Kona Grill - Fairfax
Fri - Sat: 11a-11p
Had a very nice evening. It was not busy for a Friday evening, but the food and service were very good. Sushi, padthai and salad were very good. Would go back.
Always a good experience. Food excellent.
The food at Kona Grill is excellent! Love the different choices.
The sea bass was cooked to perfection! The best fish I have ever eaten - literally melts in your mouth. The macadamia chicken was also great. And the carrot cake made from scratch is delicious but also massive (enough for a group to share).
Kona Grill has big sliding windows that provide tons of natural air. Huge fish tanks inside. Nice food, nice service, casual.
We were unimpressed by the service or the quality of the food. Restaurant needs to train it's staff to better manage orders. Each item was delivered separately and the one item that was delivered first was a wrong order which then took almost 25 minutes to get right...it was a sushi roll. Management did not charge for the item which we appreciate but overall the food was not that great. We have had better experiences at Kona Grill so I think this location just needs time to improve the service level.
Food was decent but service was incredibly slow. Restaurant was not busy
Have eaten @ Kona before but did not have a pleasant experience this time. We had a late reservation @ 10PM arrived 5 mins. Early and we’re told at arrival it was “last call” even though restaurant hours are to 11PM. Felt rushed.
Horrible overall experience. I have visited Kona Grill in Baltimore and had a great experience and was looking forward to dining locally.
The server was rude, lazy and absent the entire time. We had to go to the bar to request salt, pepper and mustard. Our drinks were never refilled. Other tables around us sat without service for over 30 minutes. The restaurant was not busy as this was during lunch.
I will never return to this location given this experience.
Birthday with party of 10
There was a long wait and there were few customers. I'm not sure how they can actually fill the place and serve food in a reasonable amount of time.
Was there to celebrate my 30th birthday with my family and Mother’s Day. We told them it was a special occasion, but they didn’t acknowledge it as I thought they would. Other than that, the experience was good.
We enjoyed Mother's Day lunch. My wife loves the Asian food options; the poke bowl & sushi. We had a great lunch with excellent food and good service!
Always good. I go to the one in Baltimore also. Bartender was friendly.
I’ve dined here several times and it has always been good. Very good sushi and above average entrees. Tonight I had caterpillar sushi roll (eel),salmon roll and sea bass. All were excellent. Wide selection of wines and beers are available. Outstanding service, attentive but not overbearing.
2 of the meals came out cooked/prepared wrong. We had to send them back to the kitchen. Each of the three people in our group ate their meals separately. I was the third person to get mine and by that time was just ready to leave. Barely ate my food
Nothing but nice things to say about this place. It is in a mall but parking and entry were easy. It’s quite spacious and the staff was very attentive. We had sushi followed by sliders and all were very good. We finished up with carrot cake which was huge. There were four of us and we couldn’t finish it. Would definitely go back.
Have enjoyed every visit here and so have our guests
Keep up the great work
Great chicken chili and Cuban sandwich
Hi we had gone to Kona grill in Baltimore- love the pretzels and cheese dip.(And the chicken)At Fairfax we tried the Macadamia nut chicken and it was pretty dry and tough. My husband loved the hamburger though- so maybe just come for apps and burgers. We should have ordered the swordfish.
I made reservations for Valentine’s Day with friends. We were a bit late on arrival which they were very kind about, come to find out the place wasn’t busy at all. Our server was very nice & accommodating as we wanted a booth & allowed/helped us move. Our server was very shy but nice, however, when receiving our food, our food was not hot (fresh). We could see the service line from where we were sitting & it was not busy. The restaurant including the bar must’ve been 1/4-1/3 occupied if that. So we didn’t understand why are food was basically cold. One of our sushi rolls was also falling apart. I honestly wouldn’t eat her again, not because it was terrible because it wasn’t horrible it just wasn’t up to par or anything to rave about as it currently has 4 stars.
We enjoyed our meal and the service was very good. We'll be back.
Great food, versatile menu, great service. Great for a date night, bottles of wine we’re half off!
Just tried the chicken chili and it was delicious. Worth a visit
Our waiter Ethan provided us with a great service experience including insight on the available dishes. The chili-glazed salmon was delicious and the jambalaya was pleasantly spicy but a very heavy entree. I was sad to learn that my favorite appetizer (the three taco combo with pork, black cod and shrimp that I frequently ordered as an entree) has been removed from the dining room menu. I will need to come back soon so that I can find a new favorite from the appetizer menu where the portion size is a bit more manageable than the entrees.
Disappointing meal. Calamari was soggy, drenched in oil. Fried rice was also very unpleasantly oily. Pad Thai wasn’t the most flavorful. Our daughter enjoyed her kids meal. Service was good, ambience great but food was sorely lacking.
Located in Fair Oaks Mall. Not very busy at lunch but a hot spot later. Excellent sushi. Limited non-alcoholic drinks. Service was OK, not very attentive.
It will be our new place to get together with friends. Good food and atmosphere.
We have twice recently after discovering Kona. They have a lot to chose from on their menu which is bringing us back. The service has been excellent. I am not sure why, but it hasn't been crowded. So give them a try.
Poor service. Waited so long for the food to come and when arrived it didn’t have all it needed ( had to ask for wasabi and ginger as not provided initially with the sushi plate) Asked for a spoon and had to remind the waiter 20 min later about my request.
Much improved over the previous three services.
We sat in the dining room after unbelievably slow experiences in the patio and at the bar. One server was trying to cover 14 tables, but the hostess and manager were chipping in to help where they could. Drinks from the bar came in 5 minutes or less.
Food served still hot, excellent as always.
The service was a bit slow at first but improved as the evening went on. The Sushi was excellent.
We have been frequenting Kona Grille since last year and enjoy everything we have ordered. The manager and staff are very friendly, professional, and responsive. We bring different friends with each visit. I recommend the avocado eggroll and calamari for appetizers, and the Chile Lime Shrimp salad - delicious!!
This was our third visit to a Kona Grill and our second at this location. It seems as though they are getting their training together (this is a relatively new location); it's still not exactly 5-star service, but they're very friendly and try hard. The food is really great and a crowd pleaser for even our pickiest eaters. It's a great option and we'll be back!!!
Last time I went here, the service was extremely slow throughout our lunchtime dining experience. We waited over 30 minutes to receive the bill. This time, we decided to try to go for dinner. The service again was painfully slow, despite plenty of open tables in the restaurant. It took over 20 minutes to receive drinks, let alone put in a food order. While our appetizer was comped, it doesn’t make up for the poor service for the second time in a row. Additionally, the macadamia nut chicken, which had been my favorite in other locations, came out extremely over cooked and in much smaller portions than in the past. We will not be returning; there are plenty of restaurants in Fair Oaks to choose from.
I was able to make lunch time reservations for a group of 7 (business holiday lunch); nice to have the reservation option. The table was accommodating to our needs, we had great service. It was quite, clean, and generally a pleasing atmosphere. It is open to the mall hallway, so not overly formal or romantic; but it certainly suited our needs. All the food was good, even for the non-sushi eaters who had salads, sandwiches, and stir-fry options. I will definitely select them again for a similar event.
We waited 25 minutes before anyone came to our high-top table, even though I made reservations through Open Table. The food and drinks were very good though, and the happy hour menu was a great value.
Very good sushi - along with good service. The dishes are more of an Asian fusion then straight Japanese sushi - IMO.
Good date night place. Like the one in Arlington better
