Lovely space with tranquil modern clean open-plan design. Service was excellent, food was very good, wine suggestions were spot-on.

Wonderful food..real craft behind the flavours and presentation and a delighttoreturnto the venue! The staff team could not have done more to make us comfortable and provided attentive, intuitive service throughout the evening.

It was great to be able to watch the chefs at work but I would recommend a table nearer to the back as it was quite smoky sitting directly opposite the grill!

Of particular mention is the amazing Holly who created an exquisite artichoke and truffle soup for us to try because other starters were off limits due to dietary restrictions. This level of proactive care and attention on a busy night really stood out. Thank you!

Having the kitchen in the middle of the restaurant did not work for us, as throughout our meal we were continuously smoked out with the cooking to the point where the air was blue and subjected to not very pleasant kitchen smells.

The food wasn't entirely to our tastes, although elements were good such as the artichoke soup and espresso martini cocktails. Overall we felt the food and drink was too expensive for what it was and there was little in the way of ambience and comfort, particularly at the back of the restaurant where we were seated.

Simply the best food I’ve had in Brighton. Such love and care goes into each dish. I really can’t recommend this place enough. Just gutted I didn’t discover it a year ago !

Really interesting flavours, perfectly cooked. One of my top ten meals for sure. Great wine list. Lovely waiting staff too with the added surprise birthday dish at the end too polished things off nicely.

We visited Kindling for my husbands birthday and had the most delicious meal.

My husband has celiac disease and was very pleasantly surprised at how much choice he had.

The mince pie was the best he’s ever had, the gluten free pastry was amazing.

Fabulous - our second visit and it will not be our last.

Exceptional. A word that’s sometimes overused, but this place really is. The steak tartare special of the day was a great way to start, followed by the crispy belly pork. My wife decide to go pescatarian, with the trout pate starter and the brill. All cooked with great care to bring out the flavours of each course. Special mention to the chef for coming up with the deep fried brussel sprouts- best sprouts recipe I’ve had in 50 years of eating them. If you hurry, they may also have some of their 100 day venison cutlets left - at £5 each they are a steal

Great to see them back open for Christmas- this is one establishment that needs to survive these strange times we live in

It was really nice and a really unique (nothing crazy but 'beyond what you'd cook at home') menu - always nice to try something different.

The food was good but overpriced in my opinion. The service was excellent. We were served by an Italian guy called David who was exceptional. Sadly the food just didn’t quite warrant the price tag.

Exceptional standard of food in a relaxed atmosphere. The quality of ingredients is matched by the cooking- a fantastic wine list which complimented the food beautifully. Having eaten in several Michelin star restaurants I would honestly compare this level of cooking to any of those I’ve dined in. Except....the service was more relaxed but equally attentive which made it even more enjoyable for us!!

Will definitely be going again!!!

An imbalanced meal. Massive and very tasty starter. A tiny, confused and underwhelming main course. Interesting dessert. Nice staff but somehow lacking in atmosphere. This restaurant could be really great and highly original, but either I chose badly or the menu is confused and the cooking inconsistent

The whole experience is superb! The food is the best I have eaten for a very long time. Lovely friendly and relaxed atmosphere. As soon as we had finished we wished the whole experience was starting again. Can’t wait to go back!

Really easy booking system, lovely environment and friendly staff. The food was a welcome change from the run-of-mill, it was tasty and well presented.

Such a friendly team and amazing food. We sat at the bar and Holly and the staff were so attentive, helpful and good humoured. The gnocchi and halibut dishes, in particular, were outstanding. We have been a few times before and will certainly be coming back.
