Disappointing food. Very very slow service. I realize it is fine dining but the gap between courses was a lot.
Gorgeous salads, creative entrees, yummy desserts, topped off by a tour of the kitchen....perfection!
We're so happy to hear you enjoyed Knife Pleat! Thank you for your comments.
This Friday (Sep 10) tasting menu was heavenly. Everything from the food flavors, presentation, wine pairing, and service was all perfect.
Thank you! We're very happy to hear you enjoyed your experience.
Great service and excellent food! First time having a tasting menu and did the wine pairing as well. Really well done by the chef and sommelier
We're so happy to hear you enjoyed our Tasting Menu and wine pairing! We hope to see you a gain soon.
Great experience and food. Their preset menu for lunch was really good.
Thank you! We're happy to hear you enjoyed your lunch at Knife Pleat.
Service and food were outstanding. We sat on the patio and it was nice and quiet. Only thing I would recommend is to have additional items on the menu. It was fairly limited and no enough vegetables to choose from.
We're very happy to hear you enjoyed your your experience at Knife Pleat. Thank you for your feedback regarding our menu -- our fall menu will feature additional vegetarian options. We hope to have you back again.
Another magnificent dining experience at Knife Pleat! The Maine lobster was butter poached just right and served with a rich lobster jus and Bloomsdale spinach for the perfect balance of flavors. The addition of black truffle added a delightful umami dimension to an already well executed dish. The dessert of poached apricot, frozen nougat pistachio, almond, and rosemary honey jelly was as beautifully presented as it was delicious.
In addition to the world class cuisine, the wine and beverage list curated by Wine Director Victor Moreno is a compelling addition to the Orange County scene. It is diverse and constantly evolving, yet always compliments the cuisine. Service, as always was friendly, attentive and knowledgable.
Thank you for your kind review. We're so happy to hear you enjoyed our dinner at Knife Pleat. And thank you for your comments about our wine list and our wonderful Beverage Director! We look forward to seeing you a gain soon.
The ambience was beautiful and the service was impeccable. I was there withWe ordered the butter

Great food and amazing service. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable!

Use to work for them so im partial but it was a special time for me so I went in for the 6 course Friday tasting menu. It was sheer spectacular. The wine pairing was on point the food was perfect and the portions were right. Can't wait to go again
Thank you very much! It's always a pleasure to serve one of team mebers.
Delish and will ferrules service. Interior decor is sumptuous and elegant.
Thank you very much. It's very nice to hear you liked our design as well as your meal.
Always Excellent service , food, environment. Especially weekday afternoon special occasion lunch. Unhindered by anyone and relaxing well.
Thank you! Very happy to hear you enjoyed our food and the service! Matt is a wonderful part of our team.
Had a pre-Labor Day weekday lunch here--continues to be one of the best spots in OC for midday-dining. Love the patio; unique succulents and everything is growing in.
The assorted marinated olives make for a nice starter. Highly recommend the Lobster Caesar--generously portioned and big pieces of lobster. Great dressing. The three-course menu du jour for $38 is superb. Charred little gem salad (included super sweet plums), French Braun chicken thigh with delicious accompaniments and an ethereal mille feuille with vanilla pastry cream. Talented culinary team. Definitely would be appreciated by foodies...
Thank you for your kind review. We're very pleased to to hear you enjoyed your experience at Knife Pleat!
We felt like we were at an upscale restaurant in Paris. Outstanding in all ways.
The whole experience was first rate!
The chef’s special vanilla eclair is exquisite. If not available, definitely opt for the hazelnut-chocolate Louis XV dessert.
For lunch, the lobster caesar salad is one of the more popular options.
Wonderful ambiance and delectable dining experience. Truly great quality food. Only removed a star due to some fruit flys popping around, but besides that, it was a fantastic experience. Recommend for those who can appreciate simple, quality meals.
Brie with truffles was delicious
The lobster salad was bland.
Pans cotta nothing special.
Amazingly fresh food. Great wine list.
This was a cut above the usual fine dining in OC. New ways of preparing and presenting tradition French cuisine. We had the escargot, lobster, & duck. We were very impressed with the perfect preparations. The escargot presentation was very unique but delicious. Lobster delicious! Duck was perfection!!!
Did not have dessert.
The dining room is gorgeous!
Thank you very much! We're very happy to hear you enjoyed your dinner at Knife Pleat. Please join us again and try one of our desserts.
Space is stark and over-the-top beige with bare surfaces/ceiling, bare tables and hardwood floors so very noisy. Zucchini soup ruined by addition of olives that were not disclosed on the menu and overpowered the taste, possibly too much cream made it heavy not light. Halibut was not cooked through; center was cold and hadn’t cooked at all. Risotto was not classical risotto at all but very sweet tasting, like a desert, possibly because of the type of rice used. Service slow, still had not been served the main course an hour and a half after sitting dow. Too clever by half. Very disappointing.
Most dishes are excellent, quality, seasoning, presentation, etc. During our vegetarian pre-fixe we felt the “risotto “
Was way too salty. Then last night the zucchini soup was off the charts salty. Presentation was excellent. I’m a retired chef and I wonder if the same person made those dishes - way too heavy handed.
The restaurant is accessible on the third floor via a glass elevator. Indoors or outdoors the space is elegantly, thoughtfully appointed. It is possible to have a conversation in this space unlike so many restaurants these days. Respectable wine list, delicious food, attentive service. Definitely order a little box of macarons to go.
Tasting Menu was amazing - Best restaurant in OC!
Knife and Pleat is beyond everything. its located in South Coast Plaza so it's the perfect accessory your shopping experience. The ambiance is sophisticated with clean lines. They also have an amazing prefixed dinner menu on special occasions with wine flights for the ultimate experince.
When going for lunch, go for the daily fixed-price special. Salad, main course and dessert were all excellent and the price is extremely fair. Individual items, naturally cost more and you can make your selections. But for a first time visit, I'd go with the daily special.
Always good quality food and amazing services
Everything was DELICIOUS!
Wonderful food and service to celebrate a special occasion
An outstanding (and too rarely offered) vegetarian tasting menu featuring the best of summer's bounty exquisitely prepared. Most of the courses featured one vegetable, such as a course of eggplants prepared several different ways, or an assortment of perfectly sliced and cooked exotic mushrooms over barley. The chef also served his vegetable mosaic, a melange of vegetables each prepared differently and then arranged artistically and served with a truffled vegetable jus. The presentations were perfectly executed. This meal was definitely worth the splurge.
Well balanced menu and offerings. Fabulous
We had a quiet dinner on the patio. The food was exceptional and reminded be of the best restaurants in France. I look forward to returning!
Afternoon tea is unforgettable :)
Everything was so delicious and the service was excellent!
We go to Knife Pleat whenever we are in Costa Mesa. The food presentation and flavors are spectacular and fresh. The service is prompt and unassuming. The table ware is creative and eclectic.
A perfect respite after shopping.
It was my
Birthday. My sisters came from Beverly Hills, amazed at the mall, beautiful restaurant & service
We came to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday and it didn't disappoint. The food was amazing, staff were very accommodating and friendly. Thank you Chef Tony and staff for a wonderful experience. We will be back.
We had a birthday dinner for 5 on a Friday evening. it's a tasting menu only on Fridays. And on this particular tasting menu, it was all about seafood. $185 plus taxes and 23% tips. the meal was mediocre and not at impressive. chef and manager and service staffs were attentive.
the over experience was pleasant for our dinner party. Will not do tasting menu here again though.
Best restaurant with the best food. Set lunch menu is always delicious.
Thank you! We're so happy to know you enjoyed your lunch.
There for birthday dinner. We sat on the patio. It is very plain, but quiet, with plenty of room. The service is totally on point. Menu is small, but offers everything you would want. Plating is exceptional. The food was delicious. We tried a variety of everything. Each dish is very thoughtfully prepared and portions are generous for fine dining. Every dish is unique and beautiful. The caramel-cognac dessert was one of the most complex and exquisite we’ve ever had. Cocktails were the only thing that may need more attention. Didn’t drink wine. Overall, excellent birthday dinner choice we were all very happy.
Thank you for joining us for your birthday. We're very happy to hear that you enjoyed your dinner and service. We also appreciate hearing that we can improve our cocktails. Hope to see you again!
