Fantastic food and service! Highly recommended ... well prepared... wonderful service....
Terrible from start to finish.
We asked for the wine list, told there was no wine list that he would just verbally tell us. “Merlot, Cabernet, Chianti, etc.” just generic varietals, no specific maker or vintage!?
No mention of specials.
The customer at the table next to us, seated a few minutes later. Received a big full page wine list, a whole 2 minutes of specials were explained to him. What the hell?
Meal was pathetic.
Appetizers were just sad. Stuffed clams looked like that came from a gas station! Terrible.
Beet salad was completely forgettable. A ton of arugula and maybe one small beet sliced up and dumped on it.
Entrees equally dismal.
Outrageously priced for a terrible experience.
Excellent Dinner as always. Mozzarella the finest in W.P. Pasta dishes excel.
Cozy atmosphere - wonderful service. All adds up to an enjoyable evening with friends as everyone left with smiles on their faces.
I wouldn't order the monk fish again, it was a bit bland. Pasta and salad were delicious. The braciola was a bit tough. I would eat there again and just try a different dish. Service was excellent and atmosphere very pleasant.
This week the food and service were excellent and the owner/chef was out and about talking with everyone. Maybe that was the difference.
Always a good place. Very good wine list.
Eggplant parm was spoilt had to be sent back
Never had spoilt food in Restaurent before
Poor communication English in part of waiter
Manager was good
Only saving grace
Very overpriced for the quality of the meal. We should have asked about the price of the fish specials, so that is on us since the waiter didn't offer up the price. But, $40 for monkfish or a tuna steak is a bit much. There are so many other restaurants in White Plains that we will not be going back to this one.
Veal Parmesan was excellent. Large bone-in veal chop with good-sized side of spaghetti. Made a customized fettuccine Alfredo for my wife.
The food and service were great. I’ve been there previously and always had a great time.
Everything was fabulous!
The best chicken scarp
Outstanding & Authentic.
This place is on my repeat list.
Fair; at best
Great food and service. I would definitely recommend.
The food was amazing - there was not one complaint at our table! The people were great too. Highly recommend this place.
Maybe this was an “off” night, but I doubt it. In basically every way, it was way below the quality we'd come to expect at La Bocca from several prior visits (most recently, perhaps a year ago). The food was sub-par. In the past, I would have said their Caesar salad was among the better ones I’ve had, but this time the dressing wasn’t really a Caesar dressing: thin and vinegary, none of the flavor or texture you’d expect. The snapper was cooked reasonably, but wasn’t particularly fresh, and mostly skin, and the accompanying sauce was not exactly inspiring. Even the bread they offered to start was nowhere near as good as they’ve had in the past: the kind of bland white bread you find in so many places, with no flavor and no crust, and not even slightly warmed. Oh well. Very disappointing. This had been one of our go-to spots in the area. :(
Easter brunch was great. Tony makes you feel at home.
Seafood was excellent! So fresh! I had the Zuppa de Pesce. My wife had the scallops with spinach linguine. Totally enjoyable- she went back the following night with her friend-
When our flight from White Plains to Detroit was cancelled, we found ourselves at a downtown hotel in White Plains for the night. La Bocca was right nearby--and provided a welcome sanctuary. The service was outstanding, and the food--all specials not on the already extensive menu--was superbly prepared and authentically Italian.
Went with a friend/business associate who is a regular. We did not order off the menu. My friend advised Tony, the owner of food allergies and simply told him to fire away! OMG-we (4 of us) sat at the bar all night and never made it to a table! We had some drinks and wines and Tony proceeded to do his thing with the cooking. Food was amazing!!! We shared a bunch of different appetizers. A calamari appetizer that you will never see anywhere else was awesome. Homemade Gnocchi that simply melted in the mouth. Then came the main courses. Meats, fish dishes etc. all made to order. Dessert included a tiramisu and homemade zabione to die for...3 hours later we left smiling and laughing.
This is not the type of place to go for a quick meal; will not do justice to one of the finest Italian eateries on this side of the Atlantic. Tony did his own cooking and he is an artist. While not inexpensive, the food we had was certainly a good value. Probably less expensive to order off the menu which we did not do; we simply sat there all night and let Tony “create!” Especially for what we ate the value was there and cost less than anything comparable you would find in NYC, which would most likely not be as good.
I have the good fortune to be able to dine all over the world. La Bocca ranks at the top. This place is a little gem that I never would have found on my own if my friend did not bring me there. In White Plains, it is a good hour from my home without traffic but will definitely come back with my wife as a destination eatery...yes, it’s that good!
Thanks to Phil for bringing me there and thank you Tony for your hospitality. I will definitely be back. Brian
Service was good, very nice server. nice ambiance. Unfortunately, the food was below average.
Excellent. My kind of place. Chef knows what he’s doing. Great, fresh Italian food and they make you feel like family. Really enjoyed it and so did my old college buddy. Much deserved 5 stars.
I have known Tony for about 20 years and I have enjoyed every meal I've had at every one of his restaurants. Last night was as good as any I've had in the past. Everything was delicious and the service was great!
Hi there! Thank you so much for your review! We are so happy to hear that we've been able to please you for such a long time! Thank you for your loyalty, it is much appreciated. Best, La Bocca Team.
Worst food ever! Was supposed to get pasta w/ oil and garlic with broccoli rabe & sausage -it tasted like a ton of butter and the sausage was AWFUL. Never ever again
This its my second time and the prices went up tremendous and I love veal Osso bucco but the price was not worth
Hi Carlos! We are so happy that you visit our restaurant already twice! I'm sorry to hear that our priced disappointed you. Unfortunately the food market related to meat & fish has been very unstable lately so that caused an increase of prices from our vendors. We hope that in the future that will get under control so that we can keep offering amazing and good quality products at a very reasonable price. Hope you'll give us as a 3rd chance! Thank you, La Bocca Team.
The food did not even rise to the level of mediocre. It was amateur hour all around. The service was of poor quality and yet it was better than the food. I will never go back, ever.
Hi there. Thanks for letting us know about your experience. As it was disappointed for you it is for us to hear that you didn't enjoy our food. We put a lot of hearth into ensuring that every dish is put out with a lot of love and care. Our apologies if that didn't happen with you. Hope you'll give us a second chance to show you what we are capable of doing and maybe suggest you some dish that will definitely hit the spot! La Bocca Team.
Bad all over. Overpriced. The food needed to improve to be at the mediocre level.
Hi Alberto! We are so sorry to hear that our food wasn't up to your standard. It sounds like an off night but that's not excuse. We hope we'll get to make this up to you sometime in the future with a delicious meal - we know we have what it takes to leave a five star impression next timer around. By the way, we're going to chat with the kitchen about this. It would be helpful to know some more details. Please email us at info@laboccaristorante Hope to hear back from you! Grazie!
Thank you! That's so nice to hear it! See you soon for another spectacular meal!
Nice folks. Octopus was very disappointing
Ate dinner here on Valentine’s Day. The bread at the beginning of the meal was hard and stale. Ordered the eggplant appetizer, which came out soggy, tasteless, and as if there was a kraft single melted on top of it. The papardelle bolognese was tasteless.
It is hard to find a restaurant in White Plains that isn’t a corporate steak house or a large chain...so we were thrilled to find La Bocca. The owner was there keeping a watchful and welcoming eye on everything! Everything about it was JUST RIGHT...the food, the service, the size, the ambiance, the other customers. We had a great time and will be back!
Outstanding food. They are able to customise the menu to attend everyone’s need. Great service. Not a fancy place but excellent for family and friends diner / lunch
Food was superb, service was excellent. It was a Saturday night so it was a bit loud, but it was still extremely enjoyable. I would recommend this restaurant without hesitation.
La Bocca is a great Italian restaurant in White Plains. Have had a number of meals here and all have been excellent. The quality and diversity of slections make this a great place for game - veniso, wild boar, duck - as well as more traditional Italian selections.
Pasta is delicious, veal dishes superb.
One note, the Antipasto Caldo that we had could have been hotter. Caldo means hot and it was a cooked antipasto but came to table luke warm.
Otherwise meal was delicious.
I almost qualify as a "regular" here, usually for business lunch but sometimes dinner with my wife. I can eat the shrimp and asparagus risotto all day, every day. The other house-made pastas are excellent. Nice wine list.
We have used open table for years most notably in NYC and have rarely been disappointed. We had an early reservation and the restaurant was almost empty when we arrived. We ordered simple dinners, pasta in various forms. Bread was served with something on a plate with which I was unfamiliar. I asked the server what it was and he did not speak English. I think it was sauteed vegetables as a spread for the bread. It was actually very good. The calamari appetizer was rubbery. The food took forever to come out and when it did, my order of rigatoni with pancetta and potato came as spaghetti and meatballs. I waited quite a while for the order to be replaced as my husband and granddaughter ate. When the pasta came it was really undercooked, the pancetta was little hard pellets and in total, tasteless. My husband's pasta primavera was only fair, but his lentil soup was good. Our granddaughter's pasta in butter was good. The restaurant started filling up and we felt rushed out. We didn't eat very much so we wanted dessert. The Tartufo was not as described, the tiramisu was fair and our granddaughter's sorbet served in an orange shell was frozen solid. The service was inattentive. We came at 6 and left at 7:45 In the end, we felt disappointed.
Nice atmosphere good food good location! Definitely returning and telling friends!
Wonderful food, great staff, great environment. We were a party of 5, accommodated quickly. Excellent wine pairing for our pasta dishes and the member of our party who ordered steak. Charming host who made an effort to inform our dish choices, including letting us try some sauce options on bread. Wonderful experience.
