Boasting a two storey restaurant with central staircase and feature bar, three stunning private event spaces and an outdoor sunken terrace catering for up to 160 guests. Whatever the occasion, we have the menu to compliment from canapes and bowl food, to seated set menus and our signature cocktails. The menu, Mittel-European classics and German favourites inspired by Chef’s Bjoern’s (from D&D London’s German Gymnasium) heritage, working closely with local suppliers such as beef from Meat Box, sourdough bread from Coombeshead Bakery and all fish from Wing of St Mawes.     The hostess at the entry was really rude which set us off in the beginning. But otherwise, the food was great and the service was amazing. However, unfortunately would not go back - it was my husband’s birthday and we did not take good memories back from the place.

    Spacious restaurant with a German theme cooking. Very good service from staff, pleasant and attentive. Comprehensive menu for most tastes, a la carte, fixed price, wine by the glass if preferred. Good cooking but not inexpensive, you get what you pay for. Noise levels high when we dined...making normal conversation difficult. Quieter at lunchtimes perhaps. Overall a pleasant experience.

    I am German and had so looked forward to some traditional German fare. Sadly, the food was seriously disappointing and vastly overpriced. Venue is nice snd the service was good but overall not enough for me to go back.

    Very poor quality food and not the experience we were hoping for . The triple cooked chips which were 50 p each ( 6 in a small vessel) we hard pale and had been cooked in a regular oven. Think mcKanes oven chips. The schnitzel burger was minute and my husband had curry wurst which was chopped an equated to half a sausage. Lots of upsale from serving staff eg would you like truffle oil on chips ?cheese? Not the experience we had thought although the manager did get more chips that were cooked this time. The server commented ‘ how was your second serving of chips!!! As though we were just hungry and asking for more. Not the best dinner out

    The venue is even more stunning than the pictures. We got to seat upstairs with full view of the bar. We ordered the butchers platter which was a substantial amount of food for 2 people and exceptionally tasty. The service was excellent, our waiter was very attentive and even recommended us not to go for the bread after choosing the sharing plater. Definitely would go again.

    Great food, cocktails, lovely surroundings, attentive but unobtrusive staff. Little mark off for cocktails not having quite the kick they ought and the pudding pastry being soft, but overall would recommend!

    The service was very good and it’s an attractive venue but sadly the lack of atmosphere and the overpriced, low quality wine and food, really lets it down. I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

    Great family Birthday lunch, Suzy, our server, was outstanding in every way. Knew exactly how much to interact with us and in the most appropriate way. Well deserved of the 12.5% Service Charge on her own :-)

    A gorgeous building with great seating inside & out. The food was very nice indeed with done real choice. The set menu was very reasonably priced. Service was outstanding - so friendly and efficient. All in all a great experience in a lovely setting.

    Great location, inside is lovely with elegant covid friendly measures and outside is next to the fountain with effective heaters. Service is very attentive and friendly, one slow cocktail order and sometimes it can be difficult to understand due to masks. I'd recommend finding better fitting masks. Food is very good, mixture of French and German. We found the chicken schnitzel a little dry (unlike the Vienna) and the sauce with it didn't quite work. Good portion sizes we didn't feel like we wanted a desert.

    What a surprise to discover this restaurant. It’s so beautiful inside and the service was fantastic! The servers were so helpful. The food was delicious! The cocktails off the charts. This comes from someone who is a foodie.

    Lovely food, amazing venue felt really classy! Great cocktails. Service really friendly. Would definitely recommend to friends. Only thing I’d say not so great was the music, didn’t really match the vibe of the place.
