Fantastic menu and none of the food disappointed. Servers seemed very inexperienced and lacked knowledge but made up for it with enthusiasm and politeness. Examples being: -water top ups were very slow and had to ask multiple times with tiny glasses provided; - waiter hadn’t heard of the wine we ordered (Chablis) and asked us to point it out on the menu; - took 3 attempt to get the bill right. This didn’t spoil our meal or experience overall which was great! Hopefully providing specific feedback to the restaurant may be helpful for them to improve service. The food was wonderful and service was enthusiastic and very polite but just very inexperienced I would guess. We will definitely go again!

Excellent pre theatre meal for me and my wife - before going to opera. Not cheap but nicely done and quick service for a full restuarant.

Delicious food; for one of us the highlight of our opera evening. Great pre-theatre menu. Limited choice but that’s fine. All three courses looked and tasted amazing. Prompt service. We could have lingered.

The lamb my partner chose was superb. My risotto was a bit dry and lacked any real definition. Nothing really showed through as a basic flavour. The pud of cake plus brandy snap was original and most enjoyable. That pulled the rating back up from three to four. Service excellent, pleasant but discreet attention always impresses. I would go again but avoid the veggie meal.

Very good in nearly all respects. Offering bread on the house with the starters would add a touch of class and generosity….as is the case in many other fine restaurants.

We were sat in the newly opened basement which had 6 tables and one waitress the soup came and I asked for bread only to be told that the bread had run out which is difficult to believe in a city restaurant surely someone could have got some. There was only one salt and one pepper for the six tables, Our main course arrived and both were not the lamb that we ordered so had to go back to the kitchen which duly came after a delay and we had ordered extra gravy so we had to wait for that. Both the soup and the lamb were tepid. We won’t be going there again - very disappointing and not cheap

Service good, but I found the strange cabbage in my main course very tough and unchewable. The pudding was gorgeous , however.

Initially disappointed that only the pre-theatre menu is available until 7pm, however the food was faultless and served by real people who while helpful were thankfully not ingratiating or obsequious in any way. The ambience was perfect, well lit with soft background music. Such a pleasure to be able to both see and hear one’s dining companions.

We had the Leeds Restaurant Week deal, some of the food was delicious (venison pie!) but some was a little strange, with main ingredients (crab, chocolate) being overpowered by the sauces they were served with. The service wasn’t great, it seemed they had lots of new staff who hadn’t been trained that well. We were brought other peoples food twice and plates for mains started being cleared when some of our group were still eating. It was quite a pricey meal with desserts and drinks and I wouldn’t return for the full price menu, but would give it another chance with an offer like this. The ambience was lovely though!

Attended for the first time to sample the Eat Leeds restaurant week deal and wasn't impressed. The building and decor is lovely. We had plenty of time to admire it though as our starters took 45 minutes to come out. My pate, the restaurant's signature dish, was surrounded by raw pastry (which was surprising from a restaurant that offers a 'pastry club'). The mains were well cooked and I enjoyed the duck dish, but it wasn't something I would tell my friends about or prompt a return to this restaurant.

Our table was booked for 17.30 so we could be in our seats atGrand Theatre for 19.00 hrs. We were on time. Initially everything worked. Our order from the simple menu was taken promptly. My first course came reasonably quickly but then our lamb main course took ages. Two ladies who came after us had both their courses and had left before we got our lamb. We had to gulp it down. It was good. My husband couldn’t enjoy his delicious tart because of the time restraint. The waiting staff are very young and need supervision and the tables should be served in order. It spoilt our evening

Great pre-theatre set menu and good portion sizes. Warm and friendly welcome on arrival and we appreciated that our server was on the ball and made sure that we could dine and pay in good time and before we needed to leave for the show next door. Toilet facilities were clean. A little put off by the waiter/barman who had a lot of undone buttons on his shirt. The tables were a little close together and noise levels slightly too high for our liking. We enjoyed the meal overall and will definitely be back.

The starter came very quickly, but the rest of the meal was quite slow. The main course , lamb, was very pink which was fine for us, but usually staff would check with the customer that that was ok. Didn’t like the chocolate tart - the flavours didn’t blend too well. My husband had an upset tummy afterwards - don’t know if it was connected.

This is the second time we have eaten at Kino for a pre-theatre meal. The set meal had increased by about £5.00 per person from last October. My friend and I both had the celeriac veloute, which was delicious but in small bowls. I ordered the Yorkshire lamb and my friend vegetarian risotto. My lamb was very nice but my friend’s risotto looked as though it was a child’s portion, although he did enjoy it. Altogether, with wine and coffee plus a service charge, the meal cost around £75.00 and, given the small portions, this is not value for money. We will not be returning.

First time visiting Kino and we’ll be back soon! Food was excellent as we’ve come to expect from Josh - he knows his pastry. Menu was great, everything on it was exceptional - great combinations and well sized portions. Only score drops were for the service (for the room, not necessarily our table) being a bit bumpy and the fact that a few things we ordered weren’t available, but it wasn’t terrible. Overall very pleased to have finally tried Kino and to have enjoyed it as much as we did.

Well geared up for pre-theatre speed but not skimping on quality. Menu therefore only 2 choices for each course: main course choices were duck and vegetarian. A la carte menu started later at 6.30pm, which we couldn’t access pre-theatre.

Were kept waiting for ages, along with several others, to be shown a table. We’d. All booked. Only one, rather slow, person copied with this At the table, service was quick but we were amused/irritated to be “offered” bread or olives in such a manner as to suggest it was part of the meal. We had bread and were not surprised, but pretty unimpressed, to see a £5 charge on the bill. This is cheeky. In fact he whole experience was a rip off. The starter was quick nice - pork in a kind of rissoles with pickles and mustard seeds. But the main course - which was leg of duck - was dressed with exactly the same mustard seeds. The duck was served on a bed of very salt, very overcooking puy lentils. They must have had a huge pot of simmering lentils in the kitchen to dollop out. Everyone else we could see had the same meal - v limited menu - so all pre-prepared and dolloped out. I couldn’t eat mine. Bill was a whopping £90 for a meal we couldn’t eat.

We came for a pre Theatre 2 course meal with a voucher bought for us as a Christmas present worth £62 (for two of us). The staff were good and attentive but we were disappointed in the (limited) choice available on the menu - only two starters and two main courses. We chose the ham croquette starter and the duck as a main course. The starter was nice but the duck was accompanied only by a bed of lentils. And both starter and main course were themselves dressed in the same, quite strong mustard based, dressing. So we were left with the taste of having eaten the same thing twice.

Only the fixed price pre Theatre menu available. If opted for starter and vegetarian main course was £6 more than the same 2 courses would have been from a la carte. One of us opted for 2 starters and dessert, as didn't like either of the 2 main courses, was charged for 3 courses (£34) when cost of the same 3 on a la carte was £26. Cost for 3 people (incl £18 for wine and £1.75 for coffee) was £130- plus service. Cherry dessert tart was stodgy, tasteless. Polenta ditto. Duck leg showed little sign of being "confit".

Ambience good, and service was generally good. Menu is limited to 2 starters and two main courses. Absolutely fine with me. That can bode really well. However, with such a limited menu, it needs to be good. The food was heavy. Not great. Lacked flare and lightness of touch. We went here because it was recommended by Jay Rayner some time ago. Not sure what has happened since that review. What a shame. I would not go back.

Went for the Valentines Day set menu. We didn't have a menu on our table and got an extra starter that wasn't in the advertised menu, don't know what it was and the waiter couldn't tell us either. The main course was extremely salty. My partner didn't have any cutlery and struggled trying to catch someone's eye. The honey tart was extremely sweet, probably because my taste buds had been dessicated by the main course. I couldn't eat it, and I usually love puddings. The madelines in the petits fours were beautifully fresh and warm, but also drenched in the overly sweet honey. Served alongside hand made truffles the contrasts were too great between sweet and bitter, making both inedible for me. Service poor, no one offered additional drinks or coffee. At least the water was free flowing to help prevent total dehydration.

The overall experience was poor. A lot of the servers were agency staff who clearly did not know what they were serving. A lot of tables around us kept asking - "is this gluten free?" or "is this vegan" and the server didn't know. The servers also dropped glasses several times through the night. The heating of the restaurant was so high that it was uncomfortable to be sat there. The whole experience was over 2 hours long and we didn't stay for the final dish - the heat, poor service, and the fact the band only played during the main course was really poor. Overall, it was not value for money and we are very hesitant on coming back to Kino - it was really a disappointment on Valentines. The only saving grace was that the food was good - portions were a large size for a tasting course set menu but that's a good problem to have.

A great evening as we have come to expect now . Great vibe and the live music was an added bonus . Loved the food , service great - attentive but not in your face . Hope to return one time and experience the full menu as we generally come pre theatre . You have gone from strength to strength and have clearly found your stride - well done all 😊

I was disappointed with my second visit to Kino. The menu was limited to the pre-theatre menu, with only a choice of two starters, main courses, and desserts. I was told there wasn't another menu. We sat upstairs again, which, with all the heavy curtains, is overly warm and muffled. I realise some may call it cosy; it's a personal thing. The service was friendly but not very organised, and we had to keep asking for cutlery and drinks that did not arrive. Some of the food was over-seasoned for my palate.
