the answers to the questions you may ask. Kala had a busy vibe about it and I liked the layout.
This is a great destination for lunch. Food was fantastic in a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely be back and would recommend it to others.
Hit & miss. No atmosphere (Monday night), dining space very open, really needs to be at least half full I think. One very nice waiter in a white shirt, smaller guy (who I took to be the manager) in a blue shirt civil but offhand. Food generally good, though venison seemed overpriced for the tiny portion. Excellent Beaujolais & lovely Parkin sweet.
The absolute best value for money Sunday Roast in Manchester! Cool vibe, ace staff, stunning food... we'll always keep coming back because of this! Also, very kid friendly, my 6yo loved his food, the servers were great with him and we didn't feel like he was a burden like some restaurants in town make you feel.
This was a present for my 50th birthday from colleagues. Absolutely outstanding service and food. Loved it. We did think that the artwork needs a revamp, felt wrong for the space. However, don’t let that detect from what was a brilliant Sunday lunch. We will definitely be coming back.
Celebrating a birthday, great food and great service. Have to come back for another visit for our blackberry pavlovas!!!! :) :)
Lovely staff and great food! Definitely will be back
New experiences for me at Kala - my first taste of 'orange' wine and also my first Swiss beer outside of Switzerland itself.
Food very good and portions very generous. The beef fleather blade and parmesan chips were as good as aways and the spiced pork croquette was extremely tasty.
Just one minor complaint - the bar area was very cold and not at all welcoming for a pre-dinner drink. Having said that, the main dining area was warm and very pleasant.
Good value for money lunch menu. Really friendly and knowledgeable service.
After going recently to Hispi we were very much impressed with the new venture. Overall I would say all dishes bar one were exceptional and satisfying. I think it was the featherblade dish that my girlfriend had that tasted far too overdone/very stew like? Either way it just didn't deliver what every other dish that night had. Overall we'd recommend others try the restaurant though. Great buzz about the place on a Friday night.
Absolutely outstanding on all fronts! Would highly recommend!! The restaurant was a little cold but it was a miserable cold wintry night !
Amazing food and service as always! Our go too restaurant for any occasion!
My first time at Kala and I enjoyed delicious, skilfully prepared food. It looked beautiful and tasted beautiful. The staff were friendly and attentive. The venue was buzzy and I had a great time. So much so that I went to sister bistro, Hispi, the next day of my stay. Also excellent and a lovely place to be. Lucky old Manchester.
Excellent food and service, lunch/early evening menu outstanding value, interesting wine list. Will certainly return, only slight drawback was noise level.
I felt the food was overpriced; very small portions and fish slightly overcooked; no real substance to the food, though lots of flavour
