Fantastic local Japanese with a chance of great celebrity spotting. My favourite restaurant in Chelsea.
Amazing restaurant with even more amazing cuisine! Everything melts in the mouth and brings such excitement to the palate! The service was superb!
Delicious food and friendly service. The lamb is a must have !
Great taste and cozy vibes u feel like home
I always love eating at Kiru and this time was no exception. I brought some friends with me who had not been before and they loved everything! There were a couple new dishes on the menu this time which I tried and the new yellowtail dish was exquisite and definitely now my favourite. I will be back very soon!
Amazing experience. The food and how fresh everything tasted is the reason we will come back. The service seemed a bit overbearing but never intrusive.
We've been relocated to London a few months ago and we're still discovering new places and good food. This restaurant is the only one we've been already twice, the food is outstanding I really recommended,
From the moment we walked in the service was impeccable. The menu serves a wide variety of options with some truly delicious meals. The setting is beautiful, sat under a giant blossom tree. It feels like fine dining but with a friendly staff that stops it being intimidating.
It’s always nice when you go to a restaurant and the owner makes an effort to speak to every customer.
Very tasty Japanese food (at a price)! Pretty cherry tree blossom decor and friendly waiters. Crowd is mixed, including some “celebrities” from TOWIE who I’ve been told have connections to the owner. Really delicious and beautiful food. Just be aware that it’ll be about £100 a head (couple of drinks each) so pretty expensive!
Excellent food that comes at a price !
We took an early booking so it was quiet.
This is a lovely restaurant.
The food is amazing especially the Black Cod and the Spinach Salad
Quiet part of Chelsea but what a great find!
Thanks to the staff and just to re-iterate - the LED lights above the blossom need to be red/purple/pink. ;-)
Pleasant enough, the tree décor and feature walls were nice. Service was a bit sluggish, but staff were nice. We had the tasting menu, some of which was great and some of which was very meh. Expensive, not really worth it. Average place.
A little pricy but an excellent menu. Very tasty. The restaurant itself has a beautiful peaceful ambiance.
Highly recommend this restaurant - it’a a little gem tucked away in Chelsea with lovely staff and delicious food. Also.. the best cocktails in London!
have been many times always very good. how about some new desert choices . sashimi very high quality . top notch cocktails
Excellent fresh food. Great value and very friendly service.
Great food and service as always. Fabulous anniversary dinner.
Whilst in the area, was looking for a nice comfortable Japanese that offered good value and an easy walk from the Museum area we had stayed in and spent the day.
Easy to find and beautiful inside. Food was amazing and I asked the waiter to advise on the number of small dishes that we wanted to have that evening, not only was we helped with choices but also the number of plates that were bought out at the correct times and presented beautifully.
Great Service, Good Value, Great Location. Amazing Food. recommended!!
As always, absolutely spectacular - impeccable service, and sublime food, their new chef is top notch - make sure to try the beef tataki and the lamb chops! Also I love the new addition of the blossom trees to the decor! Thoroughly recommend and will keep visiting.
Great service! Waiters are really attentive! Lovely friendly place with great decor
Terrible service - very hot as air con not working - found average and they missed off things we’d ordered
We booked the table with the 50% offer they had and it was great
Fabulous food the popcorn shrimp Ia amazing as was the lamb. It is expensive we ate there when it was 50% off everything including wine and great cocktails
Fabulous food! We had a great time. Recommend it highly!
I’ve been going to Kiru for some time now and the food has always been amazing! The Black Cod is the best I have had anywhere and their sushi is to die for. I went for lunch with a friend who hadn’t been before and she loved it, especially the spider crab roll which is both visually impressive and very tasty. I’ll be back soon!
It was very noisy the evening we were there and the table service was not brilliant. We had to ask for our water a few times and never sure if the waiters have acknowledged the extra bits we ordered.
When first opened it was very good , came regular not any more.
The food was really good and fresh, with very friendly service in a beautiful dining room.
Food as always was great - but the service on this occasion was pretty poor. I have been a regular for three years and was very disappointed this visit
Been here many times and usually nice. However, gradually gotten worse.
•starters still great. eg:
-crispy rice with tartar
• nigiri + sashimi still great
• hosomaki and other rolls quite shocking - bad quality rice and, fish not same standard as sashimi as well.
• stay away from anything tempura - tastes as if oil hasn’t been changed for weeks.
Terrible service, especially given the restaurant is almost always empty.
•Took 5 mins to be attended to, to get our table.
•Took another 15 mins to be attended to, to order.
•Was told at 9:45 to make my last order as kitchen closes at 10, which by any city’s standards is significantly early
• Only 3 other tables in the restaurant. We were only table left by 10 o clock.
• Nice décor, layout could be improved - too much like a refectory.
Very good Japanese food which we really enjoyed.
We would have liked to see some combination deals on the menu to make ordering easier for those who are not too familiar with Japanese food.
We would go there again
Love the new interior design and the food was excellent, service was friendly and attentive
Amazing as always!!
Kiru was fantastic when it first opened. We used to go there several times a month. the food was excellent and interesting, always busy and very atmospheric. however the last 2 times we have been the menu is much more limited and the food rather average however price still expensive with the restaurant only being half full so no atmosphere . such a shame a a great concept and location.
Excellent food, interesting and healthy options. Lovely staff. Always very welcoming.
Outstanding food & service. Great decor & relaxed yet formal atmosphere. Made my birthday special & attention to detail was exceptional. Really enjoyable evening.
I have been to Kiru several times, but this time was disappointed with both the service and the food.. i usually order tempura and what used to be giant prawns are not that anymore and the vegetables were also not great.i was also disappointed at service as asked the waiter for a recommendation of a wine similar to the Italian wine which was £9 a glass and he gave me a wine which was £22 a glass which I only noticed when I got the bill!! I thought was not correct so not sure will go back.. a shame as was a great neighbourhood restaurant.
Have been going to Kiru since it first opened and found the food outstanding, the service great and I recommended it highly to all friends. We were delighted to have a really nice restaurant in our immediate neighbourhood of Chelsea. Since they initially closed one Summer for a month's renovation, I think they eventually re-opened after 3 months, the food and service has been appalling ever since. The majority of food portions have shrunk and remained the same price, as well as being mediocre at best. The main menu appears to be the original one but execution is now poor. A high proportion of new staff who are just not up to the job. We paid £150, inclusive of some alcohol, for a selection of starters and no main courses, no deserts or coffee. We ate early but there was zero ambience. When we left after 9 pm there were only a few tables occupied. Really a very poor experience. Since there re-opening, I have been several times to see if the food has improved but it has only worsened. It may be an easy accessible local choice but it is certainly worth going a mile or two further if you wish to enjoy good food, service and ambience. What a shame, would not go back. I cannot recommend this restaurant at all, although may be worth having a drink at the bar before moving on to dinner.
My wife and I ate dinner at Kiru just recently for the first time.
I suppose the best thing I can say about Kiru is that the sashimi, of which we had two
portions, was excellent – very fresh and just the right temperature. The Toro was
particularly good. The cut rolls were also delicious. Although expensive (more on this in a
moment), the sashimi is a highlight. The rest of the evening was more disappointing.
Firstly, my wife and I arrived when only one other cover was there. For some reason, it took nearly
nearly 15 minutes to get my cocktail, whilst my wife’s came in less than 5 minutes. And the bartender was reading rather than preparing my cocktail – perhaps there was a
communications issue between our server and the bar, but our first course arrived before
my cocktail, so this started the evening off on the wrong foot. Also, we had the fried rice
balls and yellowtail as a starter, and it came in three components – the fried rice balls, soy sauce, and the yellowtail. But we had no idea how to eat / “mix” this, or use the
sauce, etc. The server didn’t explain it to us. In fact, aside from the sashimi and rolls, the
rest of the food was mediocre at best. We did enjoy the cocktails when they finally arrived. The décor of the restaurant is extremely nice, but I would reckon no more than 4-5 tables
were being used which made for a less-vibrant ambience. As far as value, the meal (excluding drinks and service) sat us back about £130, which I considered very expensive given we didn’t even have a cooked main course. (The entire dinner for two with five drinks and service was £200.) To help you think about the cost of the sashimi and rolls, we had 16 pieces of sashimi and two rolls (spicy tuna and spider) for around £80, including four pieces of Toro. I love the location of Kiru and the décor and the fish, but there is room for improvement
in several areas.
