We had the set menu touted as an "experience". The best part was the cocktail and amuse bouche. After that the food was stodgy - very large samosa (Chaat) that was way too filling followed by a tasteless dhal pattie and some OK chicken. Then more chicken in a very rich butter sauce with overcooked mushy vegetables that were the worst I have had in an Indian restaurant. the spices were bland and overall the experience was a complete disappointment. The mango kulfi was OK. Sorry but we won't be back.

Tasting menu was excellent. In general the service was good. Possibly an 8.15 pm table booking is too late for the 7 courses.Might suggest 7.15/7.30 another time - and there will be another time ! They haven’t quite got the matching wines presentation right and if we hadn’t asked for them , maybe we wouldn’t have enjoyed the interesting suggestions. It was also nice to see Chef on site on a MONDAY night !

Arrived at 2.30 as per my reservation and was told I had to order at once as the kitchen was closing . Restaurant was empty but service was sluggish . Food was ok , not exactly something that would excite the taste buds . Quite bland and boring . Chose a table outside but soon changed our mind and moved indoors . Tables were literally on the pavement with pedestrians brushing past you .

Wow, food and atmosphere was perfect for our 10 year anniversary meal. Loved the pie and traditional biriyani! Our opinion it was way better than Benaras! Well done Atul and team!

I went to the family for fathers day dinner. We all simply loved the food and enjoyed the ambience. We ordered Goat curry and lamb biryani it was outstanding, and properly cooked. It was a bit pricey but overall we had a good experience. Highly recommended👍

We had a really lovely family lunch. The food was delicious and the service was great. They bought out a Happy Birthday plate/cake for my daughter-in-law's birthday which was a nice touch. We will definitely be returning.

The service was great and the restaurant was lovely I only marked the food down to 4 because we ordered things we normally wouldn’t had the tikka pie and momos starters and both were sublime had the venison and wife had the butter chicken both very nice I wasn’t big on the moule and wife prefers basmati to the grain with main had the black Dahl lovely overall a great experience I would definitely go back but I’d change my order also they gave us some cake and bubbles because it was my wife’s birthday thanks again to the staff I will be back

The food was spectacular, especially the little complimentary canapé which was sublime!! Every mouthful was a delight, we have been to two other sister restaurant one in Westminster called Mathura and the other is Indian Essence in Petts Wood, Bromley & they are all fabulicious! Kanishka is great for great food and is in the heart of the West End just off Regent Street, give it a whirl you won’t be disappointed!

A business lunch for four people, with some dietary requirements. Very well located just off Regent Street. The decor feels more American Diner than Indian, and the background music quite generic. It took some time for the waiting staff to warm up, and the service could have been more attentive. However, this didn't detract from the overall experience and, especially, the quality of food. I have never eaten such well cooked and flavoursome Indian food, and one of the first times I have asked for a takeaway box for the leftovers. The drinks selection was excellent and the quality and flavour of the cocktails superb. We didn't feel rushed throughout the meal and all our party agreed we would definitely return.

Was booked for a special occasion- food good but service could be improved. Our party felt extremely rushed by the service team during a relatively quiet period in the restaurant. This did make lunch less relaxed and enjoyable.

The food was disappointing, very very oily. I expect this from a local takeaway. In comparison to other fine dining establishments, the service was well below average. There was no attempt to interact; usually they ask how the food was etc. (at the least!) I do not recommend this Kanishka, close by there's some really good restaurants where the overall experience (food, service etc.) is miles ahead.

I organised a business dinner at Kanishka for my colleagues visiting from the US. They really enjoyed the dinner! I have been there multiple times, so I obviously like the food and the place. Dishes are delicious, nicely presented. My two recommendations: (1) to please change the menu - it hasn’t changed since last spring!!! Although it’s a place I like to go, I don’t think I would visit anytime soon unless the menu is different. (2) I would advise to leave the water bottles on the table or pay more attention to the guests. We were only served water when we asked for it, and even then we only got a small glass of water. Which with all the spicy food, wasn’t enough.

I was quite looking forward to going to a restaurant owned by Atul Kotchar. Unfortunately, it was quite a disappointment!!!The food was average and extremely overpriced. The waiters aren’t trained properly. We kept having to ask for our wine that was sitting in a chiller. The waiter needed to be told to close the bottle of sparkling water after refills. There was much commotion and banging of cutlery and trays by the bar area. This seems to be the place where the waiters hang out and make a lot of noise! We couldn’t really enjoy our conversation because of the noise…rather embarrassing! All in all, not a great experience. Definitely wouldn’t go back!!!

Booked an experience for 4 to celebrate a birthday and wedding anniversary. Started off well, good vegetarian starters. But the main courses curries were very disappointing; overcooked vegetables with no taste and paneer dish was too sweet. Only the vegetables in vegan curry were crunchy and tasted better. Desserts were good. Our birthday and anniversary was not acknowledged by the staff at all, despite my having added it to the booking. Our previous visit was so much better and we definitely expected better from a Michelin star chef.

Location is close to Oxford Circus station so good if you're already close by. Tables are very close together in a bistro style - more appropriate for couples or family groups sitting close to the next table rather than for business dinners. Service needs improvement, the waiter took our order for starters and then came back and informed us that one of the dishes was no longer available. He also asked about allergies one of my guest prefers not to eat dairy, the waiter said he would check but never came back with confirmation and then the starters arrived 10-15 mins later.

Great food and service and since we went for the lunch experience set menu it was very reasonable.. and portions were generous unlike many other fine dining restaurants.. will definitely come back!

The restaurant has central location and a beautiful floral decoration at the entrance - a perfect photo spot. The ambience was good, the seating comfortable, service prompt and courteous. The dishes were innovatively made and tasty. Each course was tasty despite progressively full tummy! Portion sizes were generous. Drink cocktails have fresh and unique taste. Overall it was obvious that we had dinner at a prime, Michelin star restaurant with difference!
