I took 5 of my colleagues for a meal having visited many times with my wife and knew how good it would be. All colleagues thoroughly enjoyed it and will be back. Many thanks.
Fantastic food and great service:
My 2nd visit here and can say these guys really are passionate about their food and customer experience. The restaurant was quite full so we were glad we booked. All the food was excellent! The sushi rolls and salmon nigiri were really fresh and lovely. Restaurant was beautiful, the food was incredible, tasty, amazing presentation! Service too was attentive from the waiter...and not intrusive. If you go I highly recommend the Japanese desserts - the mochi!
The location is a 5 minute walk from Victoria Station. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND to all!!
So nice food
Genuine and Good Food! The staff are very obliging and friendly.
My family of five dined at Kouzu while on vacation. Each of us felt a very strange vibe at Kouzu. We were seated in a corner of the first level by a woman who then took our drink orders. There was only one or two other tables filled. My son ordered a soda—a coke. She said they didn’t serve any soda in the restaurant. Really? So he instead ordered a water. She proceeded to bring a large bottle of water that she opened in front of us. I asked what it was—that he wanted just a tap water in place of the soda they didn’t carry. The server then left the table. Another gentlemen came around and sort of took over. I asked him why they didn’t carry any other drinks except water—he said oh we have lemonade coke, Diet Coke etc.
The next strange thing was the menu. They gave us ample
time with the menu and when they came to take our order I asked what a certain thing was—he said oh that’s a priz five menu that’s different! This menu has never been passed out to us.
This was a sushi restaurant and what is nice—and needed quite honestly—is a rundown of each item as it’s placed on the table, as the majority of us ordered a la carte. This didn’t happen.
I will say the food itself was delicious, however, the strange vibe we got coupled with the sizable price tag would deter me from patronizing this restaurant again if given the chance.
Kouzu's food is always outstanding and highly recommended! But the service can be rather slow, even when the restaurant is not very full - an area for improvement...
Great meal ,prawn gyoza was amazing ended up having two lots.
Great food and welcoming staff
Lovely ambience with high quality food. Only issue is that it's quite a leisurely service so not great if you're limited to an hour. Recommended if you're having a working lunch as it's not noisy and there isn't pressure to leave immediately after service. I'd go again.
Excellent food overall - had sashimi, nigiri, tempura, aubergine and softshell crab starters (much recommended), gyoza. Good sake. Service very poor for an establishment of this price. The waitress' English was quite poor (I normally never complain about this) , she couldn't answer any specific questions orders were taken piecemeal, and I had specifically mentioned in my booking it was my wife's special birthday. Nothing at all was said or done, which is disappointing. Communication was minimal. Another waiter was friendlier. Perhaps it was her first week working here? Human touch is important and this is why I can only give a "good" score overall, as this is not a cheap restaurant.
Absolutely wonderful selection of food. Great location and service. Not the restaurant fault that there was raucous gang of ladies and they moved us to get away from the braying!!
Food was pretty good but the ambience was not unfortunately. Shame.
It was great value for afternoon tea. But there was a miscommunication on booking which made us almost leave the restaurant.
The front person agreed in the end but the it should have stated the booking need to be done per 2s. We were party of 3. Especially I did make a call to the restaurant to assure about the booking as I did it get email response about my inquiry.
This a nice stylish place - the sushi isn’t quite up to the mark. Tempura was too greasy. Staff were lovely - but a little disorganised
Lovely small modern Japanese restaurant. We ordered the spinach with sesame dressing - great! - the broccoli - good but very small portion - the fillet steak - a bit tough - and house salad - fresh and great dressing. Overall pleasant and easy spot to talk and hang out...Id go again for a neighborhood spot but not for the food. Perhaps if we ordered the waygu beef it would have been better...but it was very pricey!
Great food and service. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable when it comes to the menu.
Terrible and overpriced food even worst service. Sorry but it was total waste of time and money :-(
A little pricey, but all delish and a great atmosphere
Food is just so-so. Well, I could perhaps tell already from the moment I stepped in, I was the only one there. Service is alright. Staff is just alright too.
You would have expected more especially they are using the Michelin star label, but I guess it’s just one of those which only relies on the label and has nothing special. Quite a pitty.
I was with my husband for dinner last Saturday, the atmosphere is calm, the service is good, but the cleanliness and the organization of the ladies' room and the stairs leading to the bathrooms leave something to be desired.
The bathroom was dirty, the stairs dirty For the environment I thought they should improve.
But the food is very good.
Exquisite food. Nice and relaxed atmosphere. Friendly and attentive waiter service.
Booked for a lunch meeting as it's close to my office. The restaurant is small but we had to look for the waiter. The service has been sloppy: no one at the reception when I arrived, bringing the miso soup without spoon, we had 1 bottle of water but charged for 2, etc. The food is so so.
Second visit to Kouzu. I'd give it 4.5 stars if that was an option. The sushi, sashimi, sake, lamb chops, and scotish filet were all excellent. But 86 Wagyu beef, which was disappointing. Overall a great meal.
Nice place, but the food is so so. First time didn’t like tempura, because it was too oily.
Elegant Japanese restaurant in Grade-ll listed building in Victoria. A warm welcoming, followed by brilliant dinner. Tasty food, excellent sushi, very relaxed atmosphere, wonderful and helpful staff. Japanese whiskies and cocktails we amazing. Highly recommended.
Great food and very very kind and nice Brazilian manager and waiter.
Great food at a reasonable price!!
Food was alright, service was poor. They brought a dish that had sesame when we told both waiters that someone at the table was highly allergic. At which point no one told us if it was in the dish until we asked repeatedly. Management came over after we paid our bill and said next time we came they would give us dessert and coffee. Will not be coming back
Very well presented Japanese food that tasted delicious.
We reserve table and we end up at the bar eating
We stay have hour we have our food quickly and we went to another ti have our wine
The reception guy was not professional restaurant was empty and he insist to put us upstairs at the bar
We told him we reserve table and he insist that it’s our reservation
Except that all was great food and sushi chef , waitress all was professional
I will not go again because if the reception guy
Great service and very accommodating as we took our one year old with us and we felt very welcome and had a good time
Great food, beautiful venue.
Cocktails, cocktails, cocktails. Based on the ones we had, spot on. The sashimi starters were excellent, loved the yellow tail truffle. However, our main courses fell short. We went with the lamb chops and ribeye steak, and requested both medium rare. Either we got a bad cut of meat or perhaps should have gone with medium cooked as the ribeye was chewy and not easily edible. Luckily dessert saved the day.
Food was good. WE focused on sushi/sashimi and soft shelled crab, which were all good. The Bento box was fair value. But the drinks were very expensive which pushed a good quality meal at quite a high price towards the stratosphere for what we had.
Service was very slow. Patrons taking a table at 6.00pm are likely to have something go to; but it took 45mins to get our main sushi/sashimi patter and starters, which on a fairly quiet evening was tedious.
The restaurant is nice, but fairly overpriced for what it is.
We had the 7 course tasting menu, and I can’t say that it blew my mind. Don’t take me wrong, the food was tasty, but not worth the hype/price we paid.
What was mostly upsetting, is that after supposedly seven courses, we went to Leon and managed to eat a whole burger and a side each. The portion sizes were so small, you are left as hungry as you were before the meal. And whilst tasting menus are always small plates, this felt like a joke/rip off when we saw the final bill.
Tasteless meal. the food had no character and it is the first time in my life we cancelled the rest of the order. The yellow tail was too sweet, the crab not crispy, the california had no taste at all and was watery as if the crab was not fresh but canned.
An appalling excuse for a meal that was not cheap. Service was Lazy and noone blinked when we cancelled the food and got the bill levaing most of the meal on the table.
Only memorable thing was the Sake which was a good bottle but it did cost over 60 GBP. Dont go if you like food. Go for the style maybe.
Everything was great, food was super tasty. We will definitely return.
The experience was okay. Nothing exciting or spectacular. The fish was good but not mouth watering as some Japanese restaurant in London. Service was amazing and location is good.
Excellent choice for pre-theatre meal. Service was quick but friendly. Can not fault the food - went for aubergine and soft shell crab starters and sushi platter for two as the main. Mini birthday cake slice was a nice touch.
