Went to Kola House using a Travel Zoo voucher. It is very nicely decorated, modern and clean. Our waiter Nick was great and attentive. The appetizers were very tasty, but amount of food very small. Drinks were tasty too but served in small glasses filled to the brim with ice and at a cost of $16 each. I think the biggest problem was the entrees. We ordered two for the table of four people. The chicken was suppose to be for two people and cost $56 and the fish dish which was $37. The fish was slightly better than the chicken but nothing special taste wise. The chicken consisted of six small pieces that were dry and pretty tasteless. Thinking back we wish we would have complained but we didn't. Given NYC prices are high, this was still way overpriced for the quantity/quality of the food and drinks. Will not recommend and will not go back.
Ambiance wasn't great, nice bar area -seems like tables in restaurant was an after thought.
Staff seems confused and food took forever to come out, they bought us drinks to make up for the delay. Food was just okay, a little better the your local dinner.
Amazing!!!!! We will def come back soon! Thank you so much for your hospitality!
Twice I have made reservations for this restaurant via Opentable. The first time on 10-6-17 they cancelled it hours before for a private event. The second time on 10-28-17 we paid for parking and showed up one time only to be told that the restaurant was closed. On both occasions, they called or texted independently of OpenTable confirming the reservation. We have gift certificate for the restaurant now expired due to inability to have reservations honored and zero word back from them. Avoid.
We had the best live jazz experience in our 20 years living in NYC.
The Monday night Big Band Jazz orchestra and the swing dancers took us back to a 1940's film. Amazing!
Everything was amazing ! Great food and service
Came to dinner here with a Pulsd voucher which wasn't really followed. Food was tasty, appetizers were better than the entrees and overall a nice time, but the restaurant turns into a club and while we were finishing up the staff was moving tabels around for the night crowd. Overall a weird vibe.
Planned my birthday dinner here & arrived to the restaurant being closed because of a water main break. Couldn’t have called your reservations to tell them? It was really fun trying to find another restaurant at 9pm on a Friday night with a group for my birthday.
This place was alot of fun! We were there on a Monday and it was "Big Band Monday". The band was setting up and started playing while we ate. We had a very tasty homemade ricotta appetizer with strawberry jam in the center and spread both on a piece of toast. The ricotta and jam mixture was good enough to eat by itself - melt in your mouth. We shared the chicken for two and that was very tasty too (fried was awesome and juicy). Gelato for desert hit the spot. Would definitely go again when in town!
We dined before the live music crowd and it was very quiet (almost empty). The space is beautiful and the service was excellent. The food however was the most memorable. The meats were cooked perfectly tender, the cocktails were excellent and the side dishes that came with our meal were yummy. I would definitely return.
Kind of a weird neon vibe as it seems more of an event space than a restaurant. Food, however, was quite good and the service was exceptional.
Very tasty food, good service and great live jazz music
Great Music! Our was very friendly and accommodating. I didn't eat but my friend did and enjoyed the pizz.
I'm from Argentina ...amazing place...amazing show of the blackfires...great time..
Food was extremly good, service was good too but the atmosphere was not very customer-friendly; they removed the tables because there was a private party about to start
The menu is overpriced. They list everything as family sized, however, when I ordered the ravioli, they only served me one medium sized ravioli. I felt as though it was a rip off.
Worst food experience of the millennium
The food was good and the place nice. Too bad that they had a GREAT concert by Sophie Auster and there was s Google crowd making noise and interfering with a music recital. I mean if there's music playing live the environment should be prepared for us ONLY visiting your place because of the artist.
Cool spot, live band is always a plus. Younger crowd.
Music was too loud to have a conversation at the table
A bit rubbish - had booked a table but restaurant closed due to snow. No email or phone call to that effect, nothing on their website or Twitter (even though they did tweet that day). I only found out when I rang an hour or so before to check. Lots of other places open that evening.
Came here for my 21st birthday for dinner and the staff was so sweet and conversational. They were quick with cocktails and generous with wine tasting. I love the events they host here as well and that motivated me to try this place on a very special day
Great place, cool, great cocktails and very tasty food, chicken cooked two ways is a must!
A fantastic dining experience. I thoroughly enjoyed it and was taken care of beyond expectations. Will definitely recommend to friends.
Perfect place. Beautiful inside, super cool, great drinks and delicious food
Everything was cool, until we
Lived the fried chicken for two and the goat cheese ice cream was a true delight
Everything I had hoped for...I'm always skeptical when hearing about a new Trendy Meatpacking restaurant but it's the kind of thing you just have to try out anyways.
We arrived and the place was pretty full, the bar and overall decor is really unique and very instagram-worthy, lots of little details throughout that caught our eye..Service was great and we loved trying all the unique cocktail combinations especially the smoky one. The menu is easy and approachable and definitely great for groups to share which we did. The chicken for two is pretty epic. Be aware, you will probably find yourself people watching and staring at their crowd which on the night we were there was pretty impressive...Maybe it was due to Fashion Week but expect to see quite a few celebrities dining their as well...
My only negative was their beer selection was somewhat limited but that's me being super picky. Definitely will be back soon.
The place was empty, maybe 6-8 other people were having dinner.
This place is amazing! A hidden gem in the meatpacking. From the decor, to the food and drinks, to the service- everything was top notch. Very sexy place to take a date or meet up with friends!
Limited options and food did not meet our expectations. Basically there are 3 options to order a steak or 2 types of fish (very limited menu).
Kola House is always a top choice for dinners or gatherings. Being in the Meat Packing District allows for a happy medium afterwork for dinner or drinks.
The restaurant was introducing a new seasonal menu. New items were great. Branzino for two was terrific and so was the pizza. Looking forward to returning.
This is now the second time we've been here. Both experiences were great. Our waiter even remembered us from our first visit.
Great hidden gem! Love the food, presentation and decor. Such a fun place to grab dinner with friends! Would highly recommend
Good time. Must have wild salmon tartar
Rude staff, bad lighting and way overpriced. Staff needs to be improved
I must say I was disappointed, I hyped this place up so much and for nothing. My steak needed salt and was too charred. Apple dessert was like a bowl of apple piece with cinnamon crumbs. I was still hungry after my meal, ended up eating pizza at the Gas light pub. My only regret was not sending my food back, I didn't because I was on a tight schedule.
It's incredibly loud so go for drinks with friends but not to really talk. Service was great for us and the decor looks nice, but expect to wait after your reservation time to be seated. Food is hit or miss, which is a shame given some of the price points - but really people are there to be seen. Admittedly I was curious about this place during conception from a marketing pov.
Everything was great but questioned a little bit too much by our waiter. Ambiance is great, cocktails are great, welcoming team are great. I would def. go back
