Really good food. Service was a bit pushy and not particularly warm. Regardless, would visit again.
Great food and drink - lovely friendly staff and great atmosphere
We visited Japan last year, and the food at Kiri is every bit as good as the real thing. The description of the restaurant as an Izakaya only really relates to the ambiance and decor, rather than the menu, although that didn’t matter, as the food was absolutely incredible. We ordered the tasting menu with sake pairing, which was fantastic value at £60 per head. We left feeling satisfyingly full and delighted with this amazing find. Already planning to return!
Good quality homestyle comfort food. Better than overpriced restaurants
Everything is perfect, from the miso aubergine to the barley tea to the comfy sofa chairs. My friend, who has very high standards when it comes to Japanese food, loved the food too. The light mochi ice cream and chocolate mousse finished the meal nicely. Thanks for looking after us.
It was a last minute get together with friends who were visiting London. I always wanted to try Kiri but never had a chance and I was impressed by the food and the atmosphere. It was a nice cosy evening with lovely staff.
Our server Sunny was outstanding!
There are many good Japanese restaurants in London (Chisou, Sakagura, Roka, Murakami, Sosharu, etc) - I don't consider Kiri one of them.
Kiri's menu items are priced similar to other restaurants but the standard is much lower. The quality of sushi at Kiri was poorer (sinewy and chewy), service was poor even though the restaurant wasn't busy on our visit. Our fairly light, quick meal for two (with a cocktail each and a glass of sochu each) came to £140.00. This seemed very over-priced for the food and poor dining experience we had.
I wouldn't recommend Kiri and I won't be returning.
We loved it. Delicious food and very friendly helpful service. What a find!
I love Kiri they serve authentic dish (I am Japanese) and great food and still staffs are very trained and modest - often I’ve seen good Japanese restaurants start showing bossy or arrogant behavior- Kiri is far away from that, nice and at home service- I’ll be back whenever I can
Soba food is great too!!
Sake Kiri carries great too!!
Amazing authentic food in a very cosy and quiet environment
My friends and I really loved Kiri. It won’t be the last time we came here.
Back for another visit to Kiri. We love this hidden treasure. Away from the bustle of Oxford Street this restaurant vibe feels like being in Tokyo. Good for a catch up with friends. Busy but not too noisy that you can't talk. Food is on point and delicious from the fried Chicken Kata-age to Sashimi and pair with a good sake. Can recommend the warm Heart of Oak.
Fab service, Great Location, and the food was delicious
Always a great experience and great food!
My first visit as a guest with my client. Got there early, got greeted politely by the staff on duty. He was very polite. Got served very quickly with high quality service. We ordered our food and the food came quick and delicious. Very happy with the visit and will definitely visit again.
Surprised to be able to get a table last minute on a Friday behind Oxford Street, but no fear of disappointment!
Great lychee martini cocktails, every dish from sashimi to tataki to tempura was wonderful;- creatively put together and super- tasty. The service was exemplary- friendly, informed and time sensitive. Will definitely go again.
Above expectations. Kiri is a hidden gem, great cousine and excellent sake collection.
Birthday meal for my 19 year old who loves Japanese good...... very happy ! Great food, great restaurant
I have been to this restaurant many times before and the food and service have always been super. However, last night our food was very delayed and came out at different times in a random order, which meant that my meat had already become cold by the time the rice and the rest of the meal for my companion arrived. We believe that there was some table mess up, but disappointingly nobody would apologise or recognise the inconvenience. We think it was just a one off and look forward to going back!
Great food. Quite pricey. My son ordered a dish that was 'off' the second dish that he ordered to replace this came AFTER the rest of us had finshed our main course. Not ideal as it was his birthday treat and he didn't want us to say anything.
We went on a not too busy day, and had a great experience. The staff was helpful and efficient, food was good and arrived without much wait. I had a mocktail, and it’s one of the best mocktail I have so far!
Food is amazing, one of the best in town honestly, but the service was really average, the waitress that took the order was not “open” and it helpful. That is disappointed because the food is outstanding !
I came to Kiri on Saturday night and it was lovely. We couldn't decide between 2 wines so the waitress bought them both out for us to try. We had help with the menu and the waitresses were on hand to help us with whatever we needed. It was perfect for a date night - a lot of other couples there. The food was amazing and I just had a really lovely evening. It's a hidden gem!
The in charge for the shift was marvelous!! She attended us really well!! Outstanding people!!
2nd time we’ve been here and still love the tasty food and presentation. Lovely and friendly staff! Hidden gem just around the corner from Bond St.
Super nice restaurant. Staff were very nice too – they even made us a special cocktail that wasn’t on the menu anymore! The kara-age was delicious.
Exceptional food and service at fantastic prices. The staff are very attentive and prompt.
The restaurant is great,a bit pricy but very good food!
very helpful staff - we have been several times but our waitress this time was amazing, nice sushi rolls, quiet and cosy environment. definitely try the miso aubergine, avoid the chicken teriyaki
For the price, the quality of the raw fish was subpar - I was facing the crew preparing the sushi’s and watched in horror as they cut avocados without removing blackened spots
Great experience this time. Quiet as usual but we enjoyed Unagi don which was tasty and generous. Go to Kiri for hot food and you will not be disappointed.
Excellent food, good value for money and friendly staffs very attentive. Excellent location as well only a few minutes walk from Selfridges and Bond Street tube station.
Will go back again soon.
The pre theatre menu was very satisfying
Amazing, best Japanese food I had in a while! Food was delicious, nice view on the sushi counter from by the bar!
We really enjoyed our evening meal. The food was tasty and service friendly. But I left with a bad taste in my mouth because as we were just finishing eating, we were told by our waitress the table was needed for for other customers. This came out of the blue and left me a bit embarrassed as I had arranged the booking with my 2 daughters (one called Kiri even!) who I had not seen for awhile. We had no prior warning of this. A woman came to our table to say she tried to ring me earlier. However my daughters were surprised we weren't informed when we first came in. We saw no one waiting when we left!(Other restaurants seem to make it work by having people queue.) If they had waited 10 minutes to say something (giving us 2 hours) we would left anyway by then. Very disappointed to have been treated in this manner.
Went to Kiri for the first time on a Friday night, celebration dinner with friends.
The service was outstanding, all the staff were very friendly and really paid attention even when the place was packed.
The food was very fresh and very tasty especially the sushi rolls and the sashimi selections as well as the fantastic black sesame and miso ice cream- a must try!
The only comment we had to make for the food was the grilled prawns which were not satisfactory. The amount of meat compared to the price was way off. They made up for it by really listening to our comment and of course they did take it off the bill on their own initiative as we didn’t ask for it to be deducted.
Last thing the music could be better and that would definitely add to the ambience!
Overall great experience, great food, fantastic staff! Will go back very very soon.
We enjoyed a magical evening at Kiri Japanese Izakaya. The food was good but what made the evening outstanding was the friendly service. We were given a warm welcome and that made all the difference in the world. For this reason, we will like to return here for another meal. Thank you to all the lovely waiting staff, your effort makes a real difference for customers.
I arrived 5 minutes earlier than my reservation time and I was asked to wait outside. It was cold and the restaurant seemed empty so I thought the staff could have been more considerate and offered me to wait inside instead where it is warmer. So I waited outside and no one came to notify me when my reservation time was up. I went in myself when it was 5 minutes past my reservation time.
The main dishes are decent and taste good. If you go for the lunch set, the starters and desserts are really small. The dessert was 2 small slices of melon and a couple of grapes.
Serving staff made a remark that he has refilled our tea many times. I wasn't sure what to make out of it but felt slightly offended as if he is implying that we have overstayed our welcome. There were many empty tables so it wasn't because someone was waiting for our table.
