Went for pre theatre dinner. Good service with a reasonable set of menu choices. Staff generally young and enthusiastic.

The fact that you may use the table for the whole evening is good, coffee, Ices, drinks at a table in the interval is civilised.

We are likely to repeat the exercise.

First visit to Kemp’s and it was a little disappointing. The service was poor aside from one lovely waitress - people were served before us despite arriving before them. Also the food was presented well but was quite bland. It was handy for the theatre but would likely not dine there again.

I was disappointed with my recent visit to Kemps at Theatre Royal Norwich. The menu wasn't inspiring - I struggled to find something I liked. I also really miss the hand cut chips which used to be on the menu - frozen just aren't the same. However, the staff were very good.

Excellent meal very attentive service, my wife had a main course from one of the starter options, this was accommodated with the minimum of fuss with a double portion, very nice coffee as well.

We were a table of 6 having dinner before the evening show. The menu was varied and all 6 of us had various starters and main courses and we enjoyed all the dishes. Staff were friendly and accommodating as 1 of our party was a little late due to a late train arrival. Would certainly recommend as a pre theatre meal, and good to go back to your table in the interval.

The restaurant could do with modernisation, and the layout changed to provide a better atmosphere since the current design is regimented and reminiscent of a staff canteen. We will happily eat here again, and the staff were very jovial! The comment about noise level is because we we sitting in front of the bar area.

We normally go to the Assembly House for pre-theatre dinning but thought we would give Kemps a try. It was OK but nothing special, it's quiet small & the tables a little close together but it is reasonably good value; the atmosphere is more café style than restaurant & the seating/tables are rather old fashioned. The staff were pleasant & service prompt & attentive, the was food was mostly good but nothing special. I had the crispy prawn starter & pork belly main; the starter was excellent as was the pork belly & accompanying vegetables but the noodles were over cooked & very disappointing & the BBQ sauce very sweet & sickly, I left over half uneaten on my plate.

The restaurant was fully booked on our visit so it must be popular with theatre goers, it could become a very nice venue with a little investment & more attention to detail on the food.

Booked for pre theatre meal. Nice to have a table with drinks pre-booked for the interval. Service was very good, the waiter was friendly and very helpful. The food was good but the choice on mains was a bit disappointing, out of 5 options 2 were burgers!! . This would probably deter me from booking again. However would still consider using Kemps for coffee or afternoon tea.

Our seating next to the bar was rather busy so not as relaxed as hoped for. Our young waiter Luke was excellent, polite and attentive. My husband could not get draught Admams beer in the restaurant but was told he could go upstairs to the bar and buy it which we felt was poor. Overall the food was very good although what was described as a chicken burger was a seasoned piece of chicken filet.

This was a pre-theatre lunch with my husband to see Miss Saigon. I thought the menu was limited and my vegetable Thai curry little more than a jar of sauce with veg added. Very disappointing. My husbands fish and chips was basic fare of frozen chips.
Sorry for the bad review but did expect better for the money.

We really enjoyed our pre theatre meal and then dessert and coffee during the interval. Only minor issue was that it was a bit of a rush as our main course took a while to arrive and we wanted to be seated in good time before the show began. Next time I will book earlier.

A nice restaurant within the Norwich Theatre Royal and very handy for a pre-theatre meal which was served in plenty of time for the performance. Staff were excellent but the tables were a little close together and conversations could easily be heard. The food was good and themed to the theatre performance. Added benefit is that the table is reserved for interval drinks and saves the rush for bar service.

First time we had booked a meal at the theater and found the experience very good. The service was first class, the food excellent and having the table at the interval was very good as we did not have to queue to get a drink which, by the way, was waiting on the table. Will definately look into this again when we have another visit.
