    I would highly recommend sitting at the bar if you dine here! We sat at the bar and spent a lovely evening watching all the food being prepared and having a chat with the chefs between courses. The food was sublime and the prices were just right, it wasn't a cheap meal but it wasn't crazy expensive either which is what you might normally expect for food of this standard. The presentation was fantastic and as a fussy eater myself, there wasn't a single plate that I wasn't tempted by!

    The service was informative and helpful. The food was amazing with portions just about perfect and some complex flavours with a lot of depth. Textures were interesting and the puddings were awesome! Tarragon icecream was just delicious. We will definitely be returning.

    Original and delicious food, beautifully presented. Served with great charm. Highlights for me were a razor clam stew special started and Sussex cheese that was somewhere between cheese and dessert. High class cooking in simple unfussy surroundings. Highly recommended and reasonable value for food at this level.

    One of the best priced restaurants I’ve been to for the quality of the food and service. Starters priced around £10, mains around £20. The staff were so friendly and the food was delicious!

    We had a lovely meal at Kindling. Sat at the bar watching the chefs create our dishes. They have a great selection of fresh produce and the steak was particularly good. Very friendly staff and lovely atmosphere- we’ll definitely come back to try the other dishes.

    Really fantastic. Lovely ambience, super friendly and attentive service and absolutely fantastic food. The amouse-bouche courses were an unexpected (and delicious) surprise! Can’t wait to go back.

    Had a really lovely lunch at Kindling in Brighton with my daughter, and we enjoyed the small plates menu, choosing two/three dishes each. Kindling is tucked right into the lanes but a stones throw from the beach, it's the perfect people watching spot. And a very elegant spot it is too. Attentive but not pushy service, thoughtful, flavoursome locally sourced dishes coupled with a bright wine list means that you will feel very well fed and looked after upon leaving, ready to join the Brighton bustle.

    We feel the website should have made it clearer it was a small plate’s restaurant. I’m not a huge fan of small plates as I don’t think it’s great value for money compared to traditional 3 courses. We are foodies and happy to spend £100-200 on a meal if it’s really good and something a bit special that maybe we wouldn’t cook at home. We had 2 small plates each and a side salad plus a dessert each spending £113.00 for 2 with a 3 alcoholic drinks and a bottle of water. We left a little hungry. This was meant to be our main meal of the day. I feel that’s poor value for money. The skin on my trout was burnt and I get a bitter taste can work as a balancing element, but after eating the fish I had an overriding bitter taste left in my mouth rather than the other flavours on the plate. We also felt some of the cauliflower on the cauliflower dish had been taken a little too far resulting in burnt edges, but the majority was good and the taste was not so overwhelming. The other dishes we tried were lovely and the service was very good and friendly, but on balance considering small portions, value for money and errors we probably would not return again sadly as I was very interested in trying Kindling

    Our first visit and we really enjoyed the evening. Excellent service , without feeling over attentive a great choice of wines and wonderful food, locally sourced and presented by chefs who are clearly passionate about their craft. Would highly recommend.

    You can tell there is some research behind the proposed dishes on the menu: found them interesting and tasty. The service is impeccable, courteous and attentive. The atmosphere is relaxed and very pleasant with low noise levels so you can have a conversation.

    Kindling is ‘nice’ but not overly special. There was little explanation re the food & provenance either on the menu or from the staff which was odd given the website and the prices charged. The outstanding food item was the soda bread. I wouldn’t go back purely because ‘nice’ as it was, it wasn’t worth the money.
