Kelseys Original Roadhouse - Guelph South
The wrap I ordered has too much sauce but they were quick to fix it and the server was excellent.
Lunch ~ Fries and fish warm. Friday Lunch restaurant not busy however serve was a little slow.
The noodles in the Thai Curry dish were clumped together so the manager graciously took it off the bill.
The menu is good but needs a few more healthy options. I had the Thai bowl and it was swimming in sauce. Otherwise good!
they messed up our order three different times until the manager had to get out and hand us our food...we had to wait every single time they messed up so there was always one person who didn’t eat with the rest. we tried getting a reservation through the opentable app but they said they closed the app when they really didn’t but thankfully they found us a booth within minutes which was great. washrooms were also clean.
I think the prices are a bit much for what you are getting. It is a roadhouse after all and Guelph has a lot of very good restaurants where the prices are the same with originality. You can not have a conversation without yelling. Family dinners are for chatting so I recommend they keep that in mind. Turn it up later for the bar/sports fans.
our server was excellent and very helpful. My father has a walker and they ensure he would have easy access to our table. They did! Also provided a great dessert for his birthday celebration, YUMMY!
Food was lukewarm
Waitress was never to be seen
Arrived before the main rush of dinner around 5:30pm on Friday. Orders were taken promptly but the food took about 40 minutes to arrive and some of it was cold. Kelsey’s always seems to not have enough ribs as they offered to replace a cold half rack and barely cooked baked potato with a one-third rack as that’s all they had left - this at 6:15pm on a Friday night. We’ve run into this problem before with no ribs or not enough ribs. They did comp the cold meal so kudos for managing that but should never have left the kitchen not right. The place did not appear to be packed either.
I’ve always loved Kelsey’s food and atmosphere. This is the first time I’ve ever formally complained about any dinner, at any restaurant. I worked in the restaurant industry for a decade before, and I tend to forgive a poor experience, rather than dwell on it. I worked at Montana’s and remember guest complaints were often not justified and seemed as if people were looking for a free/ or discounted meal... this is not that!
Yesterday, my daughter reserved a table for two online to celebrate my birthday with my favourite meal - balsamic chicken. When we arrived, the greeter came over and first thing she said was “we’re busy right now so food taking at least 30mins to be served. You want to wait?”. I thought maybe a “Good evening”, “Hi” something else to start the experience would have been more welcoming but oh well. We decided the wait was worth it.
Our waitress came to greet us promptly and was quite pleasant to start. We ordered the ‘Mac and cheese amazeballs’ as our appetizer, my daughter ordered the chicken parmigian and I ordered the balsamic chicken. I asked the waitress if the mashed potatoes were made with real potatoes and she confirmed with confidence they were and I asked for extra sauce on the side... I really love the creamy balsamic sauce!
After waiting 15mins, the waitress came back to inform us they were out of the app... all was forgiven, shocked the feature app would be out of stock but oh well, it was busy.
Our meals came soon after to our surprise... and then the plates were put before us...
The mashed potatoes are powered form, the extra sauce was put in the chicken in the kitchen, and instead of it being creamy like every other times,it was a dark brown beef gravy base, the vegetables were saturated in oil - please see pic of the napkin I used to absorb some of the tasteless oil up.
Had fish and chips. Ordered an extra piece of fish with my meal, it was half the size of the first piece.
Friend ordered the beet and goat cheese salad with chicken; lucky if there was half a chicken breast in salad, and a quarter of a beet. Meals at Kelsey's are not exactly cheap. I am not swimming in money. It would be nice if a prosperous chain such as Kelsey's respected the hard-earned money of its customers and provided respectable portions that reflect the prices they charge. Staff was apologetic about chicken in salad and brought out the half breast. This certainly saved face, however, a night dining out should not include me asking, Tiny Tim style, "Please sir, I want some more."
We were advised that the computer system had been done since Friday and we dined on Monday night. We were not entitled to use a gift card or any coupons that we were entitled to use. Not very good considering it is not the customers fault that they do not have a good computer system. Surprising for Cara foods and this is a corporate store.
We were given a hand written bill..
We went there for a birthday and waited over and hour for are food to come. We made a reservation and it was not even set up. Our waiter only came to us 2. Terrible service for a Kelseys restaurant. I would not recommend this location to anyone and I love Kelseys. The kelseys on Woodlawn is fantastic, would suggest going there.
We were there to celebrate 2 birthdays. Our server (Leslie) was amazing. She went above and beyond and it was truly appreciated. The manager gave us a free appetizer even though we had not received our email after joining their "club". They also honoured the birthday dessert email that we had. I loved the ambiance and the environment was friendly and very social. I would definitely go back. It was actually one of the best Kelsey's restaurants that we have been to.
My wife and I made a reservation with our 2 kids to celebrate our 16th wedding anniversary. When our food came my wife immediately saw fresh garlic all over the steamed veggies, and said that she was allergic to garlic is there another option? My wife was then informed that the breaded chicken fried chicken also was marinated in garlic. There were no other choices for her to eat so she had to sit and watch the 3 of us eat. It was very disappointing. Neither myself or our 2 kids enjoyed their food and thought that the portions were small.
We were there for the bon voyage of a sudent employee and this was one of my favourite choices in the area.
Food was delicious. Options for lunch were great. Service was a little slower than I would have liked. Empty glasses etc.
But overall a great place to eat.
Thx. Con Cast Pipe
Even though that we made a reservation and the place was empty, they were not ready for our group. Service was slow, but food was good.
All the food was great except both of us had Luke warm limp French fries!
Overall it was satisfactory - glass of wine verrrry expensive- music way to loud -making it hard to converse with companions !
I accidentally booked at the wrong Kelsey’s we went to Woodlawn. Food was good but service slow because the bartender was our server at a bar table - double duty for her.
Our second time at this location and could not be happier with the service and food. Braydon was excellent! Will come back!
Our waitress was great! The manager put several tvs on to watch what we wanted to see, with sound, perfect level combined with music from the restaurant. Very professional staff! I enjoyed this time with my son. In fact, I've been watchng IndyCar races with my son approx 50-60 times in at least 6 of your locations, this one being most recent ... Not every race, but if we can do it, it's at Kelsey's!
Honey garlic wings
And what ever I get...
Thank you Kelsey's!
We were seated at our table, the server was great. I was with my two daughters as it was the first time since there fathers death on January 14, 2018. We ordered the Appetiser and it was great, then we ordered our main course and all 3 dinners were awful, my one daughters dinner was cold, my other daughters burger was over done and my wings were over cooked, some had sauce, the other ones were half sauced. I could eat them as they looked and tasted awful so I asked the sever for something else since I only touched one and didn’t eat it and she happily gave me a Caesar salad which I ate as I was hungry but it was so small and overly dressed for the price I paid for. I will not be going back either are my daughters bad food, good atmosphere.
When I made the reservation it was for 630 but on their system it said 530. If the restaurant had been busier it would have been a problem. Service was kind of slow even though there were not many people dining.
Music was way too loud so easy coversation was impossible. Sirloin ordered was dry and tasteless. Service and other food ordered was good.
Food was so so...nothing spectacular.
Atmosphere was quite loud. Very Large table of adults and another one set aside for the kids made talking difficult. Once they left it was better
Great food and exceptional service from Emily Z.
The food was decent but for the fact our server essentially ignored our table. Said he would back with a refill for myself but walked by our table constantly without doing so. Never checked in on our table. I had asked for ketchup when ordering our food, I did not receive it until I finally got my refill after having to remind him. Overall, poor service and lack of communication among the servers to either ask for help or apologize better. Will not be returning to this location, much rather the downtown location where the service is much better.
We made a reservation and were helped right away. The service was good and the food was amazing. There were so many dishes to choose from that suited our tastes. It seemed like there was something that would appeal to everyone. I was so impressed that we are returning for another birthday celebration next week. Very enjoyable experience!
Server was excellent. Very accomodating when asked to make small substitutions and add ons
When we walked in, there was no sign to "seat yourself" or "wait to be seated" so we waited at front door. Could see bartender and 3 waitresses tidying tables/walking around. Two walked right past us, we waited at front door for another 5 minutes before we sat ourselves. The bartender knew what table we took because I checked with him if we could sit there. We then sat at the table for 10 minutes and had the same 3 staff plus one new staff member walk past us numerous times. We were never served or even talked to/looked at. We decided to leave after 15 minutes of no service. Restaurant had maybe 4 tables occupied... not busy at all, and more than enough staff to accommodate . We went to State and Main instead.
Lunch for 7 coworkers, ordered just after 12:00pm, food did not arrive until 1pm. One persons French fries were cold, another did not get garlic bread that was included in menu item. There was a large group but they had ordered ahead and their food was ready very quickly so they were not the reason for our food order being delayed so long. Other than our 2 groups, the restaurant was not busy.
Arrived a few minutes early and our table was already ready. When I asked to be switched to a booth they did it without hesitation. The manager stepped in to get our drinks as the server was busy and she provided some feedback and insights as we placed our order. She was super friendly and appeared to want to be there. Expect a crowd and a modern setting in a casual environment. Food was quickly delivered to the table and exactly as ordered. I do wish the server would have checked in more than the quick "you good?" That comes 2 min after getting your food and it will get loud if a game is on. Very good experience, would recommend.
New location was great. Staff was friendly and the food was top notch. We did the pulled chicken tacos, chicken butter chicken and fish burger. All of it tasted fantastic. Will definitely be back!
Have been there a number of times with no complaints. I would recommend.
We made reservations, which I wold recommend and got seated close to the door. Hostess needs to steer keeping the entrance door closed - it was cold and needed to keep coat on.
Then meal took 1/2 hour to deliver and waitress gave the impression it was a bother.
Not sure who was managing the place tonight but not sure the we’re there...
Food was very good....service a little slow but waiter was nice.
Biggest criticism is that the music was way too loud.
My husband I booked a table to try the new Kelsey's in town. It was not overly busy when we got into the restaurant so we were seated at our booked table promptly, but after 10 minutes and a number of servers passing by and ignoring us we left and had dinner elsewhere as it was clear no one was concerned with us. Will not be returning anytime soon.
Loved the look of the new restaurant - our waitress was outstanding, friendly and attentive. I ordered the Thai Bowl and thought it was tasteless - it needs to be spiced up with more flavour - I will try the restaurant again.
Very poor service, had to wait 45 minutes for meal after it was ordered. Not a good experience, I will not be going back as they had a chance to earn my loyalty but failed miserably!!
