La Bodega Negra - Restaurant
Fantastic food and great service, but it is not cheap (in any way)
Delicious food and fantastic lively atmosphere. Perfect for a dinner with friends.
Enjoyed a nice meal here. The menu for vegetarians was a bit confusing, it would be helpful if there was signage.
Food was very poor, had to send back most items. Waitresses were rude and forgot to bring out some of our food and then claimed it had been brought out. When paying the bill we were uncomfortable to pay the service charge in full as we were dissatisfied and the waitress was rude about it.
Standards have slipped over the past few years but prices have stayed high. Used to be a great restaurant, but I wouldn’t go back again now.
Service, place, music amazing. My favorite restaurant in London. Every year I come here
It was fantastic! Great food, quick service
Service was pretty poor, we felt rushed and the staff cleared dishes way too fast. We gave some feedback on a crab dish which wasn’t good, the response from the waitress was that she was a vegetarian rather than feedback to the kitchen or management. It’s a high end restaurant and you would expect the staff to be better trained.
Absolutely loved it! Amazing venue, great service, lively vibe! The food was outstanding! I am still thinking about the fondue! Would highly recommend it, had a great atmosphere if you are looking for dinner with a great atmosphere!
Amazing concept, however we found the food really pricy for the quality that we were expecting
I would recommend just going to the bar as the excitement is all in the entrance. The cocktails were very good but the portion sizes and the prices of the food are outrageous...
All the food here was excellent. The mains are a bit meaty, and we're vegetarian so we had a mix of starters, a bit like tapas, and were really happy with it.
Great restaruant with brilliant staff - from the very first person you meet at the entrance to all the staff once you're seated. Staff were friendly, smart, sexy and on top of their game when it comes to serving their customers. Food was amazing too and highly recommend the hibiscus margarita!
Small Portions but amazing food! The staff were very attentive and friendly.
We were a bit taken aback with the entrance to the restaurant advertising a ‘strip show’ and weren’t sure we were in the right place as there is no restaurant name on the outside, but once over the shock, we loved it here and defiantely gave is something to talk about!
The food was excellent, so much flavour and good portion sizes.. also very well made cocktails and a great atmosphere for a fun night out.
Service was rude.
Food was bad.
Drinks were fine.
Ambience was cool.
Not worth the bad service.
Great restaurant, nice with a feel good vibe !! Food was good and cocktails even better !
Good food, starters where better than mains. Service was ok. Definetly a great restaurant for a night out great ambience . Value for money average 60 pounds per person
The facade is a good laugh, but the food is serious and the service friendly and competent. This is not your typical, sad tex-mex with piles of beans, rice and unidentifiable cheese. We had an excellent time!
Nice menu, good selection of tacos and entries, few hot plates. Amazing margaritas. A bit noisy due to the architecture, being in a basement but well decorated.
I have been to La Bodega before for just drinks before and enjoyed the drinks, the decoration and the atmosphere hence I went back. This time we had drinks at the bar, followed by dinner.
The drinks and bartenders still great, the bartenders are very friendly, we loved our margueritas.
At the table we ordered some starters which we enjoyed throughly but I was disappointed at my main dish - Salmon with mussels and corn. It came with Salmon, corn and peas without the mussels.. the dish tasted like nothing. When I enquired about the mussels I was told that it was in the sauce, well, then perhaps the menu should have stated a mussel’s sauce!
Overall, we enjoyed our time in there but I would go back only for drinks and nibbles, not for dinner.
Really good, very much worth a visit at least once
Loved the staff, Dale at the front door put a huge smile on everyone's faces at the beginning and the end of the night! The environment is also lovely.
The only thing I would say is that the food isn't so great if you're a vegetarian. The corn and the vegetarian tacos were yummy but the Vegetable Main, Guacamole and Sweet Potato Fries were kind of expensive for what they were. I would definitely recommend a renovation of the vegetarian menu as there are more and more veggie customers coming up.
A place where food, music, atmosphere is on point! I highly recommend it. Is it pricey? Sure. Does the overall experience make up for the prices? 100%!
I had been several times and loved the place, experience and food. We visited in a larger group and was disappointed, we had to flag down the servers on many occasions for drinks. We were late arriving due to traffic but they didn’t hurry us to the table, the sent us to the bar and then later when need the table back bought the bill without serving the dessert. When we challenged they eventually bought a dessert but half the table had left due to the bill error. We had a set menu due to the size of the party, the food wasn’t enough and the price was £55 per head for it!
Amazing food, delicious margs and a great ambience
Amazing food! Lovely margarita. Great atmosphere. Love it!
Excellent from start to finish. Delicious food and drinks. Great service. Fantastic atmosphere.
Amazing evening, with a very special date. The look of surprise on her face as we arrived was exciting as she thought we were going to an actual sex show. The food was delish as was the selection of wine and margaritas. Such a great first date, on the 28th! May try out the cafe next time. :-)
The food was tasty. The waitress was stressfull, always coming to us. I’ve found it a bit too expensive for what we get.
I typically go to the cafe so the restaurant was a bit hard to find, but I think that is part of the experience. Once greeted off the street and entered it was a perfect place for a group of friends. Great drinks and food. Some of the dishes were a bit more pricier than I would expect for a mexican food restaurant but nevertheless it tasted great! I could also see this place being a great date place.
This restaurant is great for couples. It has a great vibe and good food! Highly suggested!
Excellent restaurant! Great atmosphere! Delicious food! The team really looked after us. Thanks so much!
La Bodega Negra is a quirky, fun place with delicious food and very good service. Upbeat and fun atmosphere, casual, to be recommended.
Really cool decor
Very hipster but still high end
Amazing cocktails - I had a sweet yellow one 4 times
So, was fun to give my date a little "surprise" when we arrived as has to enter though the Adult Store
The food was good, enjoyed it but would not say value for money - you are paying for the location
Being seated was a small fuss but after that the service was spot on!
I think a one time only place
The food was great in terms of taste, but the quantity could have been a bit more. Overall, I was not disappointed. Great date spot!
Food fab, more amazing drinks.... service was unusually odd but it’s always a great night out with a different crowd and a trendy inviting atmosphere. Never fails to please and is one of my favourite places in London on ANY night of the week! Love a taco!!
I am cutting and pasting the complaint email I sent to La Bodega Negra (which I got no reply to):
I had heard the venue was worth a visit from an old Timeout post and decided to check it out with a friend, but I can easily say that the meal and experience I had last night was the worst I’ve had in London.
I found the food to be very restrictive (as a vegetarian) and very poor value for money. I ordered the only vegetarian option for tacos- which I was told were ‘pretty hot’, I was only able to eat half of one and couldn’t finish the rest due to being too hot. I asked for milk twice and the wait staff seemed very unbothered and this took about 10 minutes to arrive at our table, after this my server actually belittled me for it, saying ‘I couldn’t handle it’.
We asked to order more wine during the 20 minutes we had left at our table, our waitress told us we should probably just leave now. We insisted on ordering and drinking it fast and then were told we could finish our drinks at the bar. We were made to get up and leave our table very suddenly, with no assistance in finding a seat at the bar.
Although I can understand the timing restrictions at busy London restaurants, and the need for prices to be a little more- I found my meal last night to fall short on the quality I would have expected. I left last night, still hungry after spending £40.
I’m bitterly disappointed, and embarrassed that I suggested La Bodega Negra as a dinner venue to my friend, who had an equally unpleasant time.
Absolutely amazing food, really attentive and friendly staff and unique locales.
