Our mission is to provide pure, plant-powered meals that are good for your body. Our approach is knowledgeable, playful, and engaging. We offer a unique opportunity to experience a different way of eating vegetables and discover new flavours and textures. Talented chefs behind Food For Friends restaurant (established in 1981 as Brighton’s first vegetarian restaurant), Botanique (Hove’s exclusive plant based restaurant) and Wolfox Coffee have put together their experience and knowledge to bring you this new Asian inspired plant based concept.
The result is a creative and colourful menu which shows organic plant-based food can lead to surprising, healthy and mindful new eating experiences. We believe in an upgraded casual dining experience in beautiful light-filled spaces dedicated to natural plant-based food and organic wines.
Excellent service and a very original menu.goos value Prosecco!
Fantastic service and really good food, restaurant has great decor and ambiance
The service was brilliant, the food was delicious and the overall experience was great.
Delicious food perfect for meat eaters and vegans alike with lots of choice and options for all. Amazing flavours and offers something different from other similar restaurants. The most gorgeous decor and ambience- perfect for a celebration or intimate date night. Would recommend to all!
Excellent and friendly service, beautiful room and much enjoyed food!
Really nice food at reasonable prices, with friendly service. Only real downside was the bass-heavy music
Amazing food, stunning decor and great service!
A perfect dining experience from start to finish. Can't wait to return! Every detail from the food to the service was absolutely perfect.
A lovely Japanese vegan food place. Quite pricey, didn’t have a lot of what we wanted to order. Would recommend but not sure we’d go again. Took our bowl away before we could even say we’d finished and we clearly hadn’t.
Great new space, excellent food and service. Interesting menu with plenty of choice would highly recommend- not too pricey but you could get carried away with ordering more fab plates! Lovely atmosphere and professional team. Nice!
We enjoyed our meal & will no doubt return. We were asked for feedback at the time, which we gave. A little more lighting would be good, as the side tables have no light above, or near, them, so the menu is tricky to read & the food not too easy to see. Our house Katsu curry could have been on the hotter (temperature) side and a knife is needed to cut through the Katsu mushroom (we were only given a spoon). Surprisingly, the cashew biscuit that accompanies the chocolate mousse was not very palatable (powdery & a little tasteless). All in all, it's great to have another entirely plant-based restaurant in town, so we wish Kusaki well!
Really wonderful experience, great ambiance and incredible food - amazing flavours, so fresh and delicate!
Incredible food! Incredible cocktails and the atmosphere is amazing!
Such an amazing restaurant - couldn't recommend anywhere more
It was the second time we have been to Kusaki and we thoroughly enjoy the food, ambience and exceptionally friendly and attentive service - would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys good food and a unique dining experience.
Loved the space and the vibe. Some of the food was good but nigiri and makis lacked flavour. Maybe a poor choice. Bao buns and and curry were amazing. Service was good but inconsistent. New venue probably does need time to settle in. Will be back to try again
Delicious, innovative food and drink in a beautiful setting
incredible vegan food, super lovely staff who went out of their way to accommodate. free champagne as we were out for a birthday meal. have already recommended to a lot of people. great value for money also! will be back again sometime soon, thank you
Great food, great service, lovely decor and setting. Loads of sharing plates and the curry was amazing.
Also great value considering how good the quality of food was.
This place is HEAVEN. I could live here the food is amazing and the staff are great and I can't wait to come back!! Brilliant meal, and the dashi tofu is insane.
I didn't feel like it was a Japanese restaurant. I felt the owner hasn't studied Japanese food enough to serve Japanese food. There were no Miso soup and Green/Sen-cha/Genmai-cha tea on the menu, and Tempura was very hard to eat because it came like stone. There was Ramen on the menus but actually, it was Soba noodles, and also the taste of the broth was very sour I felt it wasn't Japanese taste.
This is a SUPERB and welcome addition to the Brighton restaurant scene which just happens to be vegan. My carnivore friend who accompanied me had as equally a lovely time. And those cocktails! So delicious. Can’t wait to go back.
Probably the best place to enjoy an amazing meal in an amazing, nice and calm place. Not only the food is amating but the staff is really kind and helpful too
100% vegan and mostly gluten-free by default, yet, gorgeous Textures, Tastes, Fragrances and Shapes to totally excite and satisfy the meat and dairy eaters. We were full-up without any of the uncomfortable belly-busting. Divine eating and drinking; care and quality enthused into every aspect of this eating event :) We've found 'our restaurant'; and really modestly priced! Seems perfect for special occasions or cosy, easy dining. The overall experience was beautiful, artistic, creative, witty, and at the same time there was a peacefulness and a warmth and friendliness. We want more! We didn't feel at anytime that anything was missing from our eating-out experience. We have eaten in many Japanese restaurants in London and even Japan over the years and this restaurant is up there with the best.
Great food, great service, have found a new regular date night destination.
Beautiful, delicious food and drink in a fantastic space. Loved the taste sensations and the relaxed and friendly vibe.
The restaurant is beautifully decorated and has a lovely atmosphere, however we were really let down by the food. The ramen wasn’t ramen, it was soba noodles and the dashi tofu wasn’t silken tofu as advertised on the menu but instead a really firm (and reaaaaaally tiny) piece of tofu. The sushi was so bland and dry to the point that I compared it to Tesco’s sushi. The only thing that was good were the bao buns. Really hope they’ll improve the food as the it was such a lovely place and the staff were really friendly too!
Such a beautiful venue and the food was delish! Everything was amazing. Will definitely be going back!
Really nice food, lovely staff and amazing atmosphere. It was lively without being loud.
Absolutely stunning meal, we were all so presently surprised at the quality of the food. The mushroom bao bun was my highlight but to be honest all the dishes were beautiful so well presented and attention to detail was second to none.
I can’t wait to go back.
Staff were so attentive and really engaging about the food.
The lychee mocktail is a must! Oh and the mushroom tempura is insanely delicious.
Loads of choice so lots more to try on my next visit.
Went here to celebrate my 8 year veganniversary and could not have chosen a better place! Incredible cocktails, food and service. Everything was perfect! Our favourite dishes were the gyozas, the noodles and bao buns. We will be back very soon!
As non vegans, went slightly apprehensive, but the food was outstanding, so much so we have booked to go back in six weeks time
A beautifully designed space and tasty food. Bao Buns were delicious as was Katsu curry.
Very pleased with the whole experience! Big thanks to an amazing Brazilian waiter who took care of us, he was doing an outstanding job! We will definitely be coming back.
Beautiful food with diverse flavours. Looking forward to going back and getting to try more things off the menu. I think it'd be a good place for a date.
I’ve eaten in award winning restaurants in my life. This will be winning awards soon. I could eat here every day for the rest of my life. Stunning flavours. Only one negative. Crispy chilli nut things for £3. Come on guys you can get these at most petrol stations!
Delicious plant-based food with excellent service.
Dined for the first time at Kusaki on Saturday and will be recommending to family and friends
Nice setting, lots of potential, let down by food, gyoza were tasty, the rest was tasteless and bland and the tempura was weird - some veg uncooked, and the batter odd. So over all not a great meal out which is unfortunate.
Fantastic - drinks, food, service - everything was perfect.
Nothing but good things to say about this different take on vegan food. Lovely and will be back again
