Kipferl Islington very accommodatingly pulled off a lovely surprise for a small special occasion with my boyfriend. We arrived at a decorated table with a great window view ; the service was very friendly and prompt all around; the music was the played loudly enough for you to hear it but not loud to the point you had to raise your voice to talk; loved the spicy Hungarian sausage - such a great value dish.
I have been to Kipferl many times before (including before it moved to Camden Passage) & have always found it to be an excellent place. A little too expensive maybe?
Delicious food for great value and good service! Definitely will come again!
Amazing food and service. Authentic austrian cuisine.
Good solid food, great service, enjoyable for a casual local meal
It was a relaxing atmosphere with great service.
It was my second time visit. Food is outstanding, there are nice and kind staffs and lovely cakes <3
Nice casual, great staff and atmosphere
Bad costumer service
Cute spot just hidden away from the main part of angel. Very Good spot for a date.
Cosy and tasty
Lovely afternoon spent having coffee and asking the other diners on the best soup! Service was fab and friendly:) I mustn't leave it too long this time to return to Kipferl !
The service was great and staff were really friendly. Food came out quickly but we weren't rushed. Great authentic Viennese food, particular the schnitzel and desserts. Would go back!
very relaxed atmosphere, nice food and good service.
We had a lovely dinner at Kipferl. Was a bit hesitant as it looks more like a day time venue but the service was warm and accommodating and food was delicious. Lovely to see there's an authentic Austrian option nearby.
I always love coming back to Kipferl, really superb restaurant!
I'm rarely impressed with food in London - it's usually good, but not mindblowing. This is one of the few places where I'd definitely go back, and the food was so good I took home the leftovers (which were only there because I ordered too much out of sheer gluttony). Brilliant place!
Yet again an excellent meal with great service. Main course plus Austrian cakes makes for a good lunch with friends.
Nice cosy Austrian restaurant
Perfect for date or small group of people
They accommodated a bigger gathering than we booked with a smile and the good was so good we went back the next day!
Very authentic Austrian cuisine with great quality products for a good price. Would definitely visit again.
As an Austrian myself the bar is quite high when it comes to Austrian food. But Kipferl always delivers. Plus, I couldn't live without my daily portion of Styrian Pumpkinseed Oil which I also buy from this venue.
Great Austrian food.
Spinach Knedel were especially good, also strudel and all desserts were excellent
Good food, shame it was served a little cold. Generally service was good but like the food I felt some of it could have been a little warmer. Again the ambience was fine, it's a nice little place just a little cold in the back of the restaurant.
Would revisit again and give another go.
Savoury food was heavenly, but goulash was too small a portion for fiver. Applestrudel was disappointing. Was charged 50p for 2 squirts of canned whipped cream. £1.50 for a cup of hot water was daylight robbery. freezing cold inside and when told staff they don't seem to care all their customers were wearing their coats eating. Won't be going back until it's warmer and won't be doing dessert ever again.
Austrian Food as it should be cooked and served with the right ambiance
My second visit was less successful than the first; I'd picked the good dishes from the (small) menu the first time round. On the first occasion I had spinach noodles, and then a sausage stew. Second time, I had a soup that tasted of stock cube, and some rather knobbly veal - it was edible, and portions are generous, but not made with any great care. This is home cooking - big servings, and flavours are not subtle. My potato salad was a mistake - a messy bowl of broken up boiled spuds with some other raw vegetables and a powerful vinaigrette. Dessert pancakes with cherries and icecream was pleasant, and the tea and coffee are good. The young waiters leave you alone - in a good way - and are friendly without being smarmy. On my second visit there were NO SAUSAGES on the menu - this seems like a big oversight, for an Austrian café with four or five bangers normally available. The liver dumpling soup was also finished. I would check with them first when making a booking. I will go back for a third dip, because it's a quiet pleasant place, but stick to the things you know you will like.
Lovely evening but pricey for schnitzel and potato salad
The food was real Austrian, reminds me of the food my Grandma makes! (Believe an Austrian :)). Was happy to find such quality and the cakes look amazing !
Had a lovely time and the food very good. We went for Austrian specifically due to a friend missing her homeland's food. Knoedel, Schnitzel and Kaiserschmarrn all hit the spot. Our anglo friends also liked the beer and wine (all Austrian). Waitresses friendly and attentive. Will go back and try some of the other tasty looking desserts as well as more schnitzel.
Fabulous first outing to Kipferl. My friend and I loved the ambience, thought the staff were attentive and food delicious. We are both going back next month!
The standards at Kipferl remain consistently high. Always a pleasure.
Excellent as always, the Kasespatzle is excellent and nothing beats the Sachetorte for desert.
A trip to Austria without leaving the country. For those of us with a minor obsession for things Viennese - excellent Schnitzel, Strudel and Sachertorte, with good Austrian wine and coffee - it's heaven.
Very good Austrian food, friendly atmosphere. Very good selection of cakes. Coffee outstanding.
Always a pleasure to come here.
Nice, simple Austrian food (sausages and coffee specialities) in Camden Passage. Small, welcoming, excellent friendly service, and very little background noise. My favourite place at The Angel
Really enjoyed our meal here: the schnitzel, goulash & spinach dumplings were all excellent- & came in large, filling portions. We also got lovely cakes to take away. Service was friendly & efficient. Looking forward to going back for brunch.
Lovely food and well priced. Fresh and well balanced. Good portion sizes and knowledgeable staff. Lovely atmosphere with quite a casual feeling .I suppose if I'm picking, I think the schnitzel could perhaps come with a bit of salad. But it was super tasty. Will definitely come again!
Always a pleasure. The spinach dumplings are to die for!
